Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Breeder

"Is that… a Gengar?"

Looking at the prompt before him, Lucas understood what was going on.

"A prank?"

Lucas looked at the description in the status bar, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Then he continued to carry his luggage upstairs.

Gengar hung upside down from the chandelier, revealing itself, and watched Lucas's retreating back as he went upstairs, its mouth stretched wide, revealing its pristine white teeth.

Then it silently flew towards Lucas.

Feeling a rotten, musty smell fill his nostrils, and a damp, cold gust of wind lick his neck like a scarlet tongue, Lucas, with the help of the prompt, put down the luggage in his hand.

"Gah!!!~~~"

"Hmph!!!"

Gengar opened its mouth, pulled out its tongue, and was about to tap Lucas's shoulder when it saw Lucas suddenly turn his head, his expression as grotesque as a zombie, and let out a huge sound.

He watched Gengar, startled into deflating like a balloon, bumping around in the air due to the leak, and finally disappearing into the chandelier.

Lucas chuckled, slurped a bit, and said, "You sly one."

Then he turned around, picked up his luggage, and went upstairs.

Opening the door to the master bedroom, Lucas walked in and looked around. Compared to the luxurious furnishings downstairs, the bedroom was much simpler, with just a bed, a pink wardrobe, and a dressing table.

The bed still looked usable; he just needed to replace the mattress. Lucas went to the dressing table, where an overturned photo frame lay.

Lucas picked it up, wiped the dust from the glass frame, and only then could he clearly see a lady frozen in her most beautiful moment within the frame.

Dressed in splendid attire, with a dignified and graceful oriental face, she sat elegantly in a garden, holding a Glameow in her arms, smiling at Lucas.

Looking at this Great-Aunt, the only blood relative he had in this world, an inexplicable emotion welled up in Lucas's heart. His thoughts raced for a moment. After a while, he collected himself and carefully placed the photo frame back on the dressing table, allowing this beauty to continue facing the world.

He opened the wardrobe, took out all the unused items inside, threw them on the floor, then took an unused piece of clothing to the bathroom and soaked it with water.

Fortunately, some facilities in the house were still usable, such as the uninterrupted water and electricity.

He returned to clean out the wardrobe, put all his clothes inside, then went to the bed, lifted the broken mattress, inspected the bed frame, and wiped it with a wet cloth.

Finally, he cleaned the dressing table. Since the dressing table wasn't broken, Lucas decided to make do with it for now.

He then opened the door inside the bedroom, stepping out onto the balcony. There was a small table and two small stools, but they were also ruined by rain and sun exposure, and the flowerbed was overgrown with weeds.

Glancing down from the balcony and seeing no one below, Lucas threw the broken table and stools down, then carried out the mattress and threw it down as well.

After all this, he rested his hands on the balcony railing, quietly looking outside.

This area was on the outskirts of Twinleaf Town; he couldn't see any residents nearby, and it was bordered by a forest, making it exceptionally quiet.

Just then, Nina returned.

Seeing Nina return, Lucas went downstairs and saw her directing several Machamp to carry in mattresses, bedding, and other items.

Upon seeing this, Lucas waved to the Machamp, signaling them to carry the items upstairs.

After the mattress was placed, Nina helped Lucas put on the bedsheets and also tucked the quilt into its cover.

"Thank you."

Looking at the busy Nina, Lucas said thank you.

"No problem, I'm more skilled at this sort of thing than you."

After setting up the items, Nina straightened up, wiped her sweat, and said to Lucas with a smile.

Then she pulled out an agreement and handed it to Lucas.

"Take a look. If there are no issues, you can sign it."

Taking the agreement, Lucas quickly scanned it. The agreement was written in the League language, and there were no problems, so he picked up the pen and signed his name.

[Achievement unlocked: Heir. Received Great-Aunt's final gift: Ten consecutive draws.]

[Received Moomoo Milk × 12]

[Received Poké Ball × 10]

[Received Pokémon Tech Safety Helmet × 3. Safety Helmet: Can protect your head from heavy impacts, self-cleaning, greatly reducing manual labor waste.]

[Received Pokémon Tech Stethoscope × 1. Stethoscope: Perhaps it can let you feel the movement inside a Pokémon Egg?]

[Received Pokémon Tech Lab Coat × 1. Lab Coat: Can make you look like a doctor?]

...The rest were a few Oran Berries and Pecha Berries.

"This is what you call 'rich rewards'?"

Lucas muttered, speechless.

["Rich rewards"]

"..."

Too lazy to bother with this Cheat anymore, Lucas and Nina walked out of the room. A Machamp holding a wet mop was standing at the doorway.

"Thank you for your trouble, Machamp."

Lucas thanked the Machamp before him.

"Ni-cha~"

The Machamp grinned, then walked into the room and started mopping the floor.

Lucas went downstairs. The Machamp had already moved out the broken tables and cabinets, cleaned the floor, and then mopped it thoroughly.

"You're really capable, Machamp."

Lucas couldn't help but exclaim, looking at the efficient work.

"Right? They're also homeless Pokémon who usually earn rewards by taking on commissions from others, but they can't do detailed work," Nina said, coming up beside him.

"I thought you might need help here, so I brought them over."

Lucas nodded. He just happened to need to throw out a lot of things, and with Machamp's help, he could save a lot of effort.

Then Lucas walked into the kitchen. The cabinets looked undamaged. He opened them, and there were only a few utensils inside.

He called a Machamp to come in and move out some useless items to throw away.

He opened the small door inside the kitchen and walked out. What greeted his eyes was an extremely vast open space, covered in weeds and littered with strange rocks. Many wooden fences surrounded it, but due to long neglect and prolonged exposure to sun and rain, they had become dilapidated.

In the distance, he could see a shimmering expanse of blue, which appeared to be a small Lake, and nearby, he saw a broken sun umbrella, a table, and lounge chairs.

Lucas had seen it in photos; this was supposed to be the place for afternoon tea.

"So? Have you decided what you're going to do?"

Nina leaned against the small door behind him and asked.

"I guess... I'll reopen this Breeding House."

Lucas thought for a moment and said.

This was the place his Great-Aunt, whom he had never met, used to run a Breeding House. Since he had come here and inherited it, he would also open a Breeding House, considering it fulfilling the wish of his Great-Aunt whom he had never met.

"A Breeding House, huh? That's good. Twinleaf Town doesn't have a Breeding House yet, so if people in town want starter Pokémon, they'll have a place to buy them. Plus, this place is located between Twinleaf Town and Sandgem Town. Besides Professor Rowan's lab, as far as I know, Sandgem Town also doesn't have a Breeding House."

"Business shouldn't be bad, looking at it this way."

Nina said.

"There are quite a few places that need spending too."

Lucas sighed, looking at all the dilapidated things before him.

"That's true."

Nina chuckled lightly, then said, "Do you have enough money?"

"If I'm frugal, it should last."

Lucas said. His parents had left him about three to four million League currency, which he had never used.

"But a lot of things still need to be done by hand."

Lucas continued, but as he gazed at the empty space before him, he imagined being able to raise a bunch of his favorite Pokémon here later, then sitting on a lounge chair, drinking afternoon tea. His desire to be a Trainer suddenly faded, replaced by a vague sense of anticipation.

Who wouldn't want to live a life surrounded by Pokémon?

Trainer? Sorry, not familiar.
