Chapter 133 - Hamburger

It's over.

This was the first thought that flashed through Emrys' mind.

Immediately following was an uncontrollable tremor, like an electric current coursing through his entire body, raising goosebumps on every inch of his skin.

To be precise, this was not a fear brought on by reason, but a primal fear originating from the depths of his soul, etched into the genetic level of biological beings—an instinctive dread of anything that could threaten life, a reaction to 'Death' itself!

The four pitch black spires were clearly 'Blackstone' creations of the Necrons.

'Blackstone' originated with the Necrons; no one knew how it came into being, but it possessed an extremely unique function.

But what was even more terrifying was that Blackstone could serve as both a device to shield Warp powers and an 'amplification' device!

The former world of Cadia was destroyed by the impact of a 'Blackstone Fortress,' which tore open the 'Cicatrix Maledictum' across the galaxy, allowing the powers of the Warp to surge into the material universe, unleashing the turbulent malice of Chaos like a tsunami!

From the observations just now, the child inside the inner ring of the 'Blackstone Spire' was the 'culprit' who caused everything!

Just taking half a step nearly caused the entire space to collapse.

At that very moment, Emrys had the illusion of facing the 'Warp' directly.

That child was practically a mobile 'Warp Gate'; he didn't even need to deliberately draw out psychic energy. His subconscious psychic power was like raging waves and a tsunami, capable of tearing apart an entire world in an instant!

Although Emrys had no specific way of measuring it, and didn't quite understand the boundaries of power levels.

However, he experienced the difference most intuitively from the child.

It was like a chasm, no, it was the difference between a drop of water and the vast ocean, a huge, abyssal gulf!

He had to exert all his strength just to tear a Warp rift in the material universe, yet the child didn't even need to do it intentionally; a mere subconscious action could tear open a Warp rift capable of devouring an entire world!

The most crucial point was that a psychic of 'Alpha' level had already exceeded human limits. Their minds were inherently unstable, capable of going berserk at any moment, and there was almost no possibility of restraining them with reason!

In other words, it was impossible to communicate with them using normal human thinking, let alone control them.

Emrys finally understood, or rather, felt it.

Why the Imperium and the Inquisition harbored such animosity towards high-level psychics, even executing them.

Nothing proved how terrifying a high-level psychic truly was more than this fact!

Just the unconscious psychic tide emanating from the child after he stepped out of the 'Blackstone Spire' nearly incinerated the projection of Emrys' soul in the Warp. Not to mention what terrifying things the child would do if he were conscious!

Big trouble, Emperor!

This kind of problem should be handled by the Grey Knights, not him!

Emrys, hidden in the shadow, had a bitter expression. He had already abandoned his original plan. Throwing a 'Delta' level psychic into an Alien universe might just be a big firework, but an 'Alpha' level psychic... that was out of the question.

It wasn't that he was afraid of blowing up a 'Warp' rift, but with an Alpha's psychic intensity, if he were to get even slightly emotional during the teleportation process, he could be reduced to dust, bones and all, in an instant!

Unless there was a way to stabilize the Alpha, Emrys would not escape death even if he risked his life and successfully transferred him!

No matter how fast he moved, it would take at least a few seconds.

A few seconds would be enough for an Alpha to grind him to dust tens of thousands of times over.

Suddenly, the child in the inner ring of the Blackstone Spire turned his gaze towards Emrys' hiding spot: "Are you here to steal something?"

The child's voice was very childlike, but to Emrys' ears, it was like falling into an ice cellar!

The older child immediately turned his head vigilantly, following the gaze: "Come, come out!"

Perhaps his act of hiding in the shadow caused the two children's emotions to become tense. Instantly, a raging torrent like a tsunami completely engulfed every corner of the plaza, and space twisted visibly!

In an instant, cold sweat poured out. Emrys desperately controlled his emotions, trying his best to appear 'harmless'.

"Don't get excited, I stumbled in here by mistake."

He swallowed, his forehead covered in nervous sweat, and cautiously stepped out of the shadow, raising his hands above his head and even disengaging his 'Heaven-Shaking Venerable' battle armor to express his 'goodwill': "Calm down, I have no ill intentions towards you!"

Disengaging the battle armor was partly to avoid escalating the conflict, and partly because... it wouldn't have made a difference even if he wore it.

In front of a suspected 'Alpha' psychic, let alone wearing the Heaven-Shaking Venerable battle armor, even if he were hiding inside a 'Titan', the difficulty for the other party to crush him would be about the same as stepping on an ant.

It was no exaggeration to say that just one Alpha-level psychic was enough to ignite a world-destroying war!

"Believe me, I have no ill intentions!"

Emrys nervously reiterated, trying his best to remain motionless.

He finally understood how that Chaos Space Marine felt when he was stared at by this child.

This feeling was absolutely terrible!

It was as if an invisible hand was clutching his throat, his life seemingly not his own, as if it could be taken away at any moment!

However, the two children remained highly vigilant, especially the older, scrawny 'Delta' child, who stared at Emrys with fierce eyes, his face showing undisguised disgust and fear!

Not good, trouble's coming!

For a few seconds, Emrys even heard the psychic shriek from the Warp!

He had to do something, otherwise he was truly dead this time, the kind that even a Living Saint couldn't save.

Emrys' brain raced, thinking about how to break the stalemate.

First, transferring to another world was clearly not feasible, as his position would not change each time he returned.

Secondly, military deterrence wouldn't work either. With these two together, even a Titan Legion would struggle.

"Wait, wait!" Emrys, in a flash of inspiration, seeing the atmosphere about to drop to freezing point, shouted, drenched in sweat: "I have food!"

Food?

At the sound of these words, the oppressive atmosphere pervading the plaza vanished in an instant.

The older, scrawny child paused for half a second, the disgust and fear on his face receding, replaced by curiosity: "Food, where?"

Emrys, as if by magic, pulled out a steaming, enticingly fragrant... hamburger from his personal space.

He had never been so grateful that, due to his craving, he had specifically bought many hamburgers, fried chicken, fries, cola, and other combos when he returned from the 'Transformers' universe, storing them in his personal space to satisfy his cravings.

He never expected that this unintentional act would save his life today.

Thank you, KFC, thank you, McDonald's!

If he ever got the chance, he would definitely build a temple for them both.

While 40K had rich and juicy Grox meat, its deliciousness was clearly more than a notch below the cuisine of the 21th century era.

Hamburgers, though not considered 'gourmet' food, their unique aroma immediately made the two children, who had never seen them before, show drooling expressions, with saliva even trickling from the corners of their mouths.

"This, hamburger!"

Emrys held a hamburger in one hand and gave a thumbs-up with the other, revealing his white teeth, looking very much like a salesman, his face beaming with a smile: "Delicious, tasty, for you. Shall we be friends?"

If an Inquisitor had seen this scene, they would probably have their eyes wide.

Bribing psychics with 'delicacies' was a tactic that, if not unprecedented, was certainly unlikely to be repeated!
