Nora's POV
Sunlight streams through the windows as James pulls back the curtains with decisive movements. "Morning has arrived," he announces, his voice carrying relief. "The sun still shines. Hell remains exactly where it belongs."
I ease myself upright, squinting against the bright light flooding our bedroom. My body aches from the previous night's ordeal. "Did we actually succeed?"
"You succeeded." His smile transforms his entire face as he moves to the bed with supernatural speed, gathering me into his strong arms. "You accomplished the impossible, Nora. You prevented the apocalypse."
A laugh bubbles up from my chest. "I suppose my baby shower can proceed as planned after all."
James chuckles, burying his face against my neck, his breath cool against my skin. "Absolutely. Though we'll face another catastrophe when Antonia discovers she couldn't prepare the night before like she intended."
