Xira POV
The sound of a door creaking and footsteps approaching put me on alert.
I sat up, heart beating at the light that got closer.
It's not time for food yet. I thought to myself.
I had spent almost an entire month in the dungeon and there was a system. Food of stale, dry bread and soup which was really just water with a couple of vegetables floating in it.
It was given to me once a day, that's how I had tracked the days.
There was no way they were bringing food to me because the birds had only just started chirping, foor came hours after.
Long into the day, when the cold stone had transformed to hot against my skin.
So why were they breaking tradition, what was about to happen to me?
Was this the day?
Had the twins decided my purpose had ended?
My heart constricted and I swallowed as tears filled my eyes.
My imminent death hurt more because for just a glimpse of time, I had believed that things changed.
