Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19: FULL MOON GRACE

"Are you sure!?", Hewlett shouts back.

I turn to answer him-

Howling; coming from all directions, loud enough for everyone to hear pours into the stadium. A shiver of worry and excitement runs down my spine. Hewlett jerks his head back seeing me. I probably look terrifying. Seeing that kind of reaction on someone's face is what Master Dell kept me in my room on days like this for.

"Oh, no need to answer", Hewlett quickly says. My mind is flooded with a rush of distinct scents, making me feel light-headed. I stagger, searching through them in a trance. Anything! I need anything even remotely close to Benson's scent.

I hear something, something faint but uniquely annoying. They're...they're calling out my name-"Yori!".

"Huh?!" I answer, confused. It's Hewlett-

"You were slowly turning! You were slowly turning...so I had to pull you back". That's why I could hear them that clearly.

I lower my voice, "Why shouldn't I transform? I thought that's the plan. I transform and we beat Benson, The psycho lycan". A huge boulder of malice falls on my shoulders, it's the members of The Faith, most standing around Hewlett and me with weapons in their hands. Needles prickle my skin as my body notices just how many of them are looking at me with the same face as the villagers back home, just waiting for me to try anything. They don't even know my name, how could anyone hate a stranger this much.

In a tone, lower than his usual voice, "That was why I did not let you transform," he stands beside me as close to a hundred werewolves run into the stadium. "Everyone here has lost something to a werewolf or lycan, they have all the hate to kill and not judge first".

I try to shrink myself staring at the ground, as The Faith members fight off the incoming werewolves, thinking. The disgusting scent of silver is filled in the air, I don't smell any blood though. I look up at Hewlett still standing beside me. "Were you waiting for too long?".

Hewlett smirks, "Look," he points to the men in robes, all members of The Faith, fighting the werewolves. None of them have been killed, they're all being trapped in nets, made out of silver! "Once a werewolf turns there is almost no hope when they have killed but...-A werewolf bypasses most of the fighting men and reaches us. A grey robe rustles through the air, it's the bald man from the stadium entrance!

He lands on the ground slamming the werewolf's head alongside him in an echoing boom. In a low voice and large grin, "We make sure to detain all of them, hoping that they could be saved". He holds the werewolf by the nape, "Stay vigilant! Hewlett! And Yori. The black lycan you've been looking for is here". Even with me focusing, I can't sense Benson at all! Who is this man? He reminds me the most of Master.

Hewlett doesn't look like he senses Benson too. "We should head out to the outside of the stadium", Hewlett says as he starts to run towards the entrance.

They're must be a connection between a member of The Faith's robe color and their rank, Hewlett has a white one, the bald man has a grey one and Master...he has a black one. I'll ask Hewlett when I get the chance.

"Brother Musunga said the lycan would be around here", Hewlett stops me, "We should not go beyond the boundary of the stadium", He's more tense than usual, "I can not guarantee your safety from this point going forward. You could still stay back. Brother Musunga is busy ensuring no one gets killed so we can not count on him coming to my aid should things go south". My heart pounds hard against my chest.

"I agreed to do this! what happens to everyone if he lives is directly my fault!" I won't let you fight him alone. Even if you say you're an even match for him, even if you say I would lose on a one on one-

"Now, now." That scent! From the shadows prowls out Benson, his coat the same haunting black shade, laced with scars too many to count, "I have just enough fists to go around, there's no need to bicker over who gets to die first," He playfully answers, his red eyes still fixated on Hewlett and me. He unleashes a wave of killing intent and in a hysterical grin says, "You could even die together".

"Yori!", My knees greet the ground in a thud as my legs crack into shape and my spine breaks out of my back. I claw at my robe, howling as my feet dig into the ground. And as my howl comes to an end, I become one with my lycan self.

"I'm here", I answer in a sharp growl. I'm getting used to the pain of turning.

Benson's smile widens. In a sudden bolt, he runs up to Hewlett with a side hammer fist.

Hewlett ducks down. The fist whooshes by. He does feel stronger.

Hewlett then forces a gust out of his feet and into Benson's gut but not before he blocks with his left arm.

He gets pushed back and flips to gain traction.

I follow him on all fours within an arms reach, my left fist aimed at his face-

Benson tilts, my fist doesn't land.

He launches a right hook to my ribs, I hop back, barely managing to dodge it-

Hewlett lands between us with a gale slash heading for Benson. It would've been trouble for me if he didn't.

Benson raises his arms in a cross to guard.

"Thanks", I say to Hewlett and follow behind the gale.

It hits.

I jump from his left with a kick. He's too overwhelmed to block.

It pushes him to his side.

He stops with one arm on the ground and lunges at me dodging Hewlett's attack .

Hewlett immediately pushes me towards himself with a strong wind.

I end up on his left side as Benson slams his fist into the ground where I was.

Hewlett claps his hands facing him and shoots out a gust.

Benson awkwardly dodges. But this time with a large rock in his hand and hurls it at Hewlett.

The rock quickly curves as it reaches us.

I run past Hewlett into the rocks trajectory and notice Benson running towards us too.

How isn't his arm still busted?! I grab the rock and spin along with it and release it back at Benson.

The rock hits his head hard spiraling him towards us.

He twists his body and uses his feet to sweep up sand.

Hewlett coughs out and jumps back with a gust boost from both his hands-

Benson grabs him by his ankle.

I lunge at him but he slams Hewlett on the ground and then flings him at me.

Hewlett slams into me and we fall to the ground. Hewlett groans trying to push us both away.

He manages to push just me away as Benson slams down on him from the air.

"Hewleeeett!", a dust cloud follows the impact.

I leap after them. My eyes closed, leaning on my senses to guide me.

Out of the dust cloud, Hewlett punches with his right at Benson's face, his fist covered in a circulating gust.

His fist lands. He hits Benson's ribs.

Benson barks out a splatter of blood.

Reaching them, I aim a fist for his left jaw.

He blocks.

I aim an uppercut for his gut.

It lands.

He follows with a headbutt.

It claps on my forehead curling my eyes into my head as I tilt back.

"Leave him!", Hewlett screams out.

I push my body back to face him but feel the left side of my face burning before being thrown back by Benson's slap.

Benson howls in pain as I tumble back and stop on all fours, trying to stand straight as the ringing in my ear fades.

"You're worth that white robe you have on after all", Benson praises exhaustedly.

Hewlett!

My eyes dot around looking for him. Something smells awful. Its making my head spin.

Benson slowly walks forward, out of breathe. The awful smell is on him.

I look to where his headed. Hewlett! He's laying on the ground. But why is the dizzying smell coming from him too?

I force myself up, and on all fours, pace to Hewlett.

"Stay there!", Hewlett weakly shouts trying to stand but ends up stretching his hand out to warn me. I cover my nose as the scent gets stronger the closer I get. "I have weapons..." He grits his teeth then continues, "Weapons laced with gold".

I'm barely conscious just being beside him. He's probably put the weapon under him to reduce its effects. He knew I wouldn't listen.

"The only reason a black lycan as weak as you is still conscious is because of the full moon's grace", Benson says, a few arms behind me. He should've caught up by now. He's still being weakened by something.
