The evening air feels heavy when Gideon greets me at the door, his usual energy noticeably absent.
"Good evening, sister," he says, though his voice carries none of its typical warmth.
"Hey," I respond, forcing brightness into my tone. "Time to make this official?"
"I'm afraid so, darling girl," Charlette replies, clutching a weathered scroll that practically hums with ancient magic. The enchanted document seems to pulse in her hands.
James secures the door behind them, his movements deliberate. "Nora explained this is the quietest way to handle her departure from the coven. I'm grateful you found this option."
"There's no point in creating drama," Charlette begins, though uncertainty flickers in her eyes. "Besides, I'm convinced her banishment will be temporary. You pose no real danger to our community."
