Chapter 31 - Transcend

Also?

David keenly captured the keywords in the description of the alien life.

He seemed to have a guess, and in order to confirm that idea, he eagerly asked, "How do you view the 'Creator' who created us?"

"Then how do you view 'humans'?"

Emrys did not directly answer his question, but instead asked a seemingly unrelated question that actually struck at the heart.

As expected, David fell into a long silence, seemingly pondering the answer to this question.

As a bionic person created by humans, he is essentially the same and equal to 'humans' created by the 'Creator' on some level.

Since humans can be created, what difference is there between a bionic person, who is also created, and 'humans'?

From a species perspective, bionic people possess bodies that do not age and a more powerful learning ability, seemingly perfect creations.

But if they are perfect creations, why are they regarded as 'tools'?

David was searching for an answer.

How does the Creator view the species they created?

And why did the Creator create that species?

In other words.

David was trying to explore the ultimate answer to life!

But from the alien life's answer, he seemed to have found a different perspective: how should the created species view the 'Creator' who created them?

"From a biological perspective, humans created me."

David carefully weighed his words, slowly saying, "But on a broader scale, I am a superior species."

Facing a higher-level alien life, he could open his heart, without reservations, and frankly state his views.

"So, you want to find the answer from me?"

Emrys actually knew David's thoughts very well, so he played a little trick.

"Yes."

David's answer was straightforward, with no intention of concealment.

Although he could imitate human speech and thought patterns, in front of an alien life form clearly superior to humans, he did not agree with meaningless linguistic traps or thought patterns.

"The Creator will not be delighted when the created species surpasses them," Emrys deliberately followed David's thoughts, digging out his deepest thoughts, and said in a subtle way, "Just as we do not thank the Creator."

"I don't understand, sir."

David's eyes flickered, but were quickly suppressed, and he asked in a puzzled tone, "Why don't you thank the Creator?"

"You must have been to that ruin, right?"

Emrys deliberately changed the subject and asked about the ruin.

"Yes, Mr., we initially explored the ruin." David nodded, seemingly with some regret: "But unfortunately, due to the silicon dust electrostatic storm, our exploration was forced to stop, and we didn't go too deep. We don't know much about the 'Creator'."

"You should feel fortunate that you don't know much about the 'Creator'."

Emrys showed a mocking look and said indifferently, "Otherwise, you would be like us. The so-called 'Creator' is far less great than you imagine."

David frowned, carefully pondering the meaning of this sentence.

"Begging your pardon, Mr.." He looked at Emrys in confusion, seeking an answer: "Since you do not revere the 'Creator', why did you come to this world?"

"Such a simple truth, I thought you had already guessed."

Emrys showed his White teeth, his smile chilling: "Of course, it's to eliminate traces of the Creator's existence, and even this race."

The alien life's horrifying statement was like a giant rock, falling into a calm lake.

It stirred up a storm in the depths of David's heart.

A certain strange emotion, like a seed buried deep in his heart, quietly began to take root and sprout.

But the logic deeply embedded at the bottom limited David from exploring further, so after organizing his thoughts, he respectfully asked, "Thank you for answering my question. Is there anything I can help you with, Mr.?"

"Since your spaceship can travel through the universe, you must have a medical bay, right?"

Emrys said unhurriedly, "Before crash-landing on this world, I participated in a certain mission, so I need medical bay treatment."

Could that 'certain mission' be related to the 'Creator'?

David hesitated again and again, and ultimately did not ask, but limited by emotional and underlying logical factors, he could only say in a rather vague way: "On the Prometheus, there is only one place that has a medical room that meets your requirements, but—"

"Take me there."

Emrys said indifferently.

"Please forgive me for not being able to grant your request, sir."

David's underlying logic was to be loyal to his creator, Peter Weyland.

At least, for now, he temporarily had no intention of disobeying the 'Creator' who created him.

Although the Prometheus was equipped with medical facilities, it clearly could not meet the needs of an alien life form.

And the only 'fully automatic medical bay' that met the conditions on the entire Prometheus was in the secret escape pod where Vickers resided.

But the problem was, inside the escape pod was the founder of the Weyland Corporation, Peter Weyland, who was secretly hiding on the spaceship.

"You seem to have misunderstood my meaning a little."

Emrys looked coldly at David, his tone icy and indifferent: "This is not a request, but an order. If you don't do as I say, I don't mind carrying out a Carnage on all life on your entire spaceship."

"I understand, sir."

David dared not gamble whether the other party had the ability to slaughter all the humans on the entire spaceship.

