One hour later.
Wesker, right on schedule, escorted the number one 'troublemaker' of the Resident Evil series, Spencer, to the police station lobby.
To ensure this operation received a perfect evaluation in Emrys' mind and to prove his value, Wesker spared no expense, spending tens of millions of U.S. dollars.
The USS team members were exceptionally diligent, searching the entire ancient castle inside and out. All data related to the 'virus' was moved onto the helicopter.
A perfectly fine ancient castle was almost emptied by the USS' thorough search, practically no different from a house raid.
"Sir I've brought the person you requested."
Wesker not only brought 'Spencer' but also the old man's life's work and some letters and manuscripts about 'Miranda'.
"Very good, I am very satisfied with the speed of your work."
Emrys sat in the former police Director's chair, tapping his index finger on the desk, his gaze skipping from the letters to Spencer, who was tied up.
From his treatment, it was evident that Spencer had suffered greatly. Already very old and with inconvenient legs, he was tied up by Wesker like a pretzel, with his mouth gagged, and endured a bumpy journey. He was not far from breathing his last.
Poor Spencer, a man who had been a titan his whole life, using schemes and tricks to frame colleagues and seize power, never imagined that in his later years, he would be betrayed by 'his own people' and tied up from across great distances.
Although Spencer couldn't speak, his eyes told everything. If he hadn't been tied, he would probably have wanted to bite Wesker, that wolf-hearted bastard, to death.
Of course, Wesker didn't care. He turned to Emrys, who was seated, and humbly lowered his head: "Sir do you need me to untie him for you?"
Spencer desperately tried to squirm forward, but Wesker held him firmly to the ground. So, he could only settle for second best, gesturing with his eyes to Emrys that he had a lot to say.
Looking at the longing in Spencer's eyes, Emrys stopped tapping the table and chuckled, shaking his head: "No need, I have nothing I want to ask him."
Spencer's greatest value was the 'Source Power' he could provide to anchor the Resident Evil world.
As for Miranda, the mycelium virus... those things could be located directly by tracing the correspondence to that village. Then, Chris and Wesker could lead a team to retrieve them. Why bother asking this 'troublemaker'?
Spencer was stunned.
This... seemed a little different from what he had imagined. Shouldn't he be untied, then taken under his wing to continue researching the virus?
Wesker was also stunned. He had thought that Emrys' order to capture Spencer alive must have another purpose, but now it seemed... that was not the case at all!
Emrys picked up the bolter from the table, aimed it at Spencer's head, and said faintly: "Sorry, you... have no value to me whatsoever."
"Sob—!"
Spencer was terrified, his pupils suddenly constricting.
He didn't want to die. He still had a greater dream to achieve. He shouldn't die here. He still had research, the great evolution of humanity... Bang!
A bolt blasted Spencer's head to pieces.
It completely ended the life of this 'troublemaker', ending his fantasies. Until the very end... Spencer never had the chance to tell the other party his grand vision.
Wesker, standing nearby, was completely dumbfounded.
What was happening?
After all that trouble to catch him, he was just shot without even a question?!
So unpredictable!
Wesker suddenly became alert, and in his eyes, as he looked at Emrys, there was more submission and fear.
He secretly made up his mind that he must never be like Spencer. He must always demonstrate 'value', otherwise... Spencer's fate would be his future!
Emrys had no idea that his act of shooting Spencer had directly planted a huge shadow in the already cautious Wesker's heart.
However, even if he knew, he would probably just sigh that Spencer's death was truly worth it.
"Alright, go assist the others in resolving the virus leak in Raccoon City." Emrys waved his hand, signaling that he could leave.
"Yes, sir."
Wesker left the room nervously.
After the person left, Emrys finally had time to check the 'Traveler's' reminder.
[Killed Olvis Edward Spencer]
[Acquired Source Power: 2000 units]
[Do you want to fix the current world as a permanent anchor point?]
Nonsense, of course 'Yes'!
Emrys impatiently clicked confirm, wishing he could skip it directly, but unfortunately, the broken system didn't have that option.
[Anchoring in progress, please wait, Traveler]
[Loading...Loading...]
[Traveler, the current world anchor point has been fixed]
[Please 'name' this Anchor World]
"Resident Evil."
Still following the principle of simplicity and easy recognition, Emrys set Resident Evil as the world name.
[Third Anchor World, named successfully: Resident Evil]
[Your Traveler authority has been upgraded to 'Level 3']
[Traveler, based on your authority being upgraded to Level 3, the Traveler System will enter an update]
[After the update, more functions will be unlocked for you]
"Update?!"
This was a rare occurrence. Emrys was immediately overjoyed. He hadn't expected the Traveler could even update, but what he was even more excited about were the new functions that would come after the update!
