CRASH— Eleanor Bishop's entire body was sent flying.
Her body landed on the windshield of an oncoming car. The driver slammed on the brakes, but it was too late to avoid impact, and the collision sent her flying once more.
The violent sound of the crash was so loud that even Harold Bishop, far away on the other end of the phone, heard it with terrifying clarity, making his heart leap into his throat.
The hand holding his phone began to tremble. With quivering lips, he tried to sound calm as he asked, "Eleanor, are you okay?"
"Eleanor… Eleanor… Eleanor, what happened to you…?"
But the only response was the blare of car horns and the startled cries of pedestrians.
No matter how hard Harold Bishop tried to calm himself, he couldn't. "Eleanor Bishop, if you're still alive, just say something to your father!"
