Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: First Problem in the Village

Well, after we arrived at the town and my master rented a room to store our belongings, we went outside. The old man had told us that Lilia and I had to go eat something since ever since we woke up and left the forest, we did all of this without having breakfast.

At the tavern there was a place to eat but since they were looking at us weird, the old man suggested that we should eat somewhere else. So we went to another place to eat, there was a small market there, and when we arrived we bought some fruits. As I told father that I wanted to go on an adventure, he didn't give me enough money, so I had to spend very carefully.

— Hmm, hey Aito, let me buy the fruits, you have to save part of your coins.

— What are you saying, but I should buy them with my own money. Another day you can buy with yours, but today I'll treat you, okay?

And I patted her head.

— Alright.

— Hey Lilia, we are the same age but I'm a bit taller than you.

— That's true, maybe it's because you train a lot.

— That must be it.

— Don't you miss the Palace and your family a lot, Aito?

— Well yeah, I miss them and I feel a bit sad, but I have you and master here, so it's fine.

— Don't worry so much if grandpa is harsh with you, deep down he cares about you a lot.

— I don't worry about that.

— But now let's talk about you, you're amazing Lilia, extremely amazing.

— Well, thank you.

— When you turned the ground into a swamp and the beast couldn't get out of there, it was incredible. You're awesome, like the stories I read about mages who controlled different elements.

— Yeah, but we defeated it together, Aito. You and I defeated it.

— That's true, but you did a lot. I think you'll become a great mage, Lilia.

— In that case, I won't disappoint you and I'll work really hard — said Lilia with great confidence while looking at Aito.

Alright, well let's go back to master.

After buying the fruits and other things and talking with Lilia, we returned to the old man. After eating them, the old man told me that we had to keep training like when we were at the Palace. So we headed to a secluded area that was more like a forest, but not like the one we were in last night.

We trained for a long time and master was already attacking me with a bit more intensity, stronger, more focused, and I felt better that way since it was like a real fight, like if I didn't defend myself I would die.

— Hey brat, I think you already need a real sword.

— Whaaaat, seriously master? Awesome, I'll finally have a sword!

After hearing the old man say this, I felt even happier.

Because with a real sword I could kill beasts better, and I would feel more comfortable knowing that I now had a blade. Even though with the wooden sword I already cut things, with a real one it would be more impressive.

We had gone hunting, because a good while had already passed and the sun was already setting, so we had to cook the meat quickly to return to the tavern.

When we got back the tavern was full of people, even more than when we arrived in the morning. And I saw there were werewolves there. I had heard stories about them in the books I read, although when I left the Palace for the first time I didn't see any, though I didn't spend much time outside so maybe that was why. And something unexpected happened.

— Hey old man, where are you from? I think I've never seen you around here. Are you a traveler?

One of the men who was drinking there approached the old man, I don't know why, but that guy was no match for the old man.

— And what's wrong with that old man, is he deaf or what?

— Eh… look at that little one.

When master heard that, at that very instant he raised his hand and struck the man, sending him several steps back and breaking the tables and things that were behind, along with the food and drinks that were on top.

And that's how we had our first problem in this town.
