The Legend of the Eternal Lotus
Centuries ago, when the world was still young and the balance of nature was delicate, the River Ganga was not just a river. She was a living goddess, full of power, purity, and compassion. She flowed from the heavens to the earth, carrying divine energy within her waters. Her purpose was to cleanse the world of its sins and bring peace to all living beings.
In those early days, humans respected her deeply. They worshipped her, prayed to her, and lived in harmony with nature. But as time passed, human desires began to change. Greed and ambition slowly took over their hearts. People no longer saw Ganga as a goddess to be respected, but as a source of power to be used.
Kings wanted to control her waters to strengthen their kingdoms. Warriors fought battles near her banks, believing her blessings would make them victorious. Sorcerers tried to use her divine energy for their own gain. As a result, wars were fought, kingdoms were destroyed, and countless lives were lost—all in the name of power.
Seeing this destruction, Ganga felt deep sorrow. She watched as her sacred waters were stained with blood and filled with pain. Unable to bear the suffering any longer, she wept. Her tears fell into the river, mixing with her divine essence.
From the place where her tears touched the water, something miraculous happened. A single lotus began to grow. But this was no ordinary flower. Its petals shimmered with a soft, glowing light, and its center held a mysterious energy that felt both ancient and powerful. It carried a part of Ganga's own soul within it.
The gods soon noticed this creation. They understood that the lotus held immense power—power that could heal the world, but also destroy it if used wrongly. Fearing what might happen if it fell into the wrong hands, they decided to protect it with a powerful enchantment.
They declared that the lotus would bloom only once every hundred years. Even then, it would not reveal its power easily. The Eternal Lotus would act as a mirror of the soul. It would respond to the heart of the person who found it. If the person was pure and selfless, the lotus would grant them the power to heal and restore balance. But if the person was filled with greed or darkness, the lotus would turn against them, consuming their desires and even their soul.
To make sure the lotus stayed safe, the gods chose a guardian. They entrusted its protection to a mortal priestess named Anika. She was known for her deep devotion to Ganga and her strong belief in balance and harmony. Anika accepted this responsibility with full dedication. She took a sacred oath to protect the lotus and keep it hidden from those who wished to misuse it.
Anika became the first Lotus Keeper. She passed down her knowledge and duty to her descendants, creating a long line of guardians who would protect the lotus through generations. Each Keeper was trained to be wise, patient, and strong, as their task was not easy.
Over the centuries, the story of the lotus slowly turned into a legend. Many people stopped believing in it, thinking it was just a myth. However, there were still some who believed it was real. These people, including kings, explorers, and seekers of power, searched for the lotus, hoping to claim its magic for themselves.
The Lotus Keepers faced many challenges. They dealt with betrayal, loss, and danger to protect the secret of the lotus. Some lost their lives while guarding it, but their duty never ended. Each generation continued the promise made by Anika.
As time passed, the connection between the lotus and the river grew stronger. The lotus became a part of Ganga herself, hidden deep within her waters. It remained closed, waiting silently for the next century to pass.
Now, the time of its next bloom approaches once again. The Lotus Keepers know what this means. Every time the lotus blooms, the world is tested. It becomes a moment where one choice can change everything—a choice between selflessness and greed, peace and destruction.
The Eternal Lotus waits quietly beneath the flowing waters of the Ganga. Its petals remain closed, holding a power that can shape the future.
And when it blooms again, the fate of the world will once again hang in the balance.
