Chapter 132 - Twins

Was it an illusion?

The premonition from the Sixth Sense made Emrys' heart tighten, yet the scanning mode of his power armor, even with Necron technology, shouldn't be completely avoidable, let alone leave no trace at all.

No matter what, this power armor was, after all, a Primarch, an ancestor created by 'The God'!

Unless it was the legendary 'Pharaoh' of the Necrons, even the detection of an 'Overlord' should not exceed it's limits.

Emrys was confident about this.

He couldn't be so unlucky as to encounter a 'Pharaoh' in a random mine on Vigilus, could he?

The probability was too low!

Impossible, absolutely impossible!

Boom!

From afar, another violent explosion erupted from the location of the black obelisk, and chaotic sounds abruptly pulled him back from his thoughts to reality.

"Maybe I'm just too nervous" In the end, Emrys, unable to find any clues, could only attribute the illusion he had just experienced to being overly anxious.

Despite this, he remained on high alert, after all, this was once the relic of the galactic overlord, the 'Necrons'... No one could predict what might happen here.

Lost in thought, Emrys shook his head, casting aside distractions, and quickened his pace. If he let these people continue to make a ruckus, and they truly woke up the 'Necron', no one would have a good outcome!

Soon, he arrived at the periphery of the battle.

What greeted his eyes were the Arbites special police led by the Inquisitor, and a squad of Space Marines from the Brass Claws, fiercely battling a force from the Chaos side!

The strength of both sides was roughly equal. The Chaos side had only three squads, totaling around thirty Fallen Space Marines, attempting to seize control of the black obelisk.

The Inquisitor's forces consisted mostly of Arbitrators and special police, with only one ten-man Space Marine squad, using the black obelisk as a stronghold to resist the Chaos offensive.

But anyone with a discerning eye could see that this stalemate could not last much longer.

From the situation, the Imperium was already at a disadvantage; if nothing unexpected happened, they would soon be overrun by Chaos!

Seeing this, Emrys immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, Chaos had not sent many people, only three squads, otherwise he would truly be at a loss.

And it looked like both sides were fighting tooth and nail, yet the tomb, which very possibly housed a sleeping 'Dynasty', still showed no reaction. This at least proved his hypothesis: the Lord was still sleeping!

This was one of the few pieces of good news so far!

So, the only problem left was... how to resolve the current situation!

If they continued to make a fuss, they might just wake up the 'Lord', and a few million years of morning grumpiness was a terrifying thought.

As Emrys was pondering how to stab these Chaos scum in the back, the corner of his eye suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure!

That slender figure directly intruded into the combat zone. He initially thought it was a suicidal, mentally unstable scavenger, but very quickly... the scene that unfolded before everyone's eyes shocked them!

Countless bolter rounds and laser blasts, like raindrops, struck the slender figure, but all were instantly warped by some invisible force!

Around the slender figure, it was as if there was an invisible domain, distorting anything that tried to threaten his life!

Instantly!

The Imperium and Chaos, who had just been eager to smash each other's brains out, fell into an eerie silence!

Yes, the Imperium and Chaos stopped fighting!

A once-in-a-lifetime scene unfolded before Emrys. Both groups seemed to have been put on pause, tacitly simultaneously ceasing fire.

And what caused this scene was not some terrifying entity, but merely a... slender figure, approximately fifteen or sixteen years old, covered in dirt, and whose gender was indistinguishable!

The figure was so frail that it seemed a gust of wind could blow him away, yet even so... his appearance made everyone present break out in a cold sweat!

Beads of cold sweat, like soybeans, instantly drenched Emrys' back. He felt as if he was being suppressed by an invisible gravity, almost unable to straighten his back!

Despite being in such a heavily radiated environment, the slender figure wore no equipment whatsoever, practically walking naked through the highly radioactive, high-temperature underground world!

Even more terrifying was that the space-time around the slender figure seemed to be 'disconnected' from its surroundings, as if severed by some invisible force!

It... appeared!

His pupils suddenly constricted, as small as pinpricks!

The slender figure seemed completely unaware that he had entered a combat zone, as if oblivious to everyone around him, mechanically and stiffly rummaging through the discarded trash in the ruins.

And neither the Inquisitor from the Imperium nor the Space Marines from Chaos dared to make a single move, simply watching as the small figure picked up trash right under their noses!

