Chapter 17 - Where is he?

"Where is he?" she questioned loudly. "We've been waiting for hours. King Gorame told us that this pigeon has the element of speed. He should have arrived by now."

A feminine kangaroo with gray, clean fur. Long ears attached to her head. A kangaroo wearing armor that appeared slightly thicker. Her forearms and hands were covered with reinforced gauntlets. Around her waist was a utility belt, sturdy and firm.

"Calm down," Sipore responded.

"Don't tell me to calm down! You're nothing but a right-hand xtro for the ape king," she thundered, her face burning hot like fire. Sipore remained stunned in silence.

She continued, "This pigeon is late. I have a leader to save! Who knows what he's going through right now?"

Sipore answered, "I know Heat. He'll be here in no time. And for your information, Heat's not a pigeon. He's an eagle."

"Lightnight, try relaxing. I'm sure he'll be here in no time." Sipore's sentence made her fury erupt.

"Stop making me angry! This is my room. If you continue, I'll kick you out!"

Sipore froze. Lightnight went across her room to the window. A room painted gray. A room big enough to fit more than ten elephants. One of the many rooms of the Kangaroo Castle.

She stared at the window, waiting for Heat to arrive.

From where she was standing, she saw it all. A kingdom surrounded by dry, hot sand. The temperature buried the kingdom in scalding air. The air tasted like a million peppers mixed together.

"He just got his crown," she murmured, her lungs barely carrying air. "Sipore, why should we wait for... him? He's not from here."

Sipore stood there quietly, unsure if he should answer her after her shouting.

"I miss him. I'm the one who should have him," deep thoughts entered her mind. "I can't believe that he was kidnapped."

Her eyes leaked out pain. She noticed that her breathing became harder.

She raised her hand and wiped the tears away. Her face turned and locked onto Sipore.

"I can't wait any longer!"

Sipore noticed the expression masking her face. A straightforward face. No pinch of humor was painted upon her voice.

Sipore kept calm. "I'm sorry, but I cannot allow you to do that," he said.

He thought, "If I let her go, King Gorame is going to smash me dead."

Lightnight snapped, "I've made my decision. And if you stand in my way—"

"What will you do?" he replied. His question was delivered straight to her. Their eyes carried the tension around them. The kingdom's heatwave became hotter.

"I'm warning you, Sipore," she said. Lightning energy gathered around her fists. "I don't want to force my way out. But if you stand in my way, I'll fight my way through."

"I'm sorry, but... I can't allow you to go. We have to wait for Heat," Sipore advised.

Lightnight lost her patience and attacked him. She punched him in the stomach. Sipore held both hands on his stomach, expressing the pain he felt from her punch.

Her foot thundered against his chest. He crashed against the wall. The wall cracked and collapsed onto his body. Sipore was buried under a pile of dust and rocks.

"I warned you," her voice was serious.

She slowly turned and faced the window. A blast of lightning blew it open.

The noise was disturbing, like an explosion of fireworks. The glass shattered apart. She tried to jump out of the room but felt something

.

A force was stopping her from moving.

"What's this? Why can't I move?" The thought crossed her mind. Her body barely took a step. Even her fingers froze still from the force.

Sipore slowly rose from the pile of rocks that buried him. His body was glowing bright, a sign showing that he activated his psychic powers.

"I won't let you leave. Lightnight, don't make things harder."

Lightnight struggled to break free from the psychic force.

"Let me go, moron!" she said.

"Fine. I'll let you go," Sipore sighed, seeing no end to the determined but stubborn kangaroo.

"Really?" she sounded surprised.

Sipore deactivated his psychic energy and made a proposal.

"On one condition. Let's first talk to King Gorame and see if he agrees with me."

Lightnight let out a sigh and folded her hands.

"Fine. Contact your father." Agreeing to the suggestion, but sounding stubborn.

"Finally, she calmed down. Well, almost..." Sipore thought as he dusted off his body.

Sipore used a mental ebatix, the Mind Connection.

He concentrated his psychic energy. From one continent to another, he connected to King Gorame's mind.

King Gorame was slumbering in his room, his mind at peace.

"King Gorame, wake up!" Sipore shouted.

King Gorame's eyes slipped open.

"What? Can't you see I'm resting!"

"I'm sorry, but Lightnight needs to talk to you," Sipore softly said.

"Fine, put... her... on," King Gorame yawned.

Sipore connected Lightnight and King Gorame's minds telepathically.

Lightnight started, "Greetings, your majesty. I want to tell you that I'm leaving for the mission. I won't waste my time waiting for your bird to arrive here."

"Lightnight, don't be reckless. This isn't like you," King Gorame responded. "This mission is personal for you, but push your feelings aside and think for a moment."

"Think? Don't tell me about that. I've been waiting for Heat for hours. I can't waste my time for an xtro I barely know," she said.

King Gorame jumped out of his bed. A furious punch slammed the bed flat. The room roared like an earthquake.

He growled, "Grrr, Lightnight! Listen to me, and listen carefully. I won't repeat myself again."

Lightnight shook with fear.

"Yes, your... majesty," she squeezed out her voice.

King Gorame barked, "If you dare leave the Kangaroo Kingdom before Heat arrives, I'll come over there and break every bone in your body. That includes Sipore."

"What? Why me? I didn't do anything wrong. Lightnight's the one who wanted to leave without Heat," Sipore protested.

King Gorame continued, "I don't care. Carry out your orders. Lightnight, don't rush the mission. He will be saved. Just calm down and be your usual self."

Lightnight felt sad but knew what had to be done.

Sipore deactivated his mind connection, cutting the telepathic communication between them.

"Your father's scary. Even from another continent, he still scares me," she remarked.

"Tell me about it," Sipore let out a light laugh.
