Chapter 104: Sun and Moon

Furthermore, Shizuku's tragic past resonated deeply with Kurapika. She had lost both parents and sprinted down the path of vengeance, having even suffered brain damage in the process.

Neon, being far more emotional, had initially worried about whether Shizuku would be difficult to get along with, even considering how to act cold and aloof around her. But after hearing Shizuku's story, her eyes welled with tears, and she clung tightly to Shizuku's arm, refusing to let go.

Shizuku tried to pull her arm free a few times, but failing that, simply let Neon hug it.

Ronin drove the car in silence, opting not to interject.

Gaining Shizuku's loyalty was far easier than he had anticipated. Before coming here, his biggest concern was that Shizuku already possessed deep ties with the majority of the Phantom Troupe. But it was now apparent that before the Spence incident, Shizuku had lived a sheltered life with her parents, completely separate from Chrollo and his gang.

Though born in Meteor City, her upbringing mirrored that of an ordinary citizen from the outside world.

Perhaps suffering brain damage was actually a blessing in disguise for her! Ronin couldn't help but sigh internally. Without it, the brutal murder of both her parents would have crushed her with unimaginable grief.

Could her extreme forgetfulness and emotional detachment simply be a sort of self-defense mechanism?

The car slowly drove out of the forest, returning to the garbage-strewn streets.

While Ronin's group was massacring their way through Spence's manor, the Elders of Meteor City had convened an emergency remote conference. The sole agenda: how to kill the outsider who dared to wreak havoc in their city.

"Contact Chrollo. With Spence dead, we can easily offer him a seat on the Council of Elders. Then, we just have the Troupe exterminate the outsider."

After a fierce debate, one Elder proposed a solution that shut down most of the opposition. Ronin's strength was undeniable. Since no one wanted to sacrifice their own valuable subordinates, the Phantom Troupe—a wildly independent force within the city—was the perfect hired gun.

"So we just let him run rampant through Meteor City until the Troupe deals with him? Today it's Spence; who will it be tomorrow?"

An aged, raspy voice challenged, plunging the meeting into a brief silence. No one volunteered to step up.

"Hmph."

The old man who had voiced the question prepared to hurl a few insults, but someone suddenly interrupted.

"Wait a minute, did Elder Theodore not join the call?"

The sudden question gave everyone pause as the image of the radical fanatic naturally surfaced in their minds.

Theodore was one of the most orthodox, inflexible Elders in all of Meteor City. His core ideology was simple: if an outsider attacked a resident, he would turn his own brethren into human bombs to express his opinion. To him, human beings were tools that could be slaughtered at will—slaughter used to convey a message, and slaughter used to blow his enemies to absolute smithereens!

"He represents what a true Elder of Meteor City should be," the old man sighed with a hint of lamentation. "I am old. If Theodore fails, I hope the rest of us can unite.

Facing a foreign enemy, killing them takes supreme priority. I will wait for you all in my villa. If my guess is correct, should the outsider survive Theodore, he will undoubtedly come looking for me."

Hearing this, many Elders immediately grasped the truth. Ryan had absolutely been involved in the conspiracy against Spence!

Yes, the old man speaking was Ryan—the mastermind who had incited Hiroki to attack Spence, and one of the key culprits responsible for the destruction of Shizuku's family.

But whatever Ryan had done was an internal Meteor City issue. The man who had killed Spence was a foreign invader. Therefore, Ryan was right; eliminating the outsider was paramount.

"Agreed. I will send my men to your location."

Several voices echoed their support in the wake of Ryan's speech.

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of Ryan's mouth. These filthy ants want to deal with me? They're not even close!

Meanwhile, on another street, Ronin and his group encountered a blockade.

Blocking their path was a mob of people draped in tattered cloaks, wearing face masks, and walking barefoot through the debris-littered street. These beggar-like figures didn't even carry firearms!

At first, Ronin didn't take them seriously. But as he tried to ram the car through to force them aside, one of the figures lunged forward, slamming into the hood. The moment they made contact, the person violently exploded!

The vehicle was forced to a halt, its windshield completely shattered. Even though Spence had heavily modified the car, it couldn't survive a point-blank suicide bombing completely unscathed.

Stepping out of the ruined vehicle, Ronin locked his gaze on the group's leader.

The man was shrouded in [Ten]. Furthermore, the nature of the explosion had triggered a specific memory in Ronin's mind.

Ronin hadn't found any intelligence regarding this man in the lackey's memories, which meant he wasn't Ryan. But his appearance matched a very specific scene from Ronin's past life.

It was the scene from the manga when Hisoka fought Chrollo. When Chrollo introduced the ability [Sun and Moon], the Meteor City Elder who originally possessed it wore this exact same attire!

A raspy, grating voice rasped from beneath Elder Theodore's cloaked mask. "Meteor City is not a place where outsiders can run wild. Therefore, please die!"

As the words left his mouth, figures rapidly leaped down from the rooftops on both sides of the street.

They were dressed identically to Theodore, like a swarm of clones. But as they descended, every single one of them performed the exact same action: they pressed their hands together!

[Sun and Moon]

This was an ability stored within Chrollo's [Skill Hunter]. It allowed the user to affix positive and negative seals onto a target; when the two seals touched, it triggered a massive explosion.

Obviously, Theodore had already placed seals on all the men diving from the rooftops. And that hand-pressing action was clearly the trigger to detonate them!

Ronin's eyes narrowed. Theodore had bred these vagrants into fanatical suicide bombers.

His eyes instantly shifted into the Mangekyou Sharingan. Susanoo flared to life around him. The massive skeletal arm swept upward with the momentum of thunder, swatting the falling bombers away like flies.

However, the moment their hands connected, the explosions still triggered.

Simultaneously, a massive horde of identically dressed vagrants poured out from the surrounding alleyways, charging toward Ronin and the others with fanatical, suicidal fervor!
