Chapter 19 - Trap

@RegretfulWatcher

Elena, sorry for the harsh words. You handled this with class.

@SlowButSure

The truth came late, but it came. Respect to Elena for staying calm.

@RealTalk_CN

Mob mentality is scary. We were wrong.

@RachelForever_88

So now everyone suddenly changed sides? Don't act innocent.

@GreenTeaQueenStan

One full video doesn't erase everything. Stop overthinking.

@ThinkTwicePls

No one said Rachel is evil. We're just saying Elena wasn't guilty.

@PureHeart_R

You people love switching opinions when it's convenient.

@JustAsking_92

It's not switching. It's correcting a mistake.

@OnlyRachel_97

Why apologize to Elena now? Rachel already explained herself.

@LogicFirst

Explaining and taking responsibility aren't the same thing.

@RachelAngel_FC

Stop creating unnecessary conflict. The matter is closed.

@NeutralEyes

Closed for whom? People were dragged publicly.

@DramaFreeLife_01

Internet judges too fast. Both sides should move on.

@RegretfulWatcher

That doesn't mean we can't admit we were wrong.

@GreenTeaSoul

You're all just following the crowd again.

Elena scrolls for a moment, finds the comments repetitive and dull, locks her phone, tosses it aside, and falls asleep—unbothered by the chaos she leaves behind.

.....

The next day on set, the atmosphere is tense.

Rachel arrives early, unusually quiet, eyes fixed on the entrance.

She's waiting.

When Elena finally appears and the crew gets busy, the two end up alone near the vanity area.

Rachel lowers her voice.

"I did what you asked. The statement, the video… everything."

Elena doesn't even stop walking.

"And the audio clip?" Rachel adds quickly.

Elena pauses—just long enough to be dramatic.

"Not yet."

Rachel's jaw tightens.

"You said you'd delete it."

"I will," Elena replies lightly.

"On the last day of the shoot."

Rachel frowns.

"Why?"

Elena turns, smiles sweetly, and says,

"Because I like happy endings."

Beat.

"And because," she adds, eyes cool,

"it's my choice."

Then she walks away, leaving Rachel standing there—

silent and irritated.

Lyra looks at Elena and says softly,

"Your scenes are almost over. Today is your last one… I'm going to miss you."

Elena pauses, then smiles gently at her.

"I'll miss you too."

Elena's scenes are almost finished.

With some free time on her hands, she turns to Lyra.

"Let's get something for my family. We're in the capital anyway."

Lyra smiles.

"Good idea."

The two head to a nearby mall.

Nothing fancy—just quiet walks, soft lights, and simple choices.

Elena carefully picks small gifts, thoughtful ones.

Things that feel like home.

Elena and Lyra are just about to leave the mall when Elena suddenly stops.

Her gaze sharpens.

Ahead of them, the same man from the elevator walks through the crowd.

Elena thinks for a second, then says quietly,

"Let's follow him."

Lyra blinks.

"Why?"

Elena glances at her, completely straight-faced.

"He's my relative's love."

Lyra pauses.

"…That's a reason?"

Elena is already moving.

"Follow me."

With a shrug, Lyra follows.

What they don't know is that the man—Darek—is already being tracked.

From different directions, Roben's team closes in.

Joker on the left.

Lingfeng near the escalator.

All of them with walkie-talkies, low voices, controlled movements.

"Target moving toward the west exit," Lingfeng mutters.

"Crowd is thick," Joker adds.

Roben watches calmly—until his eyes catch two girls following Darek.

And then—

He recognizes her.

Elena.

Roben clicks his walkie-talkie.

"Lingfeng, handle the situation for now."

Then, to Joker,

"Come with me."

He moves toward Elena, controlled but alert.

At the same moment, Elena looks up.

Her eyes meet Roben's from a distance.

A faint smile touches her lips.

"So my guess was right," she thinks.

Lyra notices him too—and freezes.

She grabs Elena's arm, whispering urgently,

"Elena… look. That man."

Her eyes sparkle.

"What a handsome piece."

Elena chuckles softly, completely unbothered.

"Hm," she says, amused.

"Handsome… yes."

Roben says it deliberately.

He knows Joker won't be able to handle Elena.

She recognizes the man, understands the danger—

and still followed him all the way here.

That kind of calm curiosity isn't normal.

It's dangerous.

Which is exactly why she's enjoying it.

Roben presses the walkie-talkie again, voice firm.

"I'll take Elena out. You handle the other girl."

"Ok, Major," Joker replies.

Roben stops right in front of Elena, close enough to block her path.

His tone is clipped, authoritative.

"Come with me. We need to talk. Over there."

