April stared at him, not knowing what to feel. Anger, resentment, gratitude? At the end of the day, it should be gratitude, right?
"Hey..." she managed to say.
"Yo, xup with you?" he grin stretched wider.
It was at the tip of her lips to ask him what amused him, but she couldn't find the right word. "You ditched me." She finally heard her own voice.
He stretched his arms as if for a hug. "I am so sorry. But come on, you can't say that. I mean, you saw me running after the bus like a fool, huh? I went to get us some freaking bottles of water."
"There had been bottles of water in the bag all along, and all you needed was a concrete excuse to get off the bus." She said sharply. She knew he was only being evasive. "You are just being sly, I get it." she muttered, and settle herself on the bed with a humph. "So, you have a baby. Or is it Nathalie's?"
