Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Mr Smith’s POV

Mr. Smith, your wife is dead. The time for the heart transplant has passed, and we couldn't get a spare heart since you already gave the only available heart to her sister. There was no spare heart for her. Please come to the hospital to claim her corpse," Doctor Zane said on the phone.

"How much did Sarah pay you to lie for her? Do you know that I can make you lose your license with just a phone call?"

"Mr. Smith, I'm really not lying to you. Your wife is dead. Come to the hospital to claim her corpse, or we will send her corpse to the lab to be used for practical purposes by interns in our hospital." With that, he ended the call.

Sarah, what are you up to now? You pretended to be dead just to avoid signing the divorce papers? You even paid Doctor Zane to lie for you? Fine, since you want to play this game with me, I will go to that hospital and bring you here to apologize to Lilly for spilling hot tea on her wrists.

"Brother Smith, is Sarah still mad at me?" Lilly asked. "I can go to the hospital and apologize to her." She said, trying to stand up from the bed, tears streaming down her beautiful face. She staggered and almost fell to the ground, but I caught her immediately.

"No, Lilly. I'm sure this is one of your sister's tricks. She paid that damn doctor to lie to me that she's dead."

"I know my sister doesn't like me, but why would she pay the doctors to lie to you?" Lilly said, crying.

Lilly is a kind and sweet girl. She saved my life when we were kids, and I had promised to marry her. But my parents, especially my mom, insisted I marry Sarah because of the friendship she shared with Sarah's dead mother. And since then, Sarah has been bullying her stepsister. Today, she poured hot water on Lilly's wrist just because she was jealous of the custom-made dress I bought for Lilly.

"Don't worry, Lilly. Go back to bed. I will personally go to the hospital and bring Sarah here to apologize to you on her knees," I said, kissing her on the forehead. Only then did she calm down and go back to bed.

"Take care of Lilly and give her whatever she wants," I instructed the maids before rushing out of the house.

When I got to the hospital, Sarah was lying on the hospital bed. Her body was white as that of a ghost, and for a second, I really thought she was dead. But I remembered the burnt wound on Lilly's wrist, and my anger returned immediately.

"Get out of that bed now and come back home with me to apologize to Lilly," I said, but she did not move. "I will count to three, and if you are not up by then, I will drag you out of that bed," I said. But still, she remained quiet.

 "1... 2...

"Mr. Smith, what are you doing? Mrs. Smith is already dead," the doctor said.

"How much did she pay you for this?" I asked the doctor, grabbing him by his coat. "Tell me how much did she pay you!" I yelled.

"Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith has been dead for 4 hours now. Her condition worsened, and we were supposed to carry out the heart transplant last month, but you gave the heart to her sister."

"But I told you to get another donor, and I will pay you extra."

"Mr. Smith, getting a new heart is very difficult. We had to wait for six months to get the heart for Mrs. Smith, but you gave it to her sister."

"Lilly needed a new heart too," I said weakly.

"Yes, but her condition is not as bad as that of Mrs. Smith. With treatment, Miss Lilly would have recovered. While Mrs. Smith's heart has already—"

"I'm sorry, Sarah," I said. But it was necessary to save Lilly. She's the one I love, not you. I only married you because my parents insisted, but I never loved you. I confessed to Sarah, touching her already cold body.

"Take her to the crematorium. Cremate her body and pour her ashes into the river," I instructed, turning to leave the hospital. Lilly is alone at home; I need to be with her.

"Oh, one more thing. The ring on Sarah's finger—I want that ring back. It's our family heirloom, and my mom had given it to Sarah on our wedding day. And now I need my ring back. It belongs to Lilly now," I said, pulling the ring from Sarah's hand, but the ring wasn't coming off.

"Why is the ring not coming out?" I asked the doctor impatiently.

"Mr., it's not right for you to remove the ring from her finger; she is already dead."

"I don't mind, even if it means cutting off her finger, then do it," I said coldly to the doctor.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith, but we can't do that to Mrs. Smith."

"This hospital belongs to the Smith Group, and if you don't do exactly what I said, I will sack you from this hospital and blacklist you in the whole of—" you will never be able to practice anymore. I threatened him.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Smith. I will do as you said immediately. Please don't blacklist me," the doctor pleaded with me on his knees.

"Bring me the ring now," I commanded him. As I sat down on the chair, waiting for him to get me the ring.

I watched as the nurse handed him— he held up Sarah's left finger and was about to cut it off when a gust of wind pushed him to the wall.

"Ah, I'm so tired," Sarah said, stretching herself as she suddenly sat up on the bed.

"Why is everywhere so noisy?" Call the guard to take these people out; I still want to sleep," Sarah said, yawning, her eyes barely opened.

The nurse rushed in and attended to the doctor, who was still passed out on the floor. She saw Sarah sitting on the bed, half asleep, and screamed.

"H-H-How is this possible? S-She is dead. We removed her old heart and her kidneys too," she screamed, shaking with fear.

"You removed her organs?" I asked, surprised at what she just said.

"Yes! She asked to donate her remaining good organs."

"Hey you, it's time for my morning bath. And also tell the kitchen staff to prepare my breakfast," Sarah said, pointing at the nurse with a stern look on her face.

The nurse immediately fainted, and yellow liquid with a foul smell started leaking under her. "Wait—she peed on herself?" I walked to the bed, not believing the show Sarah and the doctor were putting on. First, the doctor said she was dead, and now the nurse said her organs were donated. But the Sarah sitting on that bed, half asleep, is perfectly healthy and doesn't look like someone who is dying anytime soon.

"Finally you are awake. Come with me to apologize to Lilly and sign the divorce papers right now," I said, trying to pull her out of the bed with force.

Sarah looked at me with an angry and scary look on her face and asked coldly.

"Who are you? Where am I? And how dare you, a commoner, touch the queen?"

That was the last thing I heard before my body hit the wall close to where the nurse had already passed out. That was the last thing I remembered before everything suddenly became dark.
