Nora's POV
James moves behind me in the kitchen, his cool palms sliding beneath my shirt as I prepare dinner at the small island counter. Tonight my friends are coming over so I can finally tell them about Kevin.
The past few days have been consumed with house projects. James threw himself into it for my benefit, though we both understand the storm brewing on the horizon. Phoenix unleashed witch hunters on me once, and he will certainly try again. I doubt assassins receive payment until they complete their assignment. Both of us have been tense lately, even though nowhere offers more safety than my home except the Shadowhaven itself.
