Chapter 15 - Between Strength and Serenity

Arin lay down on his bed after a long day of training, his body exhausted but feeling true relief for the first time. As he drifted into a peaceful sleep… everything suddenly changed.

He found himself standing in an endless white void. No ground, no sky… just infinite whiteness that devoured everything around him. He slowly raised his head, all his senses on high alert.

Above him appeared something he had never seen before: an impossibly wide smile, carrying overwhelming confidence… and perhaps contempt. Two glowing violet eyes shone in the midst of this void, as if staring directly into the depths of his soul, playing with his emotions, stirring both fear and curiosity at the same time.

Arin froze for a moment, his voice caught in his throat:

"H… are those eyes… or what?"

He didn't dare think further, as the vision vanished instantly. A sudden feeling of confusion swept over him, leaving no time to comprehend what had just happened.

Suddenly, Arin was jolted by the noise of the door:

"You fool! You've slept in too long!"

Ray, standing at the doorway, pushed the door with her foot forcefully, as if saying, "Come on, wake up, lazy!" Her face was stern, carrying a kind of humorous anger, while Arin couldn't even respond.

Before he could catch his breath, she dragged him onto the floor, pulling his leg mercilessly:

"I'm sorry! Ray! I won't do it again, I promise I'll wake up early!"

Arin tried to keep his balance but couldn't control his embarrassment—not just from the fall, but from seeing Ray in a way he never had before: strict, determined, yet exuding such strong personal authority that it couldn't be ignored.

Without stopping, Ray continued to pull him outside the room, leaving Arin to catch his breath, touch the ground with his hands, and marvel at Ray's strong presence and control.

She paused for a few seconds and then spoke in a softer tone, as if giving him a chance to breathe:

"Alright, now that you're awake… no more strange dreams. Today, we move!"

Arin, trying to stand on his feet, looked at Ray and whispered, a mix of tension and gratitude in his voice:

"I'm sorry… really. I won't do it again… I promise!"

Ray smiled lightly, despite her strictness, as if enjoying this little moment, while Arin was still catching his breath, trying to digest everything—from the strange dream to being dragged by Ray.

Ray said, "Today… training will be here, around the cabin." She spoke firmly. "You'll learn to control your body in a limited space, and that's harder than you think."

Arin looked around in surprise; the space wasn't wide, trees surrounded them, the area was confined.

"But… this place is small! How can I train here?"

Ray smiled faintly but left no room for argument:

"True strength isn't about the place. It's about controlling yourself wherever you are. Even in the smallest space, you'll learn to move freely, respond quickly, and use every angle to your advantage."

With her insistence, Arin began a series of exercises: jumping between small tree trunks, balancing on rocks, climbing fallen logs, and using every part of the environment as an obstacle to simulate nature.

"Feel every movement," Ray shouted, watching every step. "Every jump, every turn… must be calculated. Even the smallest motion can make a difference."

Arin grew tired quickly, but he began to notice something strange: his body responded faster, his balance improved, and his muscles moved with greater fluidity.

"Look at me," Ray said suddenly, placing her hands on her hips. "Even in this relatively small space, you can challenge your limits. Every movement today will make you stronger for tomorrow—for the mana, for everything you'll face."

Arin took a deep breath, sweat dripping, and said with a small smile:

"I didn't expect… that this place could be this challenging… but… I feel like I'm actually improving."

They continued a series of intense physical exercises: strength, flexibility, endurance, and sudden quick movements, all around the cabin, pushing every limit of his body.

"Don't stop," Ray said in a low, firm voice. "Even if you feel tired… this is just the beginning. Today, your body is the foundation for controlling mana tomorrow."

After a while, they sat on a nearby log, panting from exhaustion.

Arin, smiling tiredly but happily, said:

"Even around this cabin… I felt freer than ever."

Ray's gaze was filled with hidden appreciation:

"Remember, control isn't about the place—it's about mastering yourself wherever you are. Today you learned the basics… tomorrow we build on it even more."

For the first time, Arin felt he wasn't just a trainee—his body had become a tool to understand the world and control the power he would wield later, while Ray watched every move, taking every chance to assess his abilities, all while keeping the mystery of his true power hidden.

After a full day of intense physical training, night covered the forest with threads of magical darkness and calm. Arin and Ray returned to the cabin to rest.

As they sat at the edge of the table, Arin suddenly asked in a quiet but hesitant voice:

"Ray… is there a place where you wash up?"

Ray raised her eyebrows, as if the question reminded her of something she hadn't noticed:

"You reminded me… I haven't shown you that place yet."

Arin nodded, curious and amazed, and asked:

"And what does it look like?"

Ray smiled lightly and said:

"Come with me."

She led him through the dense trees just a few meters from the cabin, a hidden hot spring among the trees. Steam rose gently, forming a light mist along the edges, glimmering in the moonlight.

Arin paused, eyes widening with amazement and delight:

"I never imagined something like this existed here…"

Ray said calmly:

"I'll return to the cabin now to prepare dinner. You'll stay here, rest, wash up, and let your body recover after the long day. I'll be back shortly."

Arin nodded, his heart fluttering with a strange sense of peace and serenity. He began to undress quickly, as if folding behind him all the fatigue and worries accumulated since arriving in this world.

When his body immersed in the hot spring, he felt warmth flowing through him completely, melting every tension, every muscle ache, and turning exhaustion into inner calm he had never known before. Every feeling of fear, disorientation, and loneliness in this new world temporarily disappeared under the heat of the spring, giving him space to reflect, breathe freely, and feel liberation for the first time since entering this world.

Arin closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled softly. The sense of relief reached his heart. It wasn't just his body being cleansed… it was as if a part of his weary soul was finally breathing.

At that moment, he felt the cool breeze on his wet skin. It didn't bother him; it enhanced the feeling of serenity. Minutes later, he heard a faint sound in the distance, a reminder that Ray would return soon to wash as well, bringing another opportunity to prepare for the cabin and the warm dinner after this long day.

Arin lifted his head, gazing at the glittering moon between the branches, and thought silently:

"Even in a strange world… even among these trees… there are moments that make one feel alive… truly alive."