What is a sense of oppression?

This is it!

Just one person, and he stopped both the Imperium and Chaos!

The reason no one dared to move was simple: that slender figure was the 'psyker' who had caused the explosion and had not yet fully awakened!

Judging solely from the scale of the last explosion, he was at least a 'Delta'-level psyker!

It's no exaggeration to say that with a single thought, he could twist everyone present into pretzels, whether you were an ordinary person or a Space Marine!

The slender figure passed a Chaos Space Marine, then looked down at his feet.

The Chaos Space Marine's gun trembled slightly, and the ominous red gaze of his auspex inside his helmet seemed to vibrate, clearly indicating he was at his limit of tension!

But, just then.

Snap!

The Space Marine was instantly crushed into a meat patty by a surge of gravity, so quickly that... he didn't even have time to scream!

His power armor, which he wore, offered him no defense whatsoever; he was suddenly and without warning crushed into a bloody pulp!

This extremely shocking scene undoubtedly sent a jolt through everyone's nerves!

That was a Space Marine!

Clad in hard power armor, yet still unable to withstand being crushed in an instant!

On the scene, even breathing sounds were barely audible. Everyone clearly understood that the best course of action now was to absolutely not 'provoke' the other party!

No, not just provoke.

Even the slightest large movement was forbidden, otherwise, any action that made the 'psyker' feel threatened would lead to unimaginable and terrifying consequences!

The frail psyker squatted down at the spot where the Chaos Space Marine had been, rummaging with his pale fingers. Finally, from the ruins mixed with flesh, he pulled out a worn-out... power cell!

Yes, it was because that Chaos Space Marine had been stepping on a power cell!

As a result, he was crushed into a meat patty!

The psyker, having found the power cell, seemed extremely pleased, gesticulating like an idiot, a smile blooming on his mud-stained face.

"Hehehe, hehehe"

Next, the frail psyker turned his gaze towards the human side.

In an instant, several Arbitrators whose gazes met his, as if seeing something terrifying, couldn't help but scream, uncontrollably retreating a few steps and aiming their guns at him!

Seeing this, the Inquisitor in the squad was immediately terrified and roared, "Don't!"

However, he was ultimately half a step too late!

The moment the guns were aimed, those Arbitrators began to wither, as if their flesh and blood were being drained by some invisible force. In just a few seconds, they turned into desiccated corpses!

And what followed was an even more terrifying scene!

From the shriveled bodies of the Arbitrators, blood was extracted, and then from the blood floating in mid-air, little by little... water was precipitated out!

That's right, it was water!

The human body contains over 70% water, but Emrys found it hard to imagine that one day he would witness firsthand... the sight of water being extracted from a human body!

The extracted water floated around him, a substance that should have been liquid, yet it was like a solid, capable of being grasped and shaped by him.

"Gulp... Gulp"

He opened his mouth, greedily 'chewing' the pure water extracted from the human bodies. Soon, a look of satisfaction appeared on his face.

Then, the frail figure wiped his mouth, tucked away the power cell, and, seemingly content, swayed as he prepared to leave.

What to do?

The Arbitrators on the human side turned their gaze to the Inquisitor, asking him what they should do next.

The Space Marines on the Chaos side also seemed to be asking their Commander what to do.

After a brief hesitation, both groups tiptoed, like thieves, cautiously following behind the psyker.

"Damn Chaos scum!"

"Heh, lackeys of the Corpse-Emperor!"

"What did you say?!"

"I said what you believe in is nothing but a decaying corpse!"

"Nonsense, are your Four Gods any good?"

And so, a strange scene unfolded.

The Inquisitor and the Chaos Commander hurled insults at each other, eager to draw blades and cleave each other's heads open, yet they dared not make a move!

Both sides cursed at each other in hushed tones, yet had no choice but to travel together, following behind the psyker.

And Emrys, hiding in the shadows, couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth seeing this scene.

No other reason, it was just too absurd!

An Inquisitor and Chaos traveling together, and peacefully at that... In his two lives, he had never seen such a bizarre sight!

Of course, this wasn't because the Inquisitor was cowardly, nor because Chaos was easy to talk to. The reason why two factions, who were naturally at odds and would fight on sight, could temporarily coexist peacefully, lay with that 'psyker'!

Delta-level and above psykers, mostly due to their close connection to the Warp, often suffer from innate idiocy or madness, making it difficult for them to think like normal people.