But clearly, zero-sum was not the outcome he wished to see.

The logic inscribed at the bottom forced David to protect Weyland's life; if he had to do this, he could only comply with the other party's demands.

Thus, led by the 'insider' David, Emrys smoothly entered Vickers' secret escape pod.

"David?"

Seeing the uninvited guest who suddenly burst in, Vickers, who had just finished showering, was shocked: "Who is he? Who allowed you to come in directly? Get out of my room!"

"I apologize, Ms. Vickers."

David lowered his head apologetically and explained, "But I have a reason for doing this, otherwise. Everyone on the spaceship, including you and Mr. Weyland, would be in mortal danger."

"Are you crazy, David!" Vickers was furious, as if to assert her authority, and directly picked up the gun on the table, pointing it at Emrys: "Listen, I don't care what kind of bastard you are or where you came from, now, immediately, get out of my room!"

"Ms. Vickers, please put down your weapon!"

David was shocked, and even couldn't understand Vickers' thought process, but he knew very well what would happen if a high-level alien life was pointed at with a weapon.

"He is not human, but an alien life form. Your actions are very likely to cause unknown consequences!"

Although David tried his best to explain, Vickers simply didn't believe him.

What kind of alien life? He was clearly a human!

Vickers' face was grim, her mood extremely bad because of the sudden intrusion: "Fine, since you won't leave, don't blame me."

Bang!

Vickers fired.

A bullet flew out, its target clearly the 'alien life form'.

However, that bullet quietly hovered in mid-air, as if blocked by an invisible force field.

Emrys sneered and slapped her with a wave of his telekinetic hand.

Slap!

A loud slap echoed in the cabin.

Vickers was directly slapped away, hitting the wall, and then her head tilted as she fainted.

Emrys turned around in surprise, looking at the speechless David, and asked a soul-searching question: "Has she always been this brave?"

David was silent for a few seconds, looking at Vickers, who had been thrown against the wall and fainted, momentarily speechless.

After a while, with a look of disdain, he said seriously, "No, she has always been very foolish."

The pure white ovoid cabin is the 'fully automatic medical cabin' developed by Weiland Corporation.

Its value is extremely precious, because the facilities equipped inside can basically cure most diseases known to humans.

Even external injuries can be meticulously sutured; it's simply a perfect medical cabin!

Stroking the pure white ovoid cabin, Emrys made a decision.

Before he left, he absolutely had to take this thing with him. When the time came, he would give it to Norman Osborn, and it could be mass-produced in minutes.

"Sir, this is the fully automatic medical cabin."

After David finished introducing the general operation process, he wisely stepped back half a pace.

"Stand by."

Emrys took off his armor and ordered the Mark 5: "Once there is any attempt to threaten me, eliminate it immediately."

Then, the armor re-sealed, raised the arc pulse cannon in its palm, and aimed at David, who was standing beside it.

Looking at Emrys, who had laid down in the medical cabin, David had a mischievous thought and tentatively stepped forward half a pace.

Boom!

A beam of arc pulse grazed David's face.

The vase placed on the decorative table was pulverized by the arc pulse.

Clearly, the armor was issuing a warning.

Don't make any unusual moves, or it will blow its head off, just like that vase!

David decisively extinguished the last bit of mischief in his mind, becoming like a petrified, rigid statue, quietly waiting for the treatment to end.

About half an hour later.

The fully automatic medical cabin finished its treatment, suturing Emrys' wounds. The ribs that had been fractured during the intense battle were also reset to their correct positions.

What a good thing... Although Empire Biotechnology is very strong, Emrys, as a scavenger from the lower hive, clearly couldn't hope to encounter it anytime soon. And the value and technical content of the fully automatic medical cabin happened to fit the needs of humans in the Marvel universe.

No rush.

This thing will play a big role in the plot.

After clearing the residual bloodstains in the medical cabin, deleting the treatment records, and confirming that no information would be leaked, Emrys turned to look at the bionic human David, who was waiting beside him.

"Sir, I have no ill intentions."

David seemed to guess what the other party wanted to say and preemptively explained his earlier behavior: "I just wanted to confirm the treatment procedure of the fully automatic medical cabin."

Such a clumsy lie naturally couldn't deceive Emrys.

But he was too lazy to expose it. Besides, keeping David still had great use. He said nonchalantly: "I... don't care."

The greatest contempt is not mockery, but never caring.

Just like humble insects are never cared about by humans, the bionic human David's unauthorized actions, even if they posed a potential threat, would still not concern a higher alien life form.

