But the hospital records I finally tracked down through a source at the county clerk's office tell a different story. No baby named Ethan Beckett was born at Philadelphia General on March 15, 1995.
In fact, no baby named Ethan Beckett was born at any Philadelphia hospital that month.
My hands shake as I pull up another document. My mother's medical records from that time. She was in New York. Not Philadelphia.
New York.
At a private hospital. The kind rich people use.
The kind where records can be altered. Sealed. Made to disappear.
