Bishop Athera looked away from Kai's eyes and glanced back down at the device - a truth rune.
His skin broke out into a cold sweat, his heart racing in his chest.
'Why didn't I think of this? No...this wasn't my fault, why would they use this for something so minor? I trespassed in a fucking forest, I'm nineteen years old and it's a first offence! I didn't kill someone, what the ever loving fuck!'
He worked to stay calm, to keep his expression still and impassive.
But his eyes flickered up to the glass ceiling.
He was sure Uriel could break it.
As soon as they speak, he could ask him to fly them up and break through.
They could escape. They would just have to run.
Slowly, carefully, Kai inched a little closer to him.
"They're telling the truth."
Kai's eyes widened in disbelief.
'...huh?'
