Nora's POV
"The festivities are just beginning," the demon hisses with malicious glee.
"And everyone is absolutely thrilled."
"I've never been one to spoil a good time, but screw this. Your party ends now." I march forward, placing both palms against the sides of the demon's skull. "Daemonium mori!" The incantation rolls off my tongue as hellfire erupts from my hands once again, consuming the creature from within. The crimson flames shift to brilliant blue, and within moments nothing remains except scattered ash and charred bones.
"I assumed you planned to use him as your messenger," Brent remarks, his gaze fixed on the smoldering debris.
"He irritated me." I rake my fingers through my disheveled hair, staring down at the remains littering the floor. "Damn it."
"What's wrong?" Reina's voice carries an edge of concern. "You look rattled, which is making me rattled. You don't actually believe he was telling the truth, do you?"