"How long will the update take?" he asked curiously. Based on his previous web novel experience, it usually seemed to take quite a while. He was a little worried if it would delay his return.
[Traveler, this system has finished updating]
..."That fast?!"
Emrys was stunned. God Damn, it updated so quickly, he would never call it a broken system again.
[The following are the updates. Please read carefully, Traveler]
[World Exploration, Mandate of Heaven Blessing]
[World Exploration: Based on the current world's explored progress, divided into 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, a total of four stages. Corresponding rewards can be obtained (only for items within that world)]
[Blessing: A special blessing bestowed by the world Will, effective in all Worlds (ineffective in special Worlds)]
[Blessing: Live to Die]
[Cowards shall surely die, only courage and glory endure. Live to die, fight! fight! fight!]
[When the Traveler is on the brink of death, he can summon a surge of blood-courage, doubling his fighting spirit and physique, and gaining extraordinary skills. If cowardice arises, this blessing will disappear]
"..."
Looking at the two new functions, Emrys' mouth twitched slightly, his gaze fixed on Blessing':
"System, are you sure... this thing isn't a blessing given to me by Khorne?!"
Damn it, the yellow weasel is unreliable!
How could Khorne be like a vengeful female ghost, clinging to him across Worlds, and even concocting some 'blessing'?
Isn't this thing... a 'blessing'?!
"System, I need an explanation."
Emrys' tone was unfriendly. He was very agitated now, very confused as to why Khorne had specifically targeted him.
[Traveler, this 'Blessing' has always existed within your soul. When you grasped that demonic battle-axe to defeat the 'Chosen One', it flowed into your soul.]
Damn it... so it was his fault all along?
Emrys then remembered that he had thrown Khorne's Chosen One's battle-axe across time and space into the Alien universe, and it had later been left in the cargo hold of the world Lord.
What a calculation!
If anyone ever said Khorne had no brains again, Emrys would be the first to disagree. If this wasn't a trap set by Khorne, who would believe it?!
Now that he thought about it again, how could a Chosen One, harboring a demonic artifact, be so easily picked up by a mortal like him and even thrown into another time and space?
Isn't this purely a trap set by Khorne for him?!
Wait, from another perspective... Emrys rubbed his chin, and a bold idea suddenly popped into his head: "Since I'm already entangled with Khorne, does that mean... I can also use that demonic artifact battle-axe now?!"
Emrys pondered after his gaze left 'Heaven's Blessing'.
It seemed he had to go to the Alien universe to retrieve the 'Demonic Artifact' left in the 'Lord of the Worlds' cargo hold.
No matter how you looked at it, a 'Demonic Artifact' personally forged by Khorne could definitely be considered a trump card!
As for minor issues like heresy, he didn't really care.
After all, in the Warhammer Universe, when it came to demonic creations and heretical technology, everyone adopted an attitude of turning a blind eye.
As long as you weren't too excessive, didn't cause too much trouble, and didn't flaunt it everywhere, the Inquisitors wouldn't be able to find out.
Otherwise, if they truly investigated thoroughly, how many people would have clean hands?
First and foremost, not to mention anything else, some fanatical Inquisitors and certain tech-priests would be lucky to just be executed.
As long as he wasn't too blatant, there shouldn't be any problems.
Of course, unless you used a 'Demonic Artifact' in front of a Grey Knight, then there's truly no saving you; deliberately provoking them is simply seeking death!
"So, the next question, what does world Exploration Progress mean?" Emrys turned his attention to another new feature: "Can I see the current world's Exploration Progress? And how is the Exploration Progress categorized?"
"Traveler, world Exploration Progress is based on key information currently explored, such as 'plot' and 'critical items', which influence the world line."
"Current world Exploration Progress: 25%"
"Only 25%?" This was somewhat unexpected for Emrys; he had thought it should be around 50%.
But then, based on the 'Traveler's' prompt, he quickly guessed the reason: "Is it because the 'Prada' virus, 'E-virus', and 'C-virus' haven't been found, right?"
"Please explore on your own, Traveler."
"Alright, I understand."
Although the system did not respond directly, Emrys still confirmed his guess.
From its inception until his transmigration, the Resident Evil series had about nine types of viruses.
Although some of them weren't entirely new series, he had only obtained two so far. Roughly estimating, wasn't that 25%?
"What reward does 25% Exploration Progress give?" Emrys' focus was heavily on 'rewards'.
"25% Exploration Progress Reward: Perfect T-Virus."
"Item detected: Perfect T-Virus (Perfect)."
"A perfect quality T-Virus product with side effects removed. It allows the user to gain minor physical enhancement and recovery, and significantly enhances mental strength (perfectly compatible with any physique; if used by the Traveler, it can increase Psionic level, with no side effects)."