Elena doesn't step back.

Instead, she steps closer.

So close that Roben can smell her perfume.

So close that her fingers almost brush the walkie-talkie clipped to his chest.

The green light is still on.

Elena's lips curve slowly, deliberately.

"What work, darling?" she asks sweetly.

The channel goes dead silent.

On the other end, Lingfeng stiffens.

His breath actually stops.

Did someone just call the Major that—

without fear?

Elena's eyes flick to the walkie-talkie again, amusement flashing in them.

"Oh, don't tell me you want me to come quietly," she continues, voice light, almost teasing.

"Last time you did that, you left my hotel room in the middle of the night without a word."

Roben's gaze darkens.

"And if this is about me being upset," she adds, pretending to pout,

"then no. I'm still angry."

She leans in, lowering her voice just enough to burn.

"After all, we spent the night in the same room… the same bed…"

"And by morning, you were gone. No goodbye. Very rude."

The air around them turns icy.

Roben's expression hardens, his eyes dangerous enough to silence a room.

Nearby, Joker's brain short-circuits.

Same room. Same bed.

When did the Major's life skip ten levels?

He stares at them, shocked.

Lingfeng freezes—

When did Major even do that?

The cold, dangerous Major… having a romantic past?

His brain almost short-circuits.

Then he looks at Elena—

This woman has serious guts. Talking to the Major like that… without fear? He thought

All this time he'd believed Roben's cold presence alone was enough to scare away any woman brave enough to look at him.

Clearly… Elena didn't read that rulebook.

Lyra, standing a little behind, blinks twice—then grins.

"Oh my god," she whispers loudly,

"Elena… so this handsome piece is yours?"

She looks Roben up and down again, flustered.

"I mean—hot—sorry—handsome."

Then she elbows Elena lightly.

"Wow. Your love life is extremely romantic."

Roben hears everything.

His jaw tightens.

For a split second, everyone can feel his temper spike—

then clamp down just as fast.

"This is not the place," he says coldly.

Roben doesn't move away.

He just looks at her—slowly, carefully—like he's recalculating a threat level.

"Elena," he says quietly, warning wrapped in her name,

"you're crossing a line."

She smiles wider, clearly enjoying it.

"Oh? Which one?" she asks lightly.

"The professional line?"

"Or the one you crossed first… that night?"

The words hit harder than intended.

Joker visibly stiffens.

Lyra's mouth falls open.

Lingfeng, listening through the walkie-talkie, forgets to breathe.

Roben lowers his voice even more.

"This isn't a joke."

Elena tilts her head, pretending to think.

"You're right," she says calmly.

"Jokes are funny. This—" she gestures between them,

"—is just my unfinished love."

Elena lifts her hand and slowly traces a finger along his jaw, her touch light—but deliberate.

Her lips curve into a dangerous smile.

"If you want," she whispers, "I can agree."

She leans closer, her voice dropping.

"And we can finally finish what we left unfinished."

A brief pause—just enough to unsettle him.

"My hotel is nearby," she adds softly, eyes locking onto his.

"You remember my room… right?"

Behind them—

Lyra stared, wide-eyed.

She's unreal… she thought. So cool.

Joker froze internally.

This girl really loves the Major… or she's completely fearless. Does she even realize how dangerous he is?

Lingfeng, listening through the comms, almost choked.

Since when did the Major do THAT with this woman? She has the guts… absolute guts.

Shock. Fear. Pure disbelief.

Roben finally moved.

He caught Elena's hand mid-air, his grip firm, possessive ,Enough.

Without another word, he pulled her away with him. The cold followed.

As Roben dragged her forward, Elena leaned closer, completely unbothered by the danger in his grip.

"Darling," she whispered lazily,

"are you planning to do this somewhere private?"

Roben's steps didn't slow, but the pressure in his hand tightened—a silent warning.

Elena chuckled, tilting her head.

"Fine. But next time, it better be on a proper bed.

The ground doesn't have the same charm as a soft mattress."

For a split second—

The world froze.

Joker nearly tripped over his own feet.

Did she just say that… to the Major?

His brain screamed one word: RIP.

Lingfeng's mind went completely blank.

Next time? BED?

Since when did the Major's life come with… sequels?

This woman wasn't brave—she was terrifying.

Lyra stopped walking altogether.

Her jaw dropped.

Oh my God… Elena, you're insane.

Then, slowly—admiration crept in.

But wow… she really matches him.

Roben said nothing.

The cold around him deepened, thick and suffocating, like a storm barely held back. Anyone else would've been crushed by it.

Elena only smiled wider.

Behind them, three people stood in stunned silence.
