Thanos, due to his severe injuries, had fallen unconscious.
During this time, Nebula stared at his deeply detested face, countless times wanting to end his life then and there.
However, each time she raised her hand, Thanos's previous gaze would flash in her mind, making her unable to strike.
After a fierce psychological battle, she ultimately couldn't bring herself to finish Thanos, and even treated his wounds.
When Thanos woke up again and saw his body bound, he showed no surprise.
What truly astonished him was that Nebula hadn't chosen to kill him.
"How did you survive?"
Seeing Thanos awaken, Nebula walked up to him and asked coldly.
"Survive? I don't know either."
"In my last memory, I only remember that red-haired woman using a move called 'Phoenix Judgment' on me; endless Fire engulfed everything.
I thought it was all over!"
"However, when I woke up again, I found myself on Titan."
Thanos seemed not to be angry at all about Nebula's previous beating; he patiently answered Nebula's questions.
"Weren't you defeated by that guy with the infinity stones?"
Nebula felt as if she had discovered a blind spot in the situation.
She had always thought it was Kytheron, the one with two infinity stones, who defeated Thanos, but now, hearing Thanos speak, she realized things might not be as she imagined.
"This Universe is not as simple as we imagine."
"I thought I would be the destiny of this Universe; even Odin, that aging lion, couldn't withstand the ravages of time and eventually lost his claws."
"But the appearance of those two guys completely shattered all my assumptions."
Now, thinking of the powerlessness he felt in front of Kytheron and Jean, Thanos couldn't help but question his ideal of being the Universe's destined one.
"Hmph! To think that the once cold-blooded and ruthless Universe tyrant would now be beaten to the point of losing consciousness, how ironic!"
Nebula looked at Thanos's current state, feeling both satisfied and a complex emotion.
After all, Thanos had always been a strong and ruthless figure in her heart, with slaughter and Death shrouding every Planet he descended upon.
And now, this "father" who once made her feel utterly despairing was so weak and vulnerable.
"Do you know why I appeared here?"
Nebula suddenly sneered at Thanos.
Thanos was also quite curious about this.
"Because a voice whispered in my ear, guiding me here, wanting me to personally end you!"
Nebula made no attempt to hide her purpose for being there.
"Then why didn't you just kill me?"
"Look at that ugly machinery on your body; I personally ordered Ebony Maw to modify it for you."
"Compared to Gamora, you are truly too disappointing!"
"Whether it's wisdom, strength, or combat skills, you can't compare to your sister in any way."
Regarding Nebula's current behavior, Thanos, who was well-versed in human nature, had already roughly figured out her psychology.
Therefore, at this moment, Thanos wanted to provoke Nebula with words to verify his guess.
Sure enough, as soon as Nebula heard this, a violent emotion surged in her heart again.
She had always attributed part of the reason for her current state to Gamora; if it weren't for her, she wouldn't have been treated this way.
Now that Thanos had bluntly pointed it out, Nebula furiously raised her wrist, and a shockwave was fired, but it veered past Thanos's head, slamming heavily into the wall behind him.
And Thanos didn't even blink an eye at this.
"Weakness, that is the common flaw of you two sisters."
Thanos still didn't stop his verbal torment.
"Enough, shut up."
"Thanos, you are my prisoner now.
I will banish you to the edge of the Universe, letting you, the former Universe overlord, fend for yourself in loneliness and despair."
Nebula was indeed prevented from killing Thanos by some special emotion.
Therefore, the best choice she could make was to banish Thanos forever.
In her opinion, with Thanos in his current weak and powerless state, the only fate awaiting him was a lonely Death.
Nebula took Thanos towards the most remote galaxy, and after detecting the existence of a black hole, Nebula felt she had found an even better place of exile.
"Thanos, do you see that black hole? It's a perfect place for your grave."
Finally, Nebula put Thanos on a small spacecraft, set the program, and then released it.
The spacecraft headed straight for the black hole.
And Thanos, looking at the black hole, also had the thought of ending it all then and there.
After watching the spacecraft carrying Thanos being swallowed by the black hole, Nebula felt a sudden lightness in her heart.
"It's finally over!"
After silently telling herself this, Nebula led her fleet away; she was free now!
After Thanos entered the black hole, he found that there was no destructive power tearing him apart as he had imagined.
Darkness, dead silence; no scenery was visible around him.
After an unknown period, Thanos found that he was still not dead.
Suddenly, Thanos noticed what seemed to be light appearing ahead.
He knew he was inside a black hole, so the appearance of light was impossible.
Just as he thought he was hallucinating, a powerful pulling force enveloped the spacecraft he was in.
When Thanos opened his eyes again, he found himself in an immense, boundless, brightly lit space.
Countless statues were embedded in the stone walls below the space; these statues varied in form, but all had satisfied and intoxicated smiles on their faces, as if dreaming beautiful dreams, and each statue exuded a mysterious, majestic, and terrifying aura.
"What is this place?"
Thanos looked around with some surprise and doubt.
"Welcome to the quarry of the gods."
Suddenly, three ancient voices reached Thanos's ears.
The next moment, three old women dressed in black robes appeared before him, each connected to the others by a chain.
They were the guardians of the quarry—the infinity Witch.
Dead and forgotten gods of the Universe rested here, their divine power accumulated within.
For countless ages, many fortunate souls who stepped in here sought to obtain the supreme divine power left by these gods, but none passed the trials here, becoming instead statues on the stone wall.
Even the learned Thanos had no memory of this place.
"The last Eternal Titan, do you wish to unearth the legacy of the ancient gods from this quarry and be reborn?"
"If you can pass the trial of the Immortal Wall, then you will be qualified to inherit the supreme divine power here and become a truly Eternal god."
The Witch fulfilled their duty, explaining the rules of the quarry to everyone who entered.
After a moment of silence, Thanos asked, "What is the trial?"
"That is for you to experience yourself!"
The Witch did not directly answer Thanos's question.
"Now make your choice!
Either leave now, or leap into the mine veins and accept the trial."
The Witch's emotionless voices rang out again.
At this point, Thanos glanced at the dense statues on the wall below, and without much hesitation, he directly leaped down.
Instantly, his body was absorbed by the Immortal Wall, and a torrent of divine power instantly transformed him into a stone statue.
"Can he really pass the trial?"
"Destiny has awaited for a long time!"
"Our shackles are about to be broken."
The conversation among the Witch seemed to indicate that they had known Thanos was coming all along.
