Chapter 16 - Advise

After days of flight, moving from one continent to another, Heat went back to his new master. The master was sitting outside of his castle, on the massive doorstep of his castle, gazing upon his kingdom.

"King Gorame!" Heat yelled out to him, landing from the sky. "It's been a while since we last spoke," he said, approaching the ape king.

"Heat, what a surprise," King Gorame replied. "How's your journey going so far?"

Heat said softly, "It's been rough. I... wanted to... talk about... something." His face looked down.

"Heat, did something happen?" King Gorame sounded concerned.

"Yeah," Heat responded, his voice lower than a sigh.

"This isn't like him. Where's the Heat I know? He's usually positive and rude about everything," King Gorame thought.

Heat continued, "During my mission with two elites of the Red Beast Kingdom, I... changed."

"Changed how?" King Gorame replied.

"I have a dark side hidden within my being," Heat said. "This side of mine is cold and merciless. A pure reflection of Yugitiwa."

A long silence came and took its place between them. The gentle breeze of the kingdom suddenly felt heavy. King Gorame broke the silence.

"Heat, I don't know what this darkness of yours is, but... I'll tell you something important."

Heat carefully raised his head and looked at him, his eyes desperate for an answer. He continued,

"Heat, you're still young." He moved from his spot toward Heat. "Do you see these statues around my castle, my home?"

Heat turned his focus and looked at each statue. King Gorame stated, his voice clear,

"I'm the tenth king of this kingdom. There are nine statues of the previous kings, and the tenth one is mine."

"Can you get to the point already!" Heat retorted, sounding annoyed by King Gorame's speech. "If you're trying to make me feel better, you're doing a terrible job."

King Gorame punched his head and shouted, "If you'd waited for a bit, I would have been done!"

He took a deep breath and said, "I was trying to tell you that you should try to be the best you can be. All the kings who came before me were legends in different stories. Each died, leaving behind tales that inspired many."

Heat looked at him and saw a spark in King Gorame's face. King Gorame clarified,

"You can't let anything get in your way. If you have a goal, achieve it. If you see a path, take it. But be aware, there's no such thing as an easy life."

Heat felt his heart bouncing back. He was shaking with excitement.

"I think I've got it. The point you're making is clear."

King Gorame remarked, "Now, this is the same fool I know."

Laughter escaped from their chests, a loud harmony of joy and happiness.

When they paused from laughing, King Gorame's memory clicked.

"Heat, I think I have a mission for you, and I need you to take care of it."

"What's up? I'm always up for a job," Heat gleamed with excitement.

"I had a feeling that he was going to say that. That fool is careless with words, but he's smarter than he looks," King Gorame thought.

"The Breamo leader of the Kangaroo Kingdom has been kidnapped by the Nogazu duo," he said.

"Wait, what..? But I thought that we captured the Nogazu duo and they were imprisoned in the Dragon Kingdom," Heat said with his beak wide open.

"Well, they escaped from their prison, and I want you to face them again. This time, you'll assist the Kangaroo Kingdom on my behalf. I'll inform them of your arrival," King Gorame informed him.

"The Kangaroo Kingdom? This sounds fun," Heat recklessly said.

"Get going! Fly as quick as possible," King Gorame growled.

Heat turned silent.

"Man, he can be so harsh most of the time," he thought.

He pounced up into the sky and flew away.
