"Did you believe her?" Red asked as soon as we were sure that we were on our own. Nobody was eavesdropping and the paranormals in the neighborhood were all fully focused on the black market. We were still in that dark passage, trying to gather our thoughts and make sense of what had happened with Elisa.
Did I believe her? "I don't know," I said, more confused than I should have been. I was…numb. Which made no sense. That girl had just told me the location where my birth mother was. I was supposed to be happy, wasn't I?
"It doesn't matter if she believes her," Amara said.
She was right. Even if I was pretty sure that Elisa Dunham had lied through her teeth, I would still need to go to Indiana to check for myself.
Amara would have done the same thing had her mother still been alive. She understood, if Red didn't.
"It could be a trap," he said, something I'd considered myself. "She's Jane's sister, and Jane is working with Izzy."
It almost made perfect sense. "I still have to go."
