Even indoors, Antarticon's cold was never entirely absent, though magical heating kept the room comfortably warm. Beyond the wide windows, the frozen city glimmered beneath the evening sky, and the lights of Sonera twinkled like stars.
Opaline was still asleep, so Lancet had kept her on one of the two available beds. She was still fully dressed, her stuffed Pegasus clutched to her chest.
Across the room, Spectra sat with her legs crossed, eyes closed and hands resting loosely over her knees. She was meditating. Thick plumes of Gloom moved through the room toward her, disappearing into her body as she slowly refined them.
Lancet sat near the window with a small bottle between his fingers. He tipped his head back and swallowed the last of another magical supplement, grimacing as the bitter taste spread across his tongue.
