Synopsis
Elias Remington had a decent life. He wasn't the brightest kid; however, he wasn't dumb either, but when he entered college and graduated, he couldn't seem to get his life together. It wasn't til he played [Ascension Online] that he thought he could change his life. The game's money exchange feature, which allowed players to turn in-game coins into IRL cash, made it an instant hit. However, despite trying his best, he couldn't reach the top due to the guilds hoarding all of the EXP grinding spots and not being able to find any unique quests. Despite making his own guild, it was only him and a few of his friends, but after discovering a dungeon, Elias thought he could change his life if he cleared it due to its high rank. Yet as he tried to clear it, he died. He expected to respawn back at the inn he was renting; however, instead, he was back in time to the day he graduated. With his future knowledge, Eilias vowed to change his life and rise to the top of this world. _ Note: This is my first novel and will rely on a bunch of cliche's and stuff so don't expect much. But I want to try my own thing.

Chapter 1 - Return

"Shit,"

Jumping back, I dodged the stone sword that cleaved the space I was standing in. Rubble and dust flew in the air as the statue stood back up.

"What the fuck! Is this really a B-rank dungeon? Why is there another phase?"

Looking at the stone statue, my brows twitched as I saw the dozens of shadowy humanoid figures standing on the statue. In their hands were weapons that ranged from swords to axes made of pure darkness.

Holding onto my daggers tightly, I quickly threw a bunch of grey balls at the giant.

*BOOM*

An explosion rang out as the grey balls exploded near the stone giant's leg. As it did, the giant collapsed to the floor, and more dust kicked into the air.

-Whooosh

Wisps of shadows suddenly came out of the smoke before taking on humanoid shapes and charging toward me.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck,"

Raising my dagger, I blocked the black dagger aimed at my neck before pushing the figure back. Stepping to the side, I dodged a pitch-black axe and shoved my dagger into the shadow figure's neck.

"Huh?"

However, my dagger passed right through it as if passing through fog. The place my dagger passed through parted before forming back.

Activating one of my skills, a green circle appeared at the side of my heels, and I jumped. As I jumped in the air, a sudden gust stopped me, allowing me to float backwards. I then quickly swung my dagger, blocking an arrow aimed at my head.

Following the path, I saw a shadowy figure who was holding a pitch black bow.

"Come on!"

Landing on the ground, I stretched out my hand, causing a glowing orb to appear before a dagger formed . Holding it titling I threw the dagger at one of the shadowy figures and watched it spin in the air heading toward one of the shadowy figures.

It got close to one of the figures as it passed through it.

'Tsk'

Clicking my tongue, my boots glowed orange for a bit before I shot forward. I appeared in front of a figure with an axe. I leaned slightly to the right as the axe passed by me. In my right hand appeared a bottle as I threw the bottle in front of me, releasing a clean liquid onto the shadowy figure.

However, nothing happened.

"What the actual fu-gah!"

I was suddenly punched in the stomach before I was sent flying back.

[-85 HP]

Rolling on the floor, I came to a stop as I tried to catch my breath. Standing up, I tried to regain my focus; however, an arrow pierced my chest.

"Ukh!"

Before I could try to pull the arrow out, my left hand was sliced off, and then my right leg was also cut off, and I fell to the floor.

"Ugh, come on…"

However, the figures covered in shadows surrounded me.

"Fuck!"

Cursing up a storm, I tried to move but couldn't due to my limbs being cut off.

'Ugh, I had just found this dungeon too! Now everything I had is gone!'

Despite recently forming my guild with a few online friends, it wasn't going well. The high-ranking guilds had already taken a monopoly on the good grinding spots, and most of the quests barely paid anything.

We were on the verge of disbanding; however, I found this dungeon. As a result, I bought a few items and thought I could solo clear it.

Which I thought I did.

After all, this was a B-rank dungeon.

All I had to do was kill the boss and get the rewards and artifacts. And after I beat the boss, images of me living in a mansion came to mind.

"Fuck!"

I covered my face.

'I really thought…'

I really thought I could change my life for the better.

Buy a bigger house.

Stop eating instant noodles.

Maybe repair some of my relationships.

Reconnect with friends.

But there really was no way for me to fix that.

Looking at the shadowy figure with an axe raised above its head, I grit my teeth before the axe stabbed my head.

[You Have Been Killed By Monster [Shadow Walker]!]

-Flap

A raven flapped its wings before landing on a pillar. In its large black eyes, reflected the scene of Elias being executed before turning into pixels

"Another Failure," it muttered, gazing at the floating pixels and the dissolving shadow walkers.

[■■■■■■.]

"Are you sure my lord?" the raven muttered, looking into the sky.

[■■■■.]

"As you wish,"

"Uh, am I going to wake up?"

I tried to move; however, I couldn't just as I was about to say my safe word, I regained sensation in my arms and legs.

Sighing in relief, I opened my eyes and got up.

"Well, I guess I-huh?"

I froze as I looked around the room.

'This…'

This wasn't the inn I was staying at!

"My room?"

I looked around the familiar place.

Posters.

My computer.

And photos.

"Is this an illusion?" I muttered

I read that some dungeons had illusion traps, but were they this real?

Pinching myself, I felt the pain; however, nothing changed.

"Bazinga!" I spoke my safe word; however, nothing happened.

"Bazinga?"

"Bazinga?!"

However, nothing changed.

*KNOCK*

*KNOCK*

"Elias? Is everything alright?"

I froze, hearing the voice.

'That voice'

Quickly running to the door, I opened revealing someone whom I hadn't seen in a long time.

"Mo-mom?"

"Elias? Sweety, are you alright?" my mother asked, worried

"Ye-yea, I'm fine," I said, putting on a smile, "just had a weird dream,"

"Oh," nodding, my mom then walked away, "breakfast is ready, so come and eat,"

"Yea I'll be there in a minute," I said before closing the door and collapsing to the floor.

"Mo-mom's alive? How? She died a few years ago from a tumour?" I muttered as I looked at my trembling hands, "Is this not an illusion?"

It couldn't be possible-it shouldn't be…but….

I swiped my hand down and spoke my safe word again; however, nothing worked.

"Am I really back in the past?"

Slowly getting up, I grabbed my phone from my table and turned it on.

"H-how?"

10 years.

I had returned 10 years into the past.
