He prepared himself to travel to China and visit the mysterious man who had heard the voice of God and gained superpowers. So he prepared himself for travelling, setup his travelling bag, bought some tickets and boarded a plane to China.
He arrived at the airport of China 2:00 PM the next day, and boarded a cab to search for the mysterious man at the city he was able to locate.
When he looked around the search tabs he didn't see a lot of useful information like what the Chinese man could do and his home address. Nevertheless, the unknown figure was still able to get information like his name, his humble background and also his resident identity card number.
With this information, the unknown figure was able to narrow down the place he stayed in the whole of China to a city and a couple of city blocks. Fortunately, the city of Xinjiang was not as bustling as other cities and also there wasn't a lot of government officials patrolling the area so he was able to cruise around in the cab trying to find the Chinese man.
He checked multiple dojos in the city, small private owned businesses that were barely holding up, buildings near the street, secluded areas and anywhere that looked suspicious in the whole of Xinjiang but he couldn't find anything there. He then paid the cab driver off before proceeding to enter an inn to pay for a room to settle down in.
He walked briskly before seeing it, in the middle of two tall buildings a large Tulou(large earthen building) was basking faraway in the horizon, without a cab for transport, the unknown figure trekked and ran hastily into the path made by two storey buildings.
After running and stopping to rest at regular intervals towards the place he spotted, the unknown figure had arrived at where he was going, he saw a figure written on a signboard, and proceeded to search what it meant on his phone.
The symbol was 莲花(Liánhuā) and it meant Lotus Flower, confused about why a sign board stating that, was at the front of the earthen building, he decided to walk into the courtyard and find out what was so mysterious about it.
He arrived at the earthen building, and proceeded to walk into the place to inspect, but before he could get in, a Chinese woman approached him and asked in mandarin.
"Who are you?"
The unknown figure, had military training and was able to converse in mandarin also, albeit for little matters like greeting, eating or buying food, asking for information and simple human transmissions.
So basically, his mandarin was manageable. He announced in mandarin:
"I am called James Jones."
"How should I address you?"
The Chinese woman wearing a wide-sleeved, rose-colored top paired with wrap-around skirts, embroidered fabric flat shoes made of cotton they were coloured black and had a design of a white flower woven at the center and a black hair that was gathered into a simple low bun using jade hairpins to secure it. She looked at the unknown figure carefully and replied in mandarin.
"I am called Han Huizhen."
"What do you want?"
To which the unknown figure replied:
"I'm here to see Fan Lin."
The Chinese woman's eyes wavered slightly but her expression did not change as she said:
"Fan Dashi isn't available at the moment."
Perturbed by her statement, the unknown figure asked, when he would be back.
"A few months or more I am not sure."
"What do you want to see him for? Maybe I can help you with that."
The unknown figure muttered in English about whether he should tell her about the strange things he witnessed and the accident he had, he thought about the last person he told and ultimately concluded that telling this Chinese woman wouldn't cause any problem before replying:
"A few days ago, I had an accident, I steered off the course of the road when a portal opened, the accident wasn't so serious as I was not terribly injured so I returned to the portal and saw the portal lying there, I poked my head inside it, before proceeding to run away."
The woman said:
"What did you see when you poked your head inside the portal."
"I saw goblins. I know it is stupid but I have to tell you honestly, all of these is real."
"I know it is. Come with me."
The unknown figure look of surprised at the thought of someone believeing him, his mood soon changed to him cheering happily that someone believed him and then another feeling soon followed he felt forlorn because if what he said was true, that means everything he read in fairytales, comics, movies, and mahwa was also real.
A shiver went through his spine as he followed the old woman called Han Huizhen to the courtyard of the earthen building, there they saw a house that was weirdly built in the middle of the courtyard, and proceeded into a manhole in the house, they climbed the steps on the side of the hole gradually, until they came into what looked like a storage facility for books.
The woman opened one of the shelves in the storage facility like a door, before proceeding into an empty space, there was only a small safe lying there.
She opened the small safe and said to the unknown figure:
"Fan Dashi said, if the one who comes from the other side comes to find me hand this over to him."
The unknown figure nodded to what he heard from the woman, expecting to collect a large bundle of cash, but after seeing the size of the safe, he soon gave up hope that there was any amount of cash that would be sufficient for him in there, he also thought about seeing a bag of expensive precious stones there, but he wondered that if the grandmaster left precious stones for him that belonged to another realm, would there be anyone on earth who he could fence the stones to, a bag of mysterious stones was just a bag of mysterious stones.
The unknown figure thought critically about what the Chinese woman was going to bring out and soon concluded that the only thing coming from that safe was a check, a check holding a large sum of money, and a lease to a beautiful mansion.
The woman brought out a blue file holder and the unknown figure was looking hopeful, when the woman opened the file, the unknown figure only felt disappointed at what he saw there.
