Chapter 139 - Trazyn

Boom! Boom! Boom!

In the vast ruins square, the three squads sent by the Chaos Raptors were desperately resisting the tide-like, endless stream of Necron Warrior legions pouring out from the front passage!

The muzzle flashes of bolters and the green lightning bolts from gauss weapons intertwined in the dark space, illuminating each other's faces!

However, even though they were the most elite vanguard under the Chaos Lord, possessing the strength to fight a hundred foes, they couldn't withstand the sheer numerical superiority!

Their bodies, converted into living metal, harbored no fear and would not stop advancing due to the death of their comrades!

The more terrifying aspect was that they simply couldn't 'die.' Chaos Commander Hal personally witnessed metal skeletons, killed by them, being repaired by the surrounding metal scarabs and rejoining the ranks in less than half a minute!

How could they possibly fight like this?!

Facing a metallic Necron legion that couldn't be killed and felt no fear, even the Chaos Space Marines, renowned for their madness, couldn't help but feel despair!

Hal was the Captain of this Chaos Raptors company. He had a brilliant combat record and was Haarken World-Eater Harken's most trusted adjutant!

His mission was to retrieve the 'Unborn,' but the problem was… the ruins were so small, they had searched almost everywhere, yet couldn't find a single hair of that psyker!

Not only that, according to his original plan, they would destroy the other passages, trapping the humans in one passage to block these damned 'xenos' for them.

But what was the result?

In less than half a minute, these xenos charged in, giving them no time to react, and they were quickly surrounded!

The Imperium? Save us!

Hal really wanted to curse that damned Inquisitor. How useless were they, unable to hold out for even half a minute?

"Captain, do you think it's possible" his adjutant cautiously asked, "That they've already escaped?"

After all, no matter how one thought about it, with the advantage of terrain, humans shouldn't have been unable to hold out for even half a minute, right?

They were quite formidable when fighting them earlier, so why were they crushed so quickly once it was the 'xenos'?

Hal was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head abruptly: "Impossible. I know the Imperium's Inquisitors very well. Even if they all sacrificed themselves, he wouldn't stand by and let us steal the 'Unborn.' He knows better than anyone… what a disaster this would cause for the Imperium and Vigil.

"But… we haven't found him either!"

The adjutant was on the verge of tears, somewhat collapsing: "We've searched almost everywhere in this place, and we still haven't found the 'Unborn'!

This was the real problem!

According to psychic detection, there indeed existed high-intensity psychic residue here, but the problem was… they had dug almost three feet deep and still hadn't seen any trace of the 'Unborn'!

"Keep searching!"

Hal's eyes widened in anger, and he gritted his teeth: "I refuse to believe it. The 'Unborn' can't just fly away, can he? In such a small area, he can't have just vanished into thin air!"

Yes, the Unborn couldn't just disappear into thin air, could he?

Hal directed two teams to act as a pincer movement, fending off the Necrons pouring from the entrance, while the remaining squad members meticulously searched for the 'Unborn'.

Currently, the only good news was that they had preemptively destroyed the other entrances, forcing the numerous Necron Warriors to funnel through a single narrow entrance, which greatly alleviated their pressure!

But soon, as time passed, Hal's face showed despair.

Couldn't find him!

Couldn't find him anywhere!

The target, the 'Unborn', had truly vanished into thin air!

Could it be… Hal's pupils constricted as he thought of the equally 'disappeared' Inquisitor, and a bad premonition immediately arose: "They already found the 'Unborn' beforehand and took the target away secretly while we were forced into the ruins?!"

After much thought, it seemed that this was the only conjecture that best fit the situation!

"Inquisitor Marshall… I'll remember you!" Hal crushed his helmet, revealing his ferocious face, and growled resentfully: "Don't let me ever run into you again!!!"

But unfortunately, the next second.

The adjutant's voice entered his ears, saying bitterly: "Captain, we… are out of ammunition!"

Misfortunes never come singly.

The ammunition they carried was not much to begin with, and in the continuous fierce battles, it was quickly exhausted, turning their bolters into scrap metal!

Out of ammunition and supplies, that was their current situation!

Without suppressing fire, the Necron Warriors became even more reckless, pressing them while pouring out of the entrance, completely encircling the three Chaos Raptors squads.

If it had been a few minutes earlier, relying on their individual strength, they might have had a chance to break through.

But unfortunately, in their search for the Unborn, they had already missed the best opportunity to break out, becoming completely surrounded and cutting off their last ray of hope!

"For the great Chaos Warmaster!"

Hal roared in fury, drawing his chainsword and immediately cleaving a Necron Warrior attempting to charge in. Then, with a sweeping slash, several more metallic skeletons were brutally cut in half by him!

At this point, the only path left for them was to fight the xenos to the death!

But strangely, the Necron Warriors surrounding them also abandoned their suppressing fire and instead attempted to engage in close combat!

The two sides began the most brutal melee battle!

The roar of chainswords echoed through the vast ruins square, accompanied by the fall of metallic skeletons, and countless Necron Warriors poured in, seemingly endless!

Even if a Space Marine's stamina was strong, he couldn't withstand an unending stream of enemies!

Soon, the Chaos Raptors suffered casualties. The fall of the first Space Marine was like a domino effect, and the entire formation instantly collapsed!

Before long, only Hal remained. The teeth of his chainsword were almost worn flat, and hundreds of Necron Warriors lay around him, their metallic corpses forming a low dune.

"Come on! You damned xenos!"

Hal, leaning on his chainsword, valiantly roared at the Necrons: "I am Hal, the Vanguard officer of Haarken World-Eater Harken, the most elite vanguard under the Chaos Warmaster!"

However, just as Hal roared, the Necron Warriors surrounding him seemed to genuinely fear him, retreating one by one.

What was happening?

As Hal stood bewildered, he saw the retreating Necron Warriors part like a tide, moving to either side, leaving a passage.

Boom!

All the Necron Warriors knelt in unison!

Immediately after, a colossal metallic figure, guarded by the surrounding Necron Warriors, prominently entered Hal's vision.

It had a humanoid upper body, with the lower half replaced by metallic arthropod limbs, draped in a tattered, ornate robe, holding an ancient and mysterious staff. In its hollow eye sockets, a ruthless fire seemed to burn, emitting a ghostly green shadow.

"I am Thorzakh… Necron Lord. You have invaded my slumbering tomb."

Thorzakh's gaze was icy as he stared at Hal on the pile of corpses: "Do not worry, as compensation, I will meticulously study… your physical structure and soul!"

At this moment, Hal suddenly understood.

Why these 'xenos' had suddenly abandoned suppressing fire and engaged them in close combat. It turned out… the other side intended to use them as research material!

But unfortunately, he understood too late!

Thorzakh waved his hand, and the Necron Warriors surged forward. Hal, already exhausted, was completely powerless to resist and was finally submerged… and disappeared amidst his unwilling roars.

The Necrons did not abandon the fallen bodies; they collected them all, for they were… important material for studying souls!

Then, Thorzakh came to the four blackstone constructs in the square, his hollow eye sockets lowered, staring at a certain spot: "I have released that human as per your request. Do you have any further commands?"

"Well done, Thorzakh."

At this moment, an inconspicuous metallic scarab on Thorzakh's shoulder, its eyes flashing with a ghostly green light, emitted a low, hoarse voice: "I will grant you what you desire… Before my arrival, ensure his safety at all costs!"

Thorzakh was silent for a few seconds, but considering the 'eccentricity' of this individual, it was not difficult to understand. He finally nodded: "As you command… Ruler of Solemnace, Keeper of Historical Artifacts, the Great Endless, Lord Trazyn."
