Back in the office, Acacia paced Seron's office like a caged animal, her face still stinging from Ruby's slaps. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw the smug look on Ruby's face and the way Max had looked at her with such adoration.
"I'll kill her," Acacia hissed, kicking a chair. "I'll make her pay for this humiliation!"
The door clicked shut. Seron stood there, his jaw tight and his eyes dark with a jagged, unsettled energy. He didn't say a word as he locked the door behind him.
"Seron! She actually fired me! Can you believe the nerve of that bitch?" Acacia yelled, turning to him. "I need you to make me forget. This time, I'm the one who needs this. I can't think straight. Are you going to reject me again?"
