Lie Tian
Those two words had caused me nothing but endless embarrassment and repressed anger throughout my time at this school.
My parents—overambitious to the point of idiocy— had named me Lie Tian.
裂 (Liè) - to split, render, tear apart.
天 (Tiān)-heaven, the sky itself.
My name together meant Rending Heaven.
Ever since my parents died—and I had been forced to enter my current state of living— the words had become nothing but a cruel brand to show my inadequacies, a brand I was forced to carry in silence.
What Rending Heaven.
I lived in the slums and was bullied relentlessly every day, no one had a single shred of mercy or respect for me.
What heaven had I ever torn apart?
A wide shadow fell over me.
" Lie..Tian, Lie.....Tian." he giggled staring at me with endless amusement "Say it slowly and it almost sounds impressive."
He paused...
" Almost "
He bent down and gripped my shoulders forcefully pulling me back, giving me no choice but to meet his gaze.
Staring straight in my eyes he uttered.
" Look at you," eyeing me with nothing but coldness and revulsion" you dog—try and rend the dirt beneath your face "
He exploded into hysterical laughter.
" Perhaps you were named wrong " he stopped, suddenly leaning in. His smile distorted twisted ear to ear— by far the creepiest thing I'd seen.
My body instinctively shuddered at the sight.
" Heaven had already crushed you.... before you got the chance. "

The sky was an overly pale blue, thin clouds drifting left and right. Above us the sun loomed watching us in avid silence. Below buzzed with the hum of hundreds of people, in anticipation of the event beginning.
" students of Red Plum high, today is your special day, years of wait and crushing anticipation finally come to a stop, today is your...." The crowd seemed to silence itslef at the anticipation of what the headmaster was about to say " awakening day!!"
At this moment the truth of the situation finally seemed to materialise for the students waiting in the crowd.
A loud shout of excited students and parents poured out.
" In fact today is even more special we have managed to garner 5 alumni's of the top 5 university's of Haojung providence not only that they will be offering scholarships today!.
The croud seemed to grow even more cheerful at the sound
Parents wept at the the thought of their children getting into top university's.
Students grinned with the anticipation of their future.
Except for one boy in the corner of the crowd.
Lie Tian. His ash-brown hair seemed muddled with dirt—the rest of his body no better, his back sagged, limp as if life had lost all meaning. His eyes empty—soulless—as if he had glimpsed the most devastating truth.
And he had, he was nothing more than a worthless bastard who doesnt even deserve a name—as Luo Si said it.
And he was right.
