Chapter 1 - Transmigration

The hospital bed was cold beneath her body.

A girl lay there, still and silent.

Slowly, she opened her eyes.

Bright white lights burned above her. For a moment, she couldn't understand where she was.

Then voices reached her ears—loud, sharp, angry. People were shouting outside, like they were arguing.

One female voice stood out clearly.

She belonged to a girl with an average face—nothing striking, nothing unforgettable. Plain features, but a sharp tone filled with bitterness. The kind that came from standing in someone else's shadow for too long.

"Small injuries happen during shoots all the time," she said with a forced laugh.

"Actors fall, bleed, get hurt. That's normal. People just make a big issue when they want attention."

Her words were careless, but the jealousy behind them was clear.

She burns with jealousy because Elena's face is more beautiful than hers.

Whoever looks at Elena—actors, strangers, anyone—ends up admiring her.

She lets out a small, mocking laugh and says aloud,

"If it was just a simple push,

then I can push you from these stairs too.

It's okay—just a simple push.

You won't get hurt much."

She steps forward, her eyes cold, her intention clear.

Before she can touch her, another woman rushes in and stops her.

"Hey, crazy," her agent says sharply.

"Why all this useless drama?

You just want compensation, right?

We'll pay for whatever injury she has. All of it. Okay?"

The girl speaks up angrily,

"She was going to push me."

Her agent cuts in immediately, his tone firm and low,

"Mr. Wang has said to settle this matter quickly.

There's no need to get involved with these people—

they are small people."

Mr. Wang is a minor shareholder in Starlight Entertainment, the company where Elena works under contract.

Selena Joseph is also an actress in the same entertainment company.

Selena and Elena joined Starlight Entertainment at the same time.

But because Elena was more beautiful, everyone praised her.

That was why Selena Joseph disliked Elena

from the very beginning.

When Selena thinks about Mr. Wang's words—to not make the matter bigger—she stays silent.

Mr. Wang is a shareholder of Starlight Entertainment, and she does not dare to go against him.

Because of him, she gets more opportunities in Starlight—

more movie roles, more shows, more options.

So she listens to him and lets the matter go.

"Alright. We'll pay the compensation.

We'll pay all the hospital bills for whatever injury she has.

Let's go."

Saying this, she signals her agent.

The agent turns, and soon they all leave.

Watching them walk away so easily, Elena's mother cries out in anger,

"Mom, did you see that? Ele is injured, and they're just leaving like this!"

She clenches her hands. "I won't let this go. I won't!"

Mrs. Carter holds her firmly and says calmly,

"This is not the time for all this. Elena is hurt.

We should go to her room."

They move quickly inside.

When they enter the hospital room, they see that Elena has regained consciousness.

Elena's mother rushes to her bed, grabs her hand tightly, and says in a trembling voice,

"Ellie, dear… are you okay?

Tell Mama. Please tell Mama."

Elena slowly gathers herself, holding onto her memories, steadying her emotions.

She looks at her mother's face—

the genuine care, the real concern in her eyes.

She sees the worry and love clearly.

Elena has been an orphan all her life.

She has never known a parent's love, never felt the warmth of a family.

Her eyes turn soft and emotional.

She looks at her mother and says gently,

"Mom, I'm fine. I don't feel any pain at all."

Her mother cups Elena's cheeks softly and says,

"Even if there is a little pain, tell me, okay?"

"Okay, Mom," Elena replies quietly.

Just then, the hospital room door opens.

A teenage boy, around high-school age, steps inside.

His features look slightly similar to Elena's—

soft, handsome, and familiar.

Elena slowly lifts her eyes and looks at the high-school boy standing near the door.

He has a handsome face and beautiful eyes.

Something about him feels familiar.

His features resemble her mother's—

the same gentle eyes, the same calm expression.

His name is Ivan Carter.

He is Elena's younger brother, still in high school.

Ivan has always listened to his sister.

Whatever Elena says, he follows without question.

As his eyes meet hers, worry flashes across his face.

"Sister… are you okay?" he asks softly.

