Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Sarah’s POV

Mrs. Smith, I think you have lost your memory. And also, we need to check how your body is able to function perfectly well without your organs.

"What are you talking about, Mr. Doctor? I'm perfectly fine, as the queen. The king always assigns the best physicians in the kingdom to take care of me. I have never fallen sick. So what are you talking about?" I asked, angry that this common man dared to question the health status of the queen.

"Ah—yes, Your Highness. We are just making sure," he replied.

"Don't worry about my health; I'm perfectly fine. Take me back to the palace now, or else I will have the king chop off your heads," I said, pointing at them.

Just then, the scheming woman I saw in the flashback appeared and ran to my side.

"Sister, you are finally awake. I'm sorry it's my fault. I shouldn't have had Mr. Smith buy me the custom-made dress. I'm sorry, sister. Don't punish Mr. Smith anymore," she said, with fake tears streaming down her face.

"Get your dirty hands off me," I said as I pulled my hand forcefully out of hers. "I'm not your sister. And I don't care about you or your Mr. Smith. You can have him," I said.

"How dare you push Lily? Apologize to her now!" The man who I have come to know as Smith said in a commanding and condescending tone.

"You want me to apologize to her? Is she worth it? And can she handle my apology?"

"Sarah! Apologize to Lily now! Or else—"

"Or else what?" I cut in before he could finish what he was saying.

"I will divorce you immediately," he said with a smug expression on his face.

"Divorce me? My husband is the king. How dare you, a common man, say you will divorce me? Who do you think you are?" I fumed.

The smug expression on his face vanished instantly. Lily was holding his hand like her life depended on it. An idea suddenly came to my head. Since he wants me to apologize, then he will get it.

"Alright, I will apologize," I said in a low voice. I climbed out of the bed to where Lily was standing. She was still holding onto Mr. Smith tightly, and she had a victorious smile on her face. When I got closer to her, she started her pitiful act again.

"Sister, I know you love Mr. Smith, but don't bully me anymore," she said. The fakeness was coming out.

Bully you? Now I will show you the real definition of being bullied, I said to myself. I made sure I was close to her, then I landed a very hard blow that sent her flying across the room. This is revenge for the woman in my vision, I said, wiping my hand.

The whole room fell silent immediately. The doctor was surprised at what he had just witnessed, and the nurse gave me a thumbs up. Mr. Smith ran to Lily's side.

"Lily, are you okay? What have you done to her, you evil woman?" He yelled.

"You asked me to apologize, and I just did."

"I asked you to apologize to her, not to knock her out!"

Lily coughed in his arms. "Mr. Smith, why is everywhere spinning?" she asked. Blood was gushing out of her nose and mouth.

"Lily, you will be fine. Please just hold still. Nothing will happen to you. I will make sure you are okay," Mr. Smith pleaded desperately as he carried Lily out of the room.

I was about to go back to the bed when I caught sight of a woman in the mirror on the wall. I went closer to the mirror, and the woman also came closer. What is this? I lifted one hand, and she also lifted one hand. I stuck out my tongue, and she did the same. The only difference was the face.

"Mr. Doctor!" I yelled. He ran over to where I was standing, watching the reflection in the mirror. "Who is this woman? And where is she copying everything I'm doing?"

"Mrs. Smith, that is your reflection in the mirror," he said.

"No, that's not how I look. I don't look this way. This face and body are too ugly and broken to look like mine. Her face is bruised, her skin is pale as that of a ghost. This is the face of the woman I saw in my vision. How did I become her?"

"No!" I yelled with a very loud voice. The doctor and nurse quickly covered their ears with their hands.

This cannot be happening to me. How did I end up in another woman's body? What happened to my own body? His Majesty must be looking for me. I need to go, I said, running out of the room as the doctor and nurse followed me.

"Mrs. Smith, please come back. You are not fully healed," the nurse said as they continued chasing me.

"No, no, I need to get back to the palace immediately," I said as I continued running. But the passage seemed to have no end. I have been running for close to an hour now, but still I haven't found a way out of this strange building.

"Mrs. Smith, please stop. We have been running around the hospital for an hour now," the doctor pleaded.

But I have no intentions of stopping until I am out of this place and back to the palace.

"No, I won't stop," I yelled back at him. "I need to go back to the palace."

"There's no palace, Mrs. Smith. This is the city, and there's no palace here," the nurse yelled.

And that made me stop in my tracks. Did she just say there's no palace? Does it mean I'm stuck in this unknown place?

Just then, Mr. Smith came out with Lily to see what the commotion was all about. When Lily saw me, she hurriedly hid behind his back.

"You!" I charged at him. "You brought me to this unknown place. How dare you bring me here? You take me back to my palace!" I said as I grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up with one hand. "I will kill you," I screamed.

"Mrs. Smith, please put him down. You will kill him," the doctor said.

"Oh no, she has gone mad," Lily added. "Put him down, Sarah, otherwise I won't spare you," she yelled.

Just then, I suddenly started feeling dizzy again. My head was spinning. I didn't know when I dropped Mr. Smith on the ground as I held my head. Another memory flashed through my head. But this time, it was Lily and an older woman. A young woman was locked inside a cage. Lily and the older woman were making fun of her.

"You are worthless, just like your mother," the older woman said. "And I will make sure you end up exactly like her."

"Mom, let's marry her off to an old man," Lily said. "Mr. Thomas is ready to pay one million dollars just to have her as his mistress," she added. She held up the face of the girl inside the cage. "At least you will be useful to us."

 The two women started laughing.

"Your mother stole my place in the Clinton family, and now she has paid for it," the older woman said with an evil smile on her face.

"Please, step-mother, please don't sell me to Mr. Thomas. I promise I will leave the Clinton family and never look back," she said while crying and pleading with them to let her go.

I walked closer to the cage, and to my surprise, it was the same woman I had seen in memories before, the same one whose face and body I have now.

But why can't I recall my own memories? Why can't I recall how I ended up here? And why were they tormenting the innocent woman?

I looked at Lily, who was sitting on the floor with Mr. Smith, glaring at me while playing the sweet sister-in-law to him.

"Have you gone insane? How dare you attack Brother Smith?" Lily yelled at me, her face now red with anger.

"I don't know you, Sarah, but now that my soul possesses your body, I will make everybody that offended you pay for it dearly. I will make their lives miserable. I promise you this, Sarah," I said to myself.