Even the world in their eyes is vastly different from that of normal people!

In such a situation, for both the Chaos side and the Imperium of Man, not provoking the psyker was the best course of action!

Otherwise... even with ten times more people, trying to control a super-high-risk psyker would be an almost impossible feat!

Clearly, Chaos wanted to bring the psyker back, to corrupt and debase him. A psyker of this level, once he falls to Chaos, would at least be an SSR card!

The Unborn... is the term for such psykers before they fall to Chaos and are elevated to Daemon Princes, which shows how immense the inherent value of a high-risk psyker is!

If he fell into the Imperium of Man, what awaited that psyker would most likely be lifelong imprisonment. Killing him was unlikely... at least not in the short term!

Without a foolproof method, with massive legions, Titans, and Silent sisters, no one could bear the potential dangers that might arise when killing a psyker of this caliber!

Even a slight mistake could lead to the entire Vigilus being dragged into the Warp, a colossal loss that the Imperium could not afford!

But one thing struck Emrys as very strange.

If Chaos' main plan was to completely destroy the 'Vigilus' through this psyker, then there would be no need to be so cautious.

Or rather, provoking this psyker to make him completely lose control and detonate this huge bomb would be more in line with Chaos' goals.

Unless... Chaos had a greater ambition!

With this suspicion, Emrys, like a mantis stalking a cicada with an oriole behind, concealed himself and quietly followed behind the two groups.

Soon, the frail psyker, amidst the ruins of the Necron relic, arrived at a relatively well-preserved relic. He stooped and squeezed through a damaged crack in the entrance.

This crack was very small, making it difficult for a normal person to pass through, let alone a Space Marine of their height, who clearly couldn't squeeze in. But they also couldn't make too much noise, so both sides once again fell into a stalemate!

In the tense atmosphere, Chaos didn't want the Imperium of Man to be the first to reach the psyker, and the humans were also wary of Chaos.

The Chaos Space Marine Commander ordered his subordinates to find other entrances, and the Inquisitor immediately made the same decision as Chaos.

Whoever could reach the psyker first and gain his trust meant whoever had a greater chance of controlling this psyker!

As both sides searched for other entrances, Emrys, who was following behind, had already used the scanning mode of his armor to create a 3D model of the relic.

He found the entrance to the relic before both groups!

Emrys avoided everyone's sight and, following the entrance he found, burrowed deep into the relic.

He had his own considerations for doing so.

Delta-level psykers and above were too dangerous, completely uncontrollable. Instead of leaving him on Vigilus, facing the constant danger of an explosion, it would be better to throw him into another universe!

He refused to believe that a mere psyker could somehow explode into a 'Warp'!

With this thought, Emrys followed the traces left by the psyker in the relic, tracking him deep inside.

Deep within the Necron relic was a huge, empty circular plaza. Around the inner ring area stood four black spires!

The frail psyker poured the water he had brought from outside into a rusty iron pot, then placed the power cell in a certain spot outside the inner ring spire area.

Finally, he handed the iron pot filled with water to a thin, small child, who looked to be less than ten years old, waiting inside the inner ring spire.

"Hehehe, drink... drink"

The frail but older psyker smiled foolishly, looking at the child in the inner ring.

The child in the inner ring also seemed to be mentally unstable. Seeing the frail psyker, he opened his arms and staggered towards him.

The moment the child's foot stepped out of the inner ring surrounded by the four spires, an unprecedented pressure, like a tsunami, engulfed the entire plaza!

At this moment, Emrys could clearly feel the entire space trembling, as if groaning under an unbearable burden, emitting a wailing sound of cracking!

"Holy crap?!"

He immediately widened his eyes, his pupils contracting sharply!

But the next second, the frail psyker screamed, clutching his head, seemingly afraid, moving away from the child who was about to step out of the inner ring.

The child also seemed to realize something, and with a wronged look, retracted his half-stepped foot. The pressure that had permeated the entire plaza instantly vanished, as if it had never appeared!

Looking at the four black spires, Emrys' forehead broke out in large beads of cold sweat: "Blackstone constructs that can suppress psychic powers, so the real danger... is that child!"

Just stepping out half a step could cause such a terrifying commotion. Could that child... be an 'Alpha'-level psyker?!

Twins, this is not a good omen!
