Chapter 1 - Devil of my word

She was running as fast as she could, the sound of her boots echoing in the night as the rain poured down relentlessly in the streets of New York.

Her clothes were bloodied and soaked, seeping from her bleeding thighs as she bit her lips trying to fight against the agonizing pain.

"Stay still, Jasmine," Her pursuer, a lady with blonde hair yelled, her blue eyes glistening in the dark. "There's nowhere to run bitch."

"Please Ciara, don't... don't kill me," She pleaded, "You can have the company, you can have it all."

"I know I will....after you are dead of course." Ciara chuckled, drawing a knife from her pocket. Jasmine shivered in fright as she watched Ciara approaching her.

"Please, Ciara, don't, please do not do this, we share the same blood. " Her pleas fell on deaf ears as Ciara violently thrusted the knife into her stomach, over and over again.

"You shouldn't have gotten involved with what is mine bitch. How could someone as weak as you ever become CEO?, " She spat at her, "You are only a Quinn because your prostitute mother slept with the right client."

Jasmine had heard those words, a thousand times, but each time it was spoken, it shattered her heart to pieces.

"Don't worry I'm sure we'll meet again in hell, please do give the devil a kiss for me, will you?" Ciara whispered into her ears before running off into the dark leaving Jasmine struggling to breathe.

"Help!" she struggled to yell, blood seeping into the puddles of water.

She tried crawling through the ground, but found no strength to do so. All she could feel was indescribable hatred and anger as she wished for more one last chance at life to rid the world of her enemies and watch everything they had burn to the fucking ground.

As the sole surviving relatives of Ezekiel Quinn, the late CEO of the state's largest technology corporation in the state, Quinnix Innovation, both Ciara and Jasmine inherited equal shares in the company.

But consumed by a thirst for greed and power, her cousin Ciara plotted to eliminate her in a bid for total control.

Still, Jasmine couldn't shake off the feeling that it wasn't entirely Ciara's idea. She was convinced that her aunt, Melissa was pulling the strings behind the scenes manipulating her daughter like a freaking puppet.

"Help! someone please help me!" She continued to scream, feeling consciousness slipping with each breath lying in a pool of her own blood.

"please God don't let me die." She whispered holding back sobs. Jasmine wasn't the best Christian or a believer in God but right now, she needed a higher power to save her. She couldn't let it end. Not like this.

"Now what is a pretty woman like yourself doing all alone outside on this cold rainy night."

As the rain continuously poured down, a tall beautiful, ethereal figure claded in a black long coat emerged from the mist, He had flowing luscious white hair that cascaded elegantly over his shoulders and piercing blue eyes.

"An angel?," She thought watching his elegant movements as he glided towards her, kneeling beside her while she shivered in the cold.

"Stay with me," he whispered, his voice soft and kind.

Jasmine struggled to breathe and stay awake, her strength fading with each passing moment. She looked up at the mysterious man, and for a moment, the pain seemed to subside as she found herself lost in the depths of his sapphire eyes.

How could a creature look this freaking beautiful?, she thought to herself.

"Who are you?"

He offered her a faint, playful smile staring at the blood "You couldn't menstruate at home?."

"huh?," For a second she forgot she was on the brink of death as she blinked her eyes adorably at him, perhaps she heard him wrongly?

Here she was, a helpless and defenseless woman bleeding to death, yet the best this beautiful stranger could come up with was jokes?, a menstruatal shitty joke to be precise.

"Hey no need to glare, I'm here to help," He winked, "Tonight's your lucky night."

"Lucky?" She titled her gaze, was the crazy stranger dropped on his head as a baby?

"Yes," He placed his fingers at the tip of his chin as though deep in thought "Well if you ignore the stabbing and that hot blondie."

Wait...just wait a fucking minute, hot blonde did...did he watch the whole thing without trying to help?, is he some fucking psycho?

"Of course, how else could I make a deal with you if you aren't dying?" He read her thoughts, " you know, I could give you a second chance at life if you sign this contract." She watched in awe as a fiery scroll appeared out of thin air.

"What the hell are you?" She gazed at the fiery scroll untouched by the rain in awe, she was certain he wasn't any mere mortal, his ethereal appearance and his strange magic couldn't be done by any human.

"Hmm, I have many names. Beautiful, gorgeous, elegant, precious, Ladies man." He boasted arrogantly and Jasmine rolled her eyes, "But, your kind popularly knows me as the devil." he said with a sly smile, revealing a set of perfect, gleaming white teeth.

She finally realised that he wasn't affected by the rain. it was as though there was an invisible umbrella shielding him from the downpour.

"The devil?" Her breath hitched and her hazel eyes bulged in shock. Why was she next to the devil in the moment of death?, Did it mean she was going to hell?

"Relax I'm not going to hurt you," He waved his hands casually, "At least not on earth." He muttered his last words inaudibly to himself.

"Look, things aren't looking too good for you Jasmine," He sighed crossing his legs above the other, sitting in a lotus position, "You're going to die, and chances are you going to hell,"

"I am going to hell?" she trembled at the thought. She had been sweet and kind to everyone, treating everyone in the company as equals. she didn't deserve such a fate.

"Don't pretend you do not remember the sin you committed four years ago." He chuckled and she gasped in shock. How...how did he know?

He continued "And let me tell you this, hell is much worse than you think." He winced as though remembering a traumatic memory.

"You sign this contract and you get to live an extra three hundred and sixty five days after which you die and go to hell anyways, but at least, I'll grant any of your wishes during these days, except extending your days."

"Will you help me get my revenge?" she asked. She didn't care what consequences followed.

To jasmine all that mattered was destroying Ciara and anyone who might be involved in her murder. She knew she was weak and lacked the strength or resource to do so, however, maybe with the devil by her side, everyone involved would be brought to justice.

"Of course," He smiled, "I'll do an...."

"Fine, I accept," She told with conviction, "Just keep to your word and help me get my revenge."

"Don't worry beautiful, I'll give you the world," He smiled, a glint of mischief evident in his gaze,

"After all, I'm the devil of my word."
