Hearing his words, Sonia braced herself and prepared to listen. Her back remained straight against the hospital bed, and her unwavering gaze stayed locked on him.
Adams pointed toward Joel with a slight tilt of his chin. "He is Joel."
Joel offered her a small nod, his expression calm and approachable. Then Adams gestured toward the man standing beside him. "He is Fred."
A faint smile appeared on his face. "I assume you've already figured out his identity."
Sonia nodded. But despite herself, she couldn't stop glaring at Fred. The doctor had ruined everything.
If he had kept quiet, she might still be lying comfortably in bed pretending to be unconscious while she carefully laid out her plans for escape.
Instead, he had exposed her. Now every opportunity she had counted on had disappeared before she could even act on it.
