Cyndi's head snapped up sharply, her eyes locking onto Sonia's, her face draining of color. "What? To help you identify…?"
Sonia tilted her head slightly, feigning mild surprise, her lips curving into a polite, almost harmless smile. "Just to identify the lady whom her husband was going out with."
"Is that even necessary?" Cyndi pressed, her voice tightening despite her effort to remain composed.
Sonia gave a small shrug, as though the matter were simple and obvious. "Of course. Think of it this way…for six months, I couldn't reach my sister, and her husband was certainly out of reach as well. That alone suggests something is terribly wrong with her."
Cyndi inhaled slowly, forcing herself to steady her nerves. She could not afford to lose control, not here, not now. Besides… if there was any woman involved, it had been her all along.
