[3rd POV]
After Alex had left, a few days had passed by swimmingly. Not a lot had really happened in her personal life during that time, beyond continuing to regularly practice with Haley. The girl had begun to grow faster and faster thanks to some of the critiques that Alex had given her, and Billie's training.
But it would still take a couple of months before she was ready to properly make the music.
Speaking of music, Billie had begun to prepare her own album, when she had gotten a rather interesting call.

[Flashback]
At the moment Billie was sitting in the custom built recording studio she had built into her apartment. Listening to different beats as she tried to mimic the perfect one for the album she had chosen.
"19"
It was an album that was...well, not really the best name wise, considering it was based around the age of Adele when it was made, but...she decided to stick with it. She imagined she could find an excuse or something for it.
If not, she can always make something up.
As she listened to the different beats and strings, she stopped when she felt her phone buzz.
Sighing, she put her headphones to the side and turned off the volume as she brought the phone to her ear, but only after she looked at the number, finding that it was unfamiliar to her.
"Hello? Who is this?" Billie asked, as she leaned back in her chair.
"Hi! Is this Billie Eilish?" A feminine voice echoed on the other side, Billie's eyebrow raising in response.
"...Yes it is? How did you get this number?"
"Mr Suarez had given us the number" The woman on the other end responded, causing Billie to grumble.
'God damnit Suarez!' Billie thought, remembering the man. He was a guy she had recruited for her label and had brought him in as her COO. He was one of the most trust worthy people she knew, and was very very good at his job.
He also loved to push her into things, nothing bad, things that are probably better for her in the end. But all of these things tend to be annoying to deal with.
It was thanks to this man that her appearance and background had not been leaked before she wanted it to.
This had been done through a variety of ways, including warping a few documents and doing some things that are very very close to being illegal. All so nobody would find out about her true appearance or who she actually was.
Just her name, and that wouldn't lead to her until she wanted it to.
"And why did Suarez give you my number? He only gives it to important people. Last person that called me was Beyoncé" Billie responded, remembering the call with the woman.
She was an icon, even if Billie wasn't the biggest fan. She still respected the things she has accomplished.
"Oh sorry, I am actually reaching out to you because we are interested in having you on the Ellen Degeneres Show. Would you be interested in an appearance?" The woman asked on the other end, as Billie blanked.
'Ellen Degeneres? That...sounds interesting, but the woman is...awful' Billie thought, remembering all the things that came to light about that place in her past life.
She was honestly more interested in appearing in SNL or the Tonight show, but the latter didn't even exist yet.
Well, at least the one with Jimmy Fallon. There was still Jay Leno, which could be interesting, but her knowledge on the man was lacking in comparison to Jimmy.
Ellen was not nearly as fun to be around as them in her eyes, as she thought that the Tonight Show would be something fun. Whereas Ellen...well, she just wasn't sure.
But after thinking about it some more, she decided to go through with it. Mostly because she had never been on a talk show before, and it would be fun to experience at least once.
She'll find a way to help bring the corruption to light without being directly implicated in that.
With that, Billie opened her mouth and responded.
"Of course!"

[Flashback]
So yeah, she had an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show slated for a month from the phone call. She would be the biggest guest star that Ellen has had on the show for quite some time, and she was already paid for the appearance.
It wasn't a lot or anything, but she didn't mind.
She already had enough money from her investments in her companies, and the fact that she owned so much real estate. Like the apartment complex that she owned, which was worth over a hundred million dollars at the moment.
The security had been embarrassing though. So she had recently patched that up, hiring new security and upgrading all forms of security throughout the building.
The man that had let Claire in after being given a hundred dollars had been promptly fired.
He couldn't even really defend himself because he did just deserve it.
She hadn't actually told Haley about her going on the Ellen Degeneres show just yet. The teen had been busy with some pretty...interesting things, which she was currently talking to Billie about, as they ate and watched a movie together.
"So wait, let me get this straight" Billie began. "Your mom is trying to run for the city council against some bald dude, because he...won't put a stop sign in? And she is making all of you help advertise for her?" Billie asked, as Haley nodded with a groan.
"Yeah! And it's not even the good advertising either! It's fliers and these really ugly tee shirts!" Haley exclaimed, knowing what good advertising looks like, and that sure as hell was not it.
"She's not trying to use your fame to help her is she?" Billie asked, wanting to make sure. If the woman was, she'd have to have a very long, stern conversation with Claire.
She didn't want to have to deal with her using her daughter's fame for her own gain, even if it was rather unknowingly done.
"No, she's actually been really good about that. I was honestly expecting for her to ask me to post on Facebook or something, but she hasn't brought it up at all. I guess she understands that I can't use my popularity to help her with something like this" Haley responded, shaking her head at the question.
Billie was pleased to hear this. As the conversation she would have had to have would have been...rather awkward.
"Good. I'm glad to hear your mom isn't causing any problems about it, just like the kids at school" Billie said, remembering that beyond some staring, nobody at her school had caused Haley any problem or anything like that.
That was honestly surprising to Billie, as she had fully been expecting someone to try something by this point.
"Yeah but I have a feeling that somebody at school is going to do something eventually. Honesty the fact that my school hasn't been leaked yet is a miracle"
"Not a miracle, baby. It's fear of a lawsuit that would ruin any paparazzi. I've been making sure none of them have tried stalking either of us, trust me on that" Billie said, knowing that if she hadn't threatened them with severe legal action, they would have stalked her girlfriend to try and get all sorts of photos.
Even the sorts that were inappropriate and probably illegal.
They usually got away with it. Because they are backed by huge media companies that literally live off of this sort of thing. Like the rats over at TMZ.
"Thanks babe" Haley said with a smile, as she pecked Billie on the lips, before beginning to return to the movie. All the while, Billie had one thought on her mind.
'A talk show huh...that oughta be interesting'
