Poking my head out of the ceiling from the pipe, I grab onto the pole that's right next to the exit. Letting gravity do its work I flip my body down from the pipe and firmly attach both of my legs to the pole.
Looking around the room I look if there's anything lurking in the darkness the best I can. The only thing I can see is the bits of proto rot on the ceiling and floor though. Confirming this I start sliding down the pole and land on the floor.
Moving a little to the side, Inv lands right next to me.
'OK good… at least nothing jumped us at the beginning'
Looking ahead down the corridor all I see is pitch darkness with clouds howling in the background.
Looking at Inv I also see him staring straight ahead with a serious expression. Seeing Inv look more… dependable, I calm down a bit from my anxiety. Not having much time to think up of a plan and actually being with someone else for a change has me more anxious than usual. Being by myself at least I would only have to worry about myself but with Inv…
'Calm down Joseph… you remember… mostly remember the layout of the first part of The Wall. The swarm room isn't too far away. If we can kill some things on the way and get the batflys from the swarm room, it should be enough for Inv… just have to be careful…' I think up a quick plan on what I remember from the game.
While Inv isn't at all like the way he is from the game. The layout of all the regions have been exactly what I remembered… well… Besides one thing, but that isn't important right now. I can only hope nothing has changed here as well…
Taking one more last breath, I steel myself and start walking forward.
"Let's go In-
"Stap" Inv raises his arm in front of me stopping me from moving forward.
For a moment I'm surprised by him doing this but immediately up my guard and ask.
"What is it?" I whisper loud enough for Inv to hear.
"Beg bug…" Inv says back while still staring ahead.
'Big bug? …a dropwig…' I think to myself instantly recognizing what's ahead.
Looking ahead I still can't see anything… Inv must have better eyesight than me if he's able to see it in this darkness… what isn't he better than me at?
Looking around I look for either some rubble or a spear.
'Fuck… there's nothing' I feel my stomach drop a bit not seeing anything we can use to get the drop wig to drop down…
"Damn it…" I mutter aloud.
Quickly I think up a plan, and I don't like it one bit.
"Inv" I look at Inv and whisper his name. Hearing me his head turns towards me. With his attention towards me I tell him my plan.
"I'm going to slide underneath it and get its attention; I want you to pounce on it and finish it off"
"N-nu we cent du dat et tu dangrus fo u…" Inv whispers back, shaking his head quickly, not liking my plan. I'm glad he's concerned for my safety, but this is our best shot with no weapons. Only Inv can kill it with his teeth and claws. I don't have the ability to maw things like he can…
"We don't have time Inv… I'll try my best to not get caught. Just get it the moment it drops to the floor, ok?" I tell him not backing down.
Looking at me for a moment I can see Inv look at me in concern.

"Ok… i wel ge et" Inv says back while looking back at the corridor.
"Alright…"
With us both being on the same page I jump down off the ledge we were standing on. Moving a little further I finally see the dropwig in my sight.
'You gotta be fucking kidding me…' seeing where the dropwig is, I curse my shit luck right now. With the dropwig already so close to the ground I have to be near perfect if I don't want to be grabbed by it…
Looking behind me, I see Inv looking back at me… seeing his face full of concern I steel myself. I won't fuck this up.
Not wanting to waste any more time I take a step forward… and immediately start sprinting!
With the dropwig quickly getting closer in my sight I get ready to use a skill that took me a while to get used to.
Feeling my heart racing in anxiousness and fear I see the dropwigs mandibles open wider showing it's sensed me!
With one last step from my sprint, I go prone as quick as I can and push my hind legs with as much power as I can! Feeling myself slide across the ground on my stomach, at this point I can only hope I don't get grabbed.
As if time slowed down, I can hear the dropwig screech above me and know it's dropping down. Not looking up I keep sliding an-
Suddenly, I feel a sharp stinging sensation at the end of my tail. Feeling my body suddenly stop sliding, my heart freezes.
Turning my head around as quickly as I can all see is the dropwigs sharp mandibles about to snap shut right on my face.
'N-no!' Seeing this I can feel I'm about to die. Experiencing this many times I know what comes next. Either everything turns to black or I'm dragged back to its den and die a slow painful death.
The only thing I can think of at this moment is how pathetic I am. To die at the very beginning like this. That I couldn't even help Inv at all.
In the slowed time I see the mandibles closing down on me. And all I can do is wat-