"Energy provided: 0 units."
"Is this thing a product of the movie universe?"
A deep blue helical agent fell into Emrys' hand, making him a little curious.
The deep blue liquid flowed within a helical glass tube, like a gene, shimmering with a tranquil glow, as if containing mysterious stars.
Judging solely from its appearance, there was almost no difference from the original T-Virus, but this thing could actually grant superpowers, just like in the movie universe where it gave the female protagonist Alice her abilities.
Unfortunately, the Traveler System did not answer his question, but it wasn't the first time, so Emrys didn't mind.
Looking at the 'Perfect Quality T-Virus' in his hand, after a few seconds of brief thought, he finally decided to trust the 'Traveler System'.
After all, if this thing wasn't trustworthy, he would probably have been played to death long ago.
He pressed the needle against his arm, and after pressing, the deep blue T-Virus liquid was slowly pushed into his body. A chilling sensation flowed through his blood vessels. Soon, Emrys had a 'reaction'; his brain felt as if it was about to explode!
"Ugh!"
Intense pain, like a red-hot iron rod, directly pierced his brain, accompanied by violent churning!
For a moment, his entire body convulsed and twitched, as if completely out of control, his consciousness dragged into a deeper space.
But unlike before, this time Emrys remained conscious.
He seemed to fall into the deepest layer of 'consciousness', immersed in an ethereal, indescribable dreamlike, hazy space.
However, in this deepest void of 'consciousness', he clearly saw two distinct bands of light, seemingly incompatible like fire and water, spiraling upwards.
One 'band of light', leaning towards crimson and blood-red, gave him a very familiar feeling, imbued with complex emotions and wills such as slaughter, war, courage, and glory.
The other 'color', however, constantly changed like a neon light, from mysterious deep purple to tranquil sky blue, and then to eerie pink. The emotions contained within were extremely faint, and even though he tried to delve deeper, he still couldn't glimpse its mystery, eventually having to give up.
And at the end of those two spiraling bands of light, there was a black hole-like, cold and silent glimmer.
Emrys curiously 'followed the flow upwards', but as he approached that glimmer, it contained countless pains, wails, and torments, like an endless torrent, converging the shouts, blessings, and prayers of billions of beings, instantly submerging his faint 'consciousness'!
The next moment, Emrys violently broke free from the realm of consciousness and returned to the material universe.
However, the cold sweat that permeated his body soaked his entire clothes, his convulsing body returned to normal, but he still twitched subconsciously, his limbs and bones aching as if he had just endured torture!
"What was that just now?"
Emrys' pupils contracted to pinpricks, sweating profusely, an uncontrollable chill surging into his mind!
That 'crimson, blood-red' band of light, without a doubt, should be the blessing of Khorne, and the changing colored band of light was most likely Tzeentch's.
But in the end... what about that cold, silent glimmer?
The pain, torment, anger, and wails experienced by billions of beings over ten millennia, mixed with blessings and prayers, could it be the Emperor himself on the Golden Throne?!
"Stop! Stop! Stop!"
Emrys frantically tried to stop his thoughts, forcing himself to cease speculating about the Emperor.
That human emotion, accumulated over ten millennia, was simply too vast; his consciousness was torn to shreds the moment he merely touched it.
It was hard to imagine how the true Emperor managed to endure, continuing to guide the Imperium of Man, which had fallen into an endless hell, for a full ten millennia!
After carefully sensing his current 'Psionic' ability, Emrys estimated that according to the Imperium's grading system, he should roughly be considered an 'Itan-level'.
Beyond that, one would truly cross into the 'Zeta-level' and 'Epsilon-level', which pose a substantial threat to the Imperium. Once discovered, they would often be closely monitored by Imperium agencies.
Generally speaking, the screening standard for Grey Knights begins at this level.
"No matter what, it's a good thing."
Emrys rubbed his temples. Regardless of how much of a cesspit the Warp was, at least in the perilous Warhammer Universe, it provided an extra layer of self-preservation.
Two days later.
The biochemical virus crisis in Raccoon City was finally completely resolved.
Emrys officially took over the Umbrella Corporation and, as the mastermind, carried out comprehensive reforms with bold strokes.
He established an absolute red line that must not be crossed: never allowing large-scale virus releases. Human experimentation could only be conducted on death row inmates from various countries, which prevented future troubles.
Ada and Wesker checked each other, Annie was the research director, Leon, Claire, Jill, and Carlos were assigned to the biochemical countermeasures department, specifically responsible for controlling and monitoring research to prevent large-scale virus leaks or Ada and Wesker from monopolizing power.
After determining the distribution of power, Emrys stored Arnie and the Tyrant alien in his private space, bid farewell to everyone, and went to an empty, uninhabited place.
"System, return!"
