Chapter 1

"Hey, do you feel honored, beauty?

Even if you didn't have cat ears, I'd still fancy you."

"Su Zai Zai's Little Fairy Diary"

Two days after the National Day holiday, it rained continuously in Z City. The rain was light but steady, yet it brought little coolness; the air still carried a touch of sultry heat.

The campus was always lively during breaks between classes.

The corridor was filled with the sounds of students laughing and playing around, accompanied by the faint patter of rain.

Amid the noise, Su Zai Zai walked out of the office, holding a large stack of English practice books.

After entering the classroom, she gritted her teeth as she placed the practice books on the desk near the door. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and picked up the topmost book.

Footsteps sounded behind her, and Jiang Jia suddenly pounced on her, laughing, "Zai Zai! Let's go! To the convenience store!"

Su Zai Zai blew her bangs out of her eyes and waved the practicebook in her hand, "Wait a moment, I need to go to the advanced class. The English teacher asked me to find a boy in their class for her."

"Who are you looking for?"

Upon hearing this, Su Zai Zai opened the cover of the practice book.

"Zhang Lu Rang, Class 1, Grade 10."

The handwriting was neat and powerful, appearing both orderly and bold.

Jiang Jia leaned over to take a look, and her eyes immediately widened, "Oh my God, Zhang Lu Rang! I want to go too!"

Her strong reaction made Su Zai Zai pause for a moment, but she quickly understood, "Is Zhang Lu Rang really that handsome?"

"Yeah! Although I haven't seen him yet, haha, I'm more interested in another guy. They say he's incredibly handsome, with that bad-boy charm!"

"Heh." Su Zai Zai chuckled.

"What are you laughing at?"

"Is my laugh charming enough?"

"Get lost, you jerk."

Before long, they reached the door of the advanced class.Su Zai Zai called out to someone inside from the back door and handed him the practice book. "Classmate, could you please give this to Zhang Lu Rang in your class and let him know the English teacher is looking for him?"

She turned her head and saw Jiang Jia still peeking inside, so she couldn't help but glance in the direction of her gaze.

"Which one is he?"

"Looks like he's not here..."

"Let's go then."

On the way back.

Jiang Jia was a bit disappointed and rolled her eyes at Su Zai Zai, "You really have no enthusiasm for handsome guys! I haven't seen even one of the two handsome guys in the advanced class yet! You should have handed the practice book to Zhang Lu Rang yourself!

Why did you ask someone else to do it? You irresponsible woman!"

"How am I irresponsible?"

"Hmph."

"I didn't even hit on him."

"And weren't you interested in the other guy?"

"If I can't see him, I'd settle for seeing Zhang Lu Rang! After all,he's also a handsome guy."

Su Zai Zai sneered, "I'm not interested in handsome guys."

Jiang Jia pouted, looking disdainful, "Stop bluffing."

Su Zai Zai looked serious, "Really, I'm only interested in someone like Tomoe, with cute cat ears that twitch when he talks. I want to pinch them."

"You're dreaming! Tomoe has fox ears, okay? And besides, isn't Tomoe handsome?! Go away!"

Su Zai Zai yawned lazily, "Being handsome isn't the point; the point is having a pair of cute ears."

"...No matter how I think about it, being handsome seems to be the main point."

During the long break, the two went back to the classroom, grabbed an umbrella, and headed downstairs to the convenience store. Most students took this time to buy snacks, so the convenience store was quite crowded.

After wandering around inside, they didn't find anything they wanted to buy. The space was small, the line was intimidatingly long, and the air was stuffy and uncomfortable. Su Zai Zai pursed her lips, lost her desire to buy anything, and slowly squeezed her way out.

There were also many people standing under the awning outside the convenience store. After a moment of hesitation, she openedher umbrella and walked a little further outside.

From this spot, she could just see the school gate.

A student was walking over from that direction, without an umbrella, taking long, quick strides.

Luckily, the rain wasn't too heavy, so he didn't look too disheveled.

Late?

It's way too late. It's already the end of the second period.

Su Zai Zai lowered her head and rubbed her sleepy eyes.

Bored, she tapped a puddle on the ground with the tip of her shoe, muttering under her breath, "Idiot, if it were me, I'd just come back in the afternoon."

After all, being late for two classes and being late for an entire morning is still just being late.

If you don't know how to seize this golden opportunity, give it to her, okay?

After saying this, Su Zai Zai lifted her head, only to find that the student had already walked to a spot two meters in front of her.

Their eyes met, his gaze was hard to decipher, his pupils a deep black, carrying a hint of intimidation, cold and clear, shining like stars.

Su Zai Zai: ""

...Did he fly over here?

Even though she knew he couldn't possibly have heard her, and even if he had, he wouldn't know she was talking about him, Su Zai Zai still felt guilty and quickly averted her gaze.

The boy walked past her swiftly, turning onto the small path ahead.

Su Zai Zai turned around, watching his back, lost in thought.

A delayed reaction hit her suddenly.

