The staff member was momentarily speechless.
Renee Jennings was much calmer than Chelsea Raines. "We really can't figure out how to set up the tents. Please, could you help us?"
Margaret Jennings also pleaded earnestly, "This can't go on. It's one thing for us, but is the child supposed to sleep sitting up? There are snakes all around here..."
At a nod from the director, the staff member explained and demonstrated how to do it.
It finally clicked for Renee Jennings, and she thanked him profusely.
"It's nothing. It's getting late. You all need to finish the task as soon as possible," the staff member said before getting up to leave.
Renee Jennings understood, but the other two didn't get it. They asked a couple of questions, which Renee Jennings patiently answered at first, but then she focused on her own tent.
Margaret Jennings returned to her spot. Originally, they had planned to work together on the tents, but now it was clear Renee Jennings was aiming for first place.
