Chapter 76 Crimson's Ace!
"Gurgle~ Compared to those two, was our previous battle even a normal one?"
This was the first time Shigeru had seen Shiro fight in a normal way.
He originally thought that Shiro only used tactics
, only Stealth Rock and Spikes to annoy his opponent.
But seeing this match, the way Shiro defeated Crimson's Pikachu was enough to prove that Shiro's strength was amazing.
Shigeru didn't even dare to think that if Shiro had sent Ferrothorn to the field from the beginning and used those tactics, Crimson would have had an even more difficult time in the subsequent matches.
Just the moment that Pikachu appeared, it would have taken those two attacks, and then seized the opportunity to attack. If Pikachu didn't react in time, the course of the match would have changed instantly.
"Swampert, Aggron, Ferrothorn, Houndoom, Magneton, what other Pokémon has he not used yet? He's still missing one..."
Shinji stared at Shiro. Currently, Shiro still had one of his main Pokémon left to use.
From what he could see, Bai Yu's Pokémon were almost entirely Steel-type, which are vulnerable to Fire-type. However, Bai Yu could use Swampert and Houndoom for defensive synergy.
Aside from Dragon-type, almost every type Shinji could think of could be defended against by Bai Yu's team. Moreover, as long as Houndoom was on the field, with Stealth Rock controlling the field
, the match would become very difficult. This team composition made Shinji think of even more possibilities.
He had Griffin and other fast attackers, but he lacked a control Pokémon.
Compared to Gary's talent for training, Shinji had more of a talent for battle; his understanding of team composition and his own Pokémon was extraordinary.
"He also has an Electivire,"
Sabrina said without much thought, revealing Bai Yu's last Pokémon upon hearing Shinji's words.
In Sabrina's opinion, Bai Yu's last Pokémon would appear sooner or later.
With the boost from Motor Drive, Electivire
was the most advantageous Pokémon against Pikachu.
It ignored Electric-type moves and could even boost its stats after being hit by an Electric-type move.
If Swampert hadn't entered the fray without permission, Sabrina believed Bai Yu would have used Electivire to fight.
Compared to Swampert, Electivire would have been an easier opponent.
"Electivire...he still has an Electivire!" Shinji looked at Bai Yu
, a surge of emotion rising within him. The only Electric-type Pokémon he knew well was Electivire.
He had personally witnessed Denji's Electivire.
If Denji hadn't been uninterested in the Elite Four position,
he probably would have already become one of the Sinnoh Elite Four.
"Electivire?"
Gary was unfamiliar with this Pokémon and took out his Pokédex to check the relevant information.
He needed to thoroughly analyze Bai Yu's lineup
to prepare adequately for the next challenge.
...
On the field.
Crimson pulled his hat down slightly.
Even he felt a pang of panic. He
only had two Pokémon left; Lapras was paralyzed and unable to continue fighting.
Only one Pokémon remained.
In a three-on-three situation, two Pokémon had fallen one after another.
The Swampert hadn't suffered much damage; this match was already very dangerous.
Bai Yu didn't use any control-type moves, and the Blastoise he got from Qinglv wasn't suitable for the match right now.
Chi Hong hesitated for a moment, then finally took out a Poké Ball.
Even at the last moment, he still trusted his Pokémon.
"Charizard,"
Chi Hong silently thought, deciding which Pokémon to release for the next match.
Even with its type disadvantage, he still believed in Charizard's strength.
"Go, Charizard!"
"Ignite your inner fire, shatter everything!"
Chi Hong threw the Poké Ball into the air.
With a roar, a white light gathered, and a Charizard hovered in the air, its eyes burning as it stared intently at the Swampert before it. At the last moment, Crimson still believed in his strongest Pokémon.
Charizard! "It really is him..."
Bai Yu looked up at the Charizard soaring in the sky.
No matter the time, seeing this Charizard would remind him of the scenes in Pokémon Origins where Crimson's Charizard faced Giovanni and Mewtwo.
In the special episode, Crimson's starter Pokémon was Bulbasaur.
But...
in Bai Yu's mind, besides Crimson, only Leon could bring Charizard to its highest level.
"Ignite the fire in your heart, shatter everything..."
Bai Yu clenched his fist, and Swampert was also ignited by the atmosphere.
Not daring to show weakness, it roared, its eyes filled with flames.
Despite being a Water-type Pokémon, a Pokémon of gentleness, it unleashed a soaring fighting spirit.
It was so easy to ignite the fire in one's heart when competing with Crimson.
Bai Yu knew this all too well.
"Mega Punch!"
Charizard flapped its wings and charged forward, its right fist gathering a pale red vortex.
The Normal-type Mega Punch.
A move you can get for free by defeating someone in a Fighting Dojo.
"Surf!"
Swampert gathers a stream of water, which surges towards its right fist.
The powerful water stream condenses and meets the Mega Punch head-on.
Boom! The Mega Punch and Surf collide head-on, their powerful forces evenly matched. Even under extremely unfavorable conditions, Charizard still manages to withstand the erosion of Surf with its immense strength.
Swampert's power is slightly greater than Charizard's, but the Mega Punch lacks follow-through power, a fact that Red noticed.
"Fly into the sky!" Red made a decisive move, waving his hand and shouting.
Charizard flapped its wings and forcefully soared into the sky. Swampert, with no target in front, slammed its Surf into the ground, splashing water everywhere.
Centered on Surf, the surrounding land was soaked.
"Hydro Cannon!"
Swampert suddenly raised its head, continuously gathering water in its mouth, inhaling the remaining water on the ground.
The next second, a tremendous jet of water erupted.
"Fire Blast!" Red shouted defiantly.
Charizard, airborne, gathered flames in its mouth, which gradually formed a sphere, and then shot it towards the water jet.
The two forces collided fiercely in mid-air. Unlike other attacks, the collision of water and fire caused the entire field to be covered in a white mist as the collision continued.
Charizard flapped its wings and hovered in the air, observing Swampert's position.
Besides Red, White Feather could also see that position.
"Swampert, point straight up and use Rock Slide!"
Suddenly, numerous rocks appeared around Charizard, surrounding it and restricting its movement. Combined with the Pokémon Center's backyard, this limited its flight altitude.
In this situation, Red had few offensive options.
Defense was not in Red's vocabulary.
Since the airspace and lateral movement were restricted, it would swoop down and use overwhelming force to break free from the confinement.
"Dragon God Dive!"
Charizard roared, flapping its wings and unleashing astonishing speed in an instant. It surged upwards, tracing a stunning arc through the air, a dragon shadow enveloping its entire body, its ferocious appearance seemingly swallowing it whole.
Rockfalls continued to fall, yet none touched Charizard's body.
The rocks crashed to the ground, embedding themselves in its earth.
The dragon shadow raged through the air, emitting violent roars, as the dragon-shaped phantom followed Charizard's descent, heading straight for Swampert's main body.
This attack was a sure thing for Crimson!
Charizard is from Origins; I saw Charizard's battle scenes when I watched Origins, and I really enjoyed them.
