Chapter 138 - Close your eyes and witness

"You saved me again…" Emrys sighed inwardly, looking at the 'Rosarium' that seemed a bit dim. He wondered when he would see Winnie again; they still had a date.

On the other side, sister Silent clearly recognized the 'Rosarium' but remained vigilant. Her blade was at Emrys' throat as she turned to Marshall, seemingly asking for his opinion.

"Is that you?" Marshall stared at Emrys. His handsome face, even in the dark corridor, could not hide his aristocratic demeanor. He frowned slightly, "Merlin Emrys, why are you here?"

"You know me?"

Emrys was a little surprised that he was already so famous, but… being remembered by an Inquisitor was not a good thing!

"Heh, of course I know you." Marshall, however, sneered back, a hint of displeasure on his face, "I investigated you. In the cult incident in the Central Sector, there seemed to be traces of contact with unknown xenos."

As he spoke, Marshall gave sister Silent a look, and she retracted her 'Soulless' domain.

"Slander! This is slander against me!"

Emrys immediately became agitated, his face flushed as he shouted, "I am loyal to the Imperium! I have shed blood for the God-Emperor! I have rendered meritorious service to the Imperium! Don't think that just because you're an Inquisitor, you can slander good people!"

"Enough, I don't have time to waste with you!" Marshall glared at him and said coldly, "Why are you here? Explain yourself!"

"Isn't it obvious?"

Emrys smiled, pushed the blade away with his index finger, and politely nodded to sister Silent, "Thank you for your mercy, madam. If you don't mind, would you consider a change of job? For example… come aboard my ship!"

Marshall's forehead veins throbbed; he seemed to have reached his limit of patience and glared at him, "I don't have time to play with you now, explain yourself quickly!"

Outside, the alien army was approaching, and the remaining forces wouldn't hold them off for long. They had to race against time; where did they have time to chat and joke with him?

"Lord Marshall, my goal here is the same as yours." Emrys slowly got up and dusted himself off, "I followed behind you, infiltrated here in advance, and… solved the problem!"

"Solved… the problem?"

Hearing this, Marshall and Tasha were both stunned.

But Marshall immediately expressed doubt, scrutinizing him, "How can you prove what you said?"

"I can swear to the God-Emperor!" In the Warhammer Universe, swearing was almost always effective. Of course, to prevent the other party from disbelieving, Emrys added, "I swear on the honor of the Emrys family!"

Inquisitor Marshall remained half-skeptical, "With your limited ability, how could you possibly eliminate a 'Delta' level psyker?"

It wasn't that he didn't believe him; it was just too preposterous!

Marshall could tell that Emrys was also a psyker, but his level was probably not high, not even as good as his own. How could he deal with a Delta?

"Lord Marshall, sometimes solving a person doesn't necessarily require great power, does it?" Emrys smiled slightly, speaking with a hint of mystery, "Besides, it's quite normal for Rogue Traders to have some strange tools, isn't it?"

Hearing this, Marshall was mostly convinced.

Not to mention that swearing by the 'Emperor' and 'family' was a very solemn promise. Combined with the reputation of the Emrys family and the ancient Rogue Trader dynasty's heritage, eliminating a Delta was not difficult.

But to be safe, Marshall knelt down and activated a specialized psychic detection device, "Give me a minute."

Emrys stood by, his gaze burning as he stared at Tasha until she frowned tightly, showing a hint of discomfort.

"Esteemed sister Silent, are you really not considering working on my ship?" Emrys rubbed his hands enthusiastically, "My place is much better than the black-hearted Inquisitor's; you get weekends off!"

The Inquisitor, who was inspecting nearby, almost choked. He turned and glared at him fiercely. You shameless Rogue Trader, trying to poach people right in front of me, huh?

Tasha gave Emrys a helpless look, clearly indicating her refusal with sign language, and stepped back to create distance.

Soon, Marshall finished his inspection and nodded to sister Silent, "He's right. There are no high-intensity psychic reactions here anymore. The target has been eliminated. We can retreat!"

He turned and glared at Emrys, "You'd better behave. Tasha has an important mission and cannot go with you!"

Important mission?

Emrys pondered for a few seconds. He vaguely remembered that after the Primarch gathered the sisters Silent, they had a fight with Little Bro on the moon?

"It's time to retreat!"

Marshall's steps were hurried.

When the group emerged from the corridor, they found that the Necron Warriors had formed an encirclement. However, the difference was that the Chaos faction was fighting and retreating, gradually withdrawing towards the ruins.

It seemed they were determined to take that psyker with them, even if it meant going all out!

And the human side, after losing the Chaos flank, immediately fell under immense pressure, their living space gradually being compressed!

The Gauss weapons equipped by the Necron Warriors could fire energy beams, similar to green lightning, from their muzzles, disintegrating enemies' bodies at the molecular level!

In just a few minutes, the humans suffered heavy casualties, with fewer than fifty remaining, including the Space Marines of the Brass Claws.

Seeing this, Marshall's heart sank, "It looks like… we can't escape."

If it had been before the Necron Warriors had fully formed their encirclement, they might have had a chance to escape by fighting hard.

But now, Necron Warriors were everywhere. With their small numbers, it was impossible to break through!

"May I presumptuously ask you a question, Lord Marshall?"

After stopping, Emrys turned to Marshall and said faintly, "How do you view xenos?"

"At a time like this, do you really have to ask such a useless question?!" Marshall cursed irritably, "All xenos should die, are you satisfied?!"

"Then, what if it's an alien that can save us?" Emrys seemed to imply something, a slight curve on his lips as he smiled, "I'm very curious, how do you view them?"

Marshall wasn't stupid and immediately guessed Emrys' idea, "You have a way?!"

However, Emrys smiled but remained silent, not directly answering his question to avoid giving away any leverage.

That's how the Imperium was.

Some things, you can do, but you cannot say!

Because once it's spoken, it means there's an excuse, making it easy for people to seize on it.

"Damn it, you cunning brat!" Marshall bit his lip and glared at him, "I believe that as an Inquisitor, in times of necessity and need, one can borrow the power of xenos. This is not a betrayal of the Imperium, but rather a better way to serve the Imperium. Are you satisfied?!"

He's so understanding!

Marshall's sensible behavior utterly astonished Emrys. This guy understood far more than that stubborn girl Winnie!

"Order everyone to retreat into the corridor."

Emrys was the first to return to the corridor.

Marshall, not understanding his intention, could only choose to bet on Emrys, so he ordered all remaining personnel to retreat into the corridor.

Once the corridor was packed with people, Marshall asked nervously, "What method do you have? Speak quickly, don't waste time!"

"Please have everyone close their eyes."

Next, Emrys made another seemingly absurd request.

"Close our eyes and wait to die?"

Marshall gritted his teeth in anger but could do nothing about Emrys.

So, everyone closed their eyes.

Emrys looked into the dark depths of the corridor, a smile on his face, "Now, it's time to witness a miracle… Count to three, then open your eyes!"

Heh heh, let the Chaos scum slowly search in these ruins; they'd be lucky to find anything!

They were leaving first!

"Power, spatial teleportation!"

Just as the spatial energy fluctuated, a speck of 'dust' fell from who knows where, sticking to Inquisitor Marshall's clothes. Amidst the surging energy, it seemed to glow with a faint… eerie green light!
