Nora's POV
"I believed I had lost my mind completely." Tears well up in her eyes, making my guilt intensify. "When I reported what I witnessed to the authorities, they dismissed me entirely. Then everyone else began changing their stories. But I was certain what I experienced was real."
"A creature of darkness took you," I explain carefully. "It planned to harvest your internal organs. I had been hunting it for some time but arrived moments too late."
"But you didn't arrive too late. You rescued us, Nora. I still don't comprehend how you managed it."
I raise my right hand and summon a sphere of blue luminescence.
"Supernatural abilities. That explains everything."
"Do all practitioners eliminate these creatures?"
"Not at all. The majority avoid such confrontations. But somehow it became my specialty. I destroy them because I possess the capability."
"And these beings just roam freely among us?"
