Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Obsidian, the Most Precious Reward

"Senior, what should I call you?"

With a beaming smile, Kira Oakmoor spoke with absolute fawning.

Every NPC had their own story; they were like humans, and if one cultivated a good relationship with them...

...it wouldn't be impossible to profit from it!

Appearing at this time meant this NPC likely had connections with the upper echelons of the Block Civilization.

Or, they might even be their future manager!

If they established a good relationship now, wouldn't the benefits be endless in the future?

Glancing at Kira Oakmoor, the Piglin's attitude remained indifferent.

"Don't ask what you shouldn't ask. State the reward you want!"

Kira Oakmoor maintained his smile, not daring to ask further.

It would be bad if he left a negative impression by talking too much.

"As for the reward..."

He was somewhat conflicted about which resource block to obtain.

The blacksmith shop lacked food, but pickaxes and weapons were equally important.

If he chose food, he would have to focus on weapons and equipment later, and vice versa; the choice at this moment was particularly crucial.

While hesitating, Ronan Mountwell's voice sounded in his ear.

"Oakmoor, can you hear me?"

Originally, the two were separated by a great distance and could not communicate directly, but they were now in the reward settlement phase.

Sharing the third-place treatment granted them temporary communication privileges.

"Is that you, Mountwell? What resources are you lacking over there?"

"Listen to me, choose Obsidian for this resource selection. I have already seen through its secret!"

The image of that dark, hard stone appeared in his mind, and Kira Oakmoor reacted after a brief moment of confusion.

He knew Ronan Mountwell could sometimes see the functions of items, and now he had actually seen Obsidian!

This stone was precious and hard beyond common sense; its value was bound to be immense.

Others didn't understand it yet. It was highly likely that their Samurai Nation would soar to the heavens using this opportunity!

"I choose Obsidian!"

"Fine, but this block is very precious. I can only give you five."

The Piglin's words further validated Kira Oakmoor's thoughts.

Since even this person spoke this way, there must be a secret hidden within Obsidian!

Once the rewards were given, the benefits of having two players selected became apparent.

Originally they could only get five pieces of Obsidian, but now they received ten pieces directly—doubled resources!

Considering Ronan Mountwell discovered it and it was useless for him to keep it himself, Kira Oakmoor simply let the Piglin send his portion over as well.

They belonged to the same country; if one grew stronger, the other would also benefit. There was no difference.

Looking at the ten pieces of Obsidian in his hand, Ronan Mountwell was filled with joy.

'The key to the mysterious gate—this wave is in the bag!'

A Piglin also arrived on the Freedom Nation's side.

Because of their second-place ranking, its attitude toward the two was slightly better than toward Kira Oakmoor, but only by a little; it remained lukewarm.

The rewards they received were quite a bit better than the Samurai Nation's.

They could stay in the resource area for two and a half hours every day, harvest blocks fifteen times, and receive two types of arbitrary resource blocks.

Under the guidance of the signboard, they knew Galen Yu had used a shield to block the Creeper's explosion, so they directly chose shields.

For the other resource, considering there were no crafting tables on the island, they each took ten crafting tables.

"Great! With crafting tables, our final weakness is filled!"

Mark was very happy to receive the crafting tables.

No matter how powerful a weapon or tool was, it had to be made from a crafting table. Based on the resources on the island, with this item...

They would lack nothing!

If they truly encountered something they didn't have, couldn't they just go to the resource area and get it?

Sky Island.

Galen Yu finally reached the reward calculation for first place.

Perhaps because he killed a Charged Creeper, the descending Piglin's attitude was surprisingly friendly.

Arriving at the edge of the Sky Island, it set up a simple arrangement.

A few pieces of Bedrock were placed, with a lever on top.

"Please follow me!"

Pulling the lever, Galen Yu felt his vision blur before being teleported to another location.

This place was above the void, a massive floating island with various resources comparable to the Overworld.

Small text appeared before Galen Yu's eyes.

[SKY CITY, SUBURBS]

"You may call me Zane Wu, according to the regulations of the Block Civilization."

"The first-place newcomer of the chunk can obtain twenty types of resource blocks every day. Since you killed a Charged Creeper..."

"...you can choose any location in this area to become part of your own chunk!"

"The chosen location will not disappear, and you can teleport here anytime via the lever!"

Galen Yu immediately perked up.

In Sky Island survival, the most scarce thing was resources, but now he could teleport here at any time.

Would he still lack resources?

The audience was even more shocked.

"Did I hear that right? Others were rewarded with resources, but Galen Yu was directly rewarded with a piece of land?"

"The NPCs were indifferent to everyone else, but his NPC's attitude is incredibly good, answering every question!"

"Listen to the details: the Freedom Nation can only stay here for two hours, but Galen Yu can stay as long as he wants?"

"Yeah, after all, it's becoming part of his own chunk. Does one need restrictions to visit their own home?"

"Is this what first place gets? The gap is just too large!"

They originally thought the Freedom Nation's rewards were already very good, but compared to Galen Yu...

It was simply the difference between heaven and earth!

The Piglin's attitude alone was incomparable!

Kira Oakmoor wanted to ask for a name and was ignored, and while the second-place Freedom Nation wasn't treated coldly, they certainly weren't treated warmly.

Now, facing Galen Yu...

The NPC proactively introduced his name and addressed him as "you" with high respect—it was simply enough to make anyone envious!

"Damn native residents! Why is their attitude toward our players so bad, while being so warm toward the Nine Provinces' player!"

In the Samurai Nation, Takeshi Sable was filled with indignation and resentment.

If the attitude were indifferent to everyone, it would be fine. The key was that they were so warm toward Galen Yu.

It was like rubbing the Samurai Nation's face into the ground in front of the global audience!

Yet there was nothing they could do. Takeshi Sable called over the experts and kicked them, only able to vent his anger on those useless fools.

"I can choose anywhere?"

Looking at the clearly divided chunks before him, Galen Yu asked tentatively.

"Yes, you may choose any location!"

"After you finish choosing, you will receive a special reward for killing the Charged Creeper!"

The chunk wasn't the reward for killing the Creeper; there was something else?

Something even more precious than giving away an entire chunk?

Galen Yu fell into thought while feeling expectant.

Indeed, he could stay in the chunk for an unlimited time, but according to Zane Wu, this only applied inside the chunk. Outside the chunk, his mining count was still limited.

This meant he had to choose carefully.

"Is this the resource area? The variety of blocks is so rich!"

"Is he going to pick one here? This is almost embarrassing, hahaha!"

"He doesn't lack food right now, so he definitely needs to take something related to weapons and equipment."

"I think that place over there looks good; it has gold ore and coal!"

"It's rarer than iron. The strongest equipment must be golden armor!"

"Choose Goldcrest! Won't that make advancing to a medium-sized chunk effortless?"

Even so, the Nine Provinces' audience was extremely excited.

From past experience, the mineral ranking was wood, stone, iron ore, and gold ore.

These were all things that could be made into weapons and armor, among which gold ore was the rarest.

Based on common sense and the quality found in other games, they naturally believed that gold equipment was of the best quality.

"I choose here—the Iron Ore Mountain!"

Unexpectedly, Galen Yu did not choose the gold ore area, but instead chose a place full of iron ore.

Outside the screen, the blond old man from the Freedom Nation's eyes lit up.

"He didn't choose the gold mine! Quick, let Mark and Jett come to the resource area. They must seize the initiative and mine all the gold within their limited attempts!"