Her eyes soften as she looks at the boy sitting beside her.

She lifts her hand and gently strokes his head.

"I'm okay," she says softly.

After that, a middle-aged man walks into the room.

He is Elena's uncle.

His name is Robin Carter.

He is the one who brought Ivan to the hospital, because Ivan had insisted on seeing Elena.

Robin looks at Elena with deep concern and asks softly,

"Elena, are you okay?"

Elena turns her eyes toward him.

As she looks at him, a thought crosses her mind—

He is my uncle from my father's side.

She nods slightly, trying to reassure him.

"I'm okay," she says quietly.

Robin Carter stands quietly beside the bed.

Grease-stained hands.

Simple clothes.

A man who clearly doesn't belong to the shiny world Elena works in.

Yet his eyes are full of worry.

He runs a small mechanic shop.

Elena's father's younger brother.

A sweet, simple, honest man—hardworking and deeply caring.

"Ivan wouldn't stop insisting," Robin says softly.

"He said he had to see you."

Ivan lowers his head but stays close to Elena.

Elena looks at both of them.

For a moment, her chest feels tight.

All her life, she had been alone.

No parents.

No family warmth.

Yet now, in this hospital room.

In her past life, she had been an assassin—

raised by an organization,

trained to survive alone.

Back then, there was no family.

Only orders.

Only missions.

But now…

She was not alone.

For the first time in her life,

people were staying—not because they had to,

but because they cared.

Elena slowly tries to sit up.

Her grandmother immediately reaches out and stops her.

"Child, you're not well yet," she says gently.

"Rest for now, okay? You're still weak."

She carefully helps Elena lie back down.

Elena's mother steps closer and says softly,

"You were injured and just regained consciousness.

You should rest. I'll bring you some nutritious soup for you."

Her uncle nods and says,

"I'll take you home, sister-in-law.

And I'll drop Ivan as well. Come on, Ivan."

He looks at Ivan.

Ivan shakes his head and moves closer to the bed.

"No. I'll stay here with my sister."

His grandmother smiles and says kindly,

"Your sister has just woken up.

Let her rest for now."

She gently adds,

"After she eats and feels better, you can come back.

You can stay as long as you want and talk as much as you like."

Hearing this, Ivan finally nods.

Ivan leaves with his mother and uncle.

Before leaving, his grandmother turns back to Elena and says softly,

"I'll inform the doctor that you're awake.

Rest now, child."

With that, she also leaves the room and close the door.

Elena is left lying quietly on the bed.

When I told the organisation that I wouldn't take any more orders,

I saw it in their eyes—

Fear.

I wasn't just another agent.

I was their most powerful one.

A perfect hundred-percent record.

The core asset of their central operations.

And they knew it.

Someone like me could destroy them if I chose to.

For the organization, the rule was simple:

What can't be controlled doesn't deserve to live.

What can't be used is a liability.

So they sent me on a mission.

A trap, disguised as an assignment.

But my record wasn't perfect by luck.

I knew they wouldn't let me walk away so easily.

I had already prepared for the end.

That was why I planted a bomb inside the organization—

not as a threat, but as a promise.

If they ever tried to control me again,

I would take them with me…

straight to King Yama.

I knew them too well.

An assassin with a hundred persent record.

So when they lured me into a so‑called mission,

I understood immediately.

This was a trap.

They believed that if I couldn't belong to them,

I shouldn't exist at all.

What they didn't know

was that I had already planned my ending.

The bomb hidden within the organization…

and the one I carried with me—

I detonated both.

In a single moment, everything ended.

The organization was wiped out.

Their power, their secrets, their control—gone.

My debt with them was finally cleared.

I thought that was it.

That death would be my final reward.

But fate had other plans.

God gave me a second chance.

A new life.

In another world.

This time, I will live freely—

by my own rules, my own will.

No missions.

No orders.

No chains.

And to the owner of this body, I whisper silently—

Don't worry.

Everyone who ever hurt you

will pay for their actions.

I will protect your family—

because now,

they are my family too.