She quickly retracted her gaze, her cheeks gradually heating up.

The image from just now replayed in her mind.

The boy's eyes were like they had been washed by rain, moist and clear, as if electrified, piercing her heart. A tingling sensation surged from her chest, spreading to her fingertips, making the hand holding the umbrella tremble.

His hair was wet, as black as ink, his nose straight, his lips glossy and slightly red.

Fair skin, long legs, slim waist, narrow hips.

Such a beauty...

Su Zai Zai licked her lips.

Jiang Jia, who had just come out of the convenience store, interrupted her thoughts, pulling her out of this inexplicable daydream.

"Su Zai Zai! Get over here! I didn't bring an umbrella!"

Su Zai Zai paused her lip-licking action, came back to her senses, and walked over.

On the way back to the classroom, Jiang Jia was chattering beside her about the class gossip. Su Zai Zai responded a few times absentmindedly, but her mind wasn't really in it.

Her head felt like it was filled with mush, hazy and muddled.

Jiang Jia quickly noticed something was off with her and couldn't help but pat her on the arm, teasing, "What's up with you? Still thinking about your ideal type? A boyfriend with cat ears?"

Su Zai Zai shook her head, her expression slightly dazed, without saying a word.

She recalled what she had just said.

"Being handsome isn't the point; the point is having a pair of cute ears."

She felt like she had slapped her own face...

Su Zai Zai really hadn't expected that such a person could exist in this world.

No cat ears, yet somehow even more tempting.

The geography teacher was tapping the blackboard, lecturing.Su Zai Zai seemed to be listening intently, scribbling down the content from the blackboard into her notebook, but her mind was buzzing with thoughts of what had just happened.

This was the first time she had spaced out in geography class.

Since he walked along that path, he was probably a freshman or sophomore...

The third-year classrooms were in the opposite direction.

But with so many classes in the first and second years, there was no way to guess which one.

So annoying.

If she had known, she wouldn't have gone to the convenience store.

No, it wasn't her fault...

It was all that beautiful guy's fault! Why did he have to look at her? Didn't he know that good-looking people shouldn't just stare at others like that?

So unreserved!

When Su Zai Zai was in a bad mood, it was obvious, and Jiang Jia could sense her low spirits right away: "Hey, what's wrong? Didn't eat enough?"

Su Zai Zai ignored her, feeling increasingly irritated.

The fog outside turned the scenery into blurry patches of color.

Her eyelids drooped, her long, curled eyelashes trembled lightly, and her upturned peach blossom eyes reflected a glassy light.

The scenery instantly became the background, dimming in comparison.

Jiang Jia admired her for a moment and then exclaimed, "Sigh, Zai Zai, if you didn't talk, I'd think you were a fairy who had fallen from the heavens."

Hearing this, Su Zai Zai paused, and her irritation dissipated.

Her eyes immediately filled with a smile, curving into a beautiful crescent moon shape.

She felt a bit smug.

If she could be a fairy, she'd be fine being mute for life.

"But the moment you talk," Jiang Jia sighed, "it's like that fairy suddenly shoved a mouthful of poop into my mouth."

She patted her chest in distress, "It's not just anything, it's poop! A full mouthful of poop!"

Su Zai Zai turned to look at her, her gaze subtle, "And that poop wasn't enough to shut your mouth?"

Su Zai Zai picked up her textbook and read aloud the firstparagraph: "All physical processes in the atmosphere involve energy conversion. Solar radiation is the Earth's atmosphere's..."

Jiang Jia was confused, "What are you doing?"

"The most important energy source." She insisted on finishing the paragraph before answering Jiang Jia, "I don't mind giving you more to eat."

Jiang Jia: "..."

Zhang Lu Rang walked upstairs.

The rain wasn't heavy, but he was still half-soaked.

"Hey, Zhang Lu Rang," a boy behind him patted his shoulder, loudly saying, "Where did you go? The homeroom teacher is looking for you!"

Zhang Lu Rang glanced at him, tugged the corner of his mouth in a sort of response.

He walked to his seat, took a pack of tissues from the drawer, pulled out two pieces, and slowly rubbed his hair, his lips pressed tight.

The girl at the desk in front of him, Ye Zhenxin, turned around, curiously asking, "Hey, why are you all wet? Got caught in the rain?"Zhang Lu Rang looked down, pulled out a few more tissues to wipe the water off his body, his expression indifferent.

"Yeah."

Then he walked over to the trash can in the corner of the classroom and threw the tissues away.

The boys nearby were huddled together, laughing and cursing as they watched something on one of their phones: "Idiot! I cleared that level ages ago, and you're still playing it!"

Zhang Lu Rang paused for a moment.

A soft, girlish mumble echoed in his ears like a replay, each word lingering.

"Idiot, if it were me, I'd just come back in the afternoon."

His eyes were dark and deep, inscrutable.

When he looked over, her gaze was unsteady, guiltily averting her eyes.

So, she had indeed been cursing at him.
