Allen
"Allen...?" Ezra's voice almost broke me. I ruffled his hair softly.
"I'm right here, Ez," I whispered, holding him steady so he knew I was real. "I've got you."
Looking down at him, my throat tightened.
Ezra was covered in dirt and blood. I promised him that no one else was ever going to hurt him, but I needed him to break out of his shell. Seeing the way he fought back there made me so proud, and now, I'm going to make sure that I keep my promise.
"I'll take care of you, baby."
I shifted my grip and lifted him carefully into my arms. He winced as the movement pulled at the wide tear across his stomach. His robe was soaked through with blood.
Using magic, I created a protective shell, and carefully placed him in it.
The moment he was settled, the spell started working, closing up the open wound. I used my powers to clean up the blood, and change his fabric.
"I thought you were dead," he whispered, tearing up. "I really thought you were gone."