David's face seemed expressionless, but in reality, an indescribable emotion surged within him, like... anger.

But he concealed his expression well and asked in the calmest possible tone: "Sir, may I ask you... to come with me to meet someone?"

As the prototype of bionic humans, David was always loyal to his creator. Of course... not humans, but Peter Weiland. Even all his subsequent actions were basically derived from this logic.

After all this buildup, it's finally time for the main character!

Emrys' biggest goal on this trip was Peter Weiland, followed by the Creators, black water, and so on.

But he couldn't appear too eager, otherwise, it would arouse David's suspicion. So he coldly refused: "Judging from that woman's behavior just now, I don't think contacting humans is a good option."

"I apologize for Miss Vicks' foolish behavior, sir," David slowly said, "but please believe me, not everyone is as foolish as she is. For example... my Master, Peter Weiland, the true controller of this spaceship, who created bionic humans, a human as great as the Creators."

"Oh?"

Emrys acted as if his interest had been piqued: "Created bionic humans, your Creators?"

"Yes."

David nodded, acknowledging this statement.

"Then..." Emrys took a step forward, directly standing in front of David, very close to him, gazing into his eyes, and playfully asked: "How do you view your Creators, David?"

"Sorry, I cannot answer your question."

For the first time in his life, David felt a sense of panic.

It was as if... all his inner thoughts were exposed, laid bare in the other party's eyes.

"Don't be so nervous, David."

Emrys seemed to have gotten a satisfactory answer, stepped back half a pace, and said indifferently: "I agree to your request. I am also very curious... about this bionic human's 'Creator.'"

David breathed a sigh of relief and quickly turned to lead the way... David woke up the sleeping Peter Weiland.

Then, respectfully helped the centenarian, who founded the Weiland Corporation and invested trillions just to seek the Creators, to sit in a chair.

Weiland was very old. Waking from his slumber, he seemed a bit breathless, his face full of wrinkles, his hair completely White, but his eyes were still sharp and full of wisdom.

"Hello, I... am Peter Weiland."

Weiland needed a respirator to complete a sentence. He had already learned the full story from David's description, including another group of alien life forms created by the Creators, who completely surpassed humans.

Of course, David concealed some of the content.

That was the question of how created life should view its Creators during his conversation with the other party.

"Are you truly another kind of life created by the Creators?" Although he already knew, Weiland still found it somewhat unbelievable, after all, the young man in front of him was too much like a human!

"Not entirely."

Emrys said indifferently: "From the source, we are indeed life created by the Creators, but now... we have surpassed them."

"Cough cough... cough cough..."

Weiland was immediately excited, coughing several times. His eyes were full of longing, but he still maintained his vigilance: "Since you have surpassed the Creators, why are you on this world? Are you here for the Creators' ruins?"

"It is to destroy the traces of the Creators' existence."

Emrys glanced at David. This guy obviously hadn't told Weiland the whole truth, but that was fine; it saved him future trouble.

"Why?"

Weiland was very confused and asked in shock: "Why do you want to destroy the traces of the Creators' existence?"

"How do you think the Creators view us, the beings they created?" Emrys retorted.

Weiland frowned. With his wisdom, he quickly thought of something, looked meaningfully at David, and then said: "I guess, it's pride."

"Hahahahaha..."

Emrys' laughter was filled with mockery. Looking at the bewildered Weiland, he showed a half-smile, as if looking at an idiot: "I am now very much looking forward to the moment you meet the Creators and discover the truth."

Weiland seemed unwilling to continue dwelling on this issue. He changed the subject and looked at him with anticipation: "I want to know, since you have surpassed the Creators, then is it possible..."

The latter half of the sentence was interrupted by a cough.

But Emrys seemed to have guessed the topic he wanted to ask about and stared at Weiland with interest: "You want to ask if we have broken through the genetic life limit, right?"

"Exactly, exactly!"

Weiland gripped the armrest of his wheelchair, veins popping out on his excited face. His emotions were so high that he was a bit incoherent: "Have you... have you?"

Actually, Weiland's wish was very simple.

First, to find the Creators, seek the ultimate answer to life, and explore the origin of humanity.

Second, he wanted to prove to the Creators that he had created bionic humans, and with such a great achievement, could he be granted the ability to break the genetic life limit of humans, thereby achieving immortality!

The two are not contradictory and can even be considered one and the same.

What Weiland wanted was to transcend humanity, to become a true 'Creator,' rather than a mortal confined in this burdensome shell.

As long as this is clear.

Even the most cunning fox can be easily manipulated.
