"Wait, Acromantula, cedar wood!"
Newt turned to look at the small bottle on the table, which was made of cedar.
Unscrewing the cap, Newt manipulated a drop of liquid to float out.
"Sure enough, it's Acromantula venom, and the quality..."
Newt thought about the Acromantula venom he had stored; very little of it was as high quality as the bottle Lucien had sent.
"It seems that Acromantula must be very old for its venom to be so potent."
To be honest, an Acromantula of that age should be quite rare, which made Newt wonder again.
Where did Lucien find so many Acromantulas, including such an old individual? It must be a sizable colony...
Newt looked at the pile of documents again. Stimulated by the Acromantula, he was now even more curious about the other information.
Several records floated into Newt's hand:
Centaur...
Newt's eyes widened slightly. Centaurs, after all, were very indifferent to humans; most would even say they were disgusted, always keeping a respectful distance.
"How does that child even have records of Centaurs?"
Glancing at the half-remaining stack of papers, Newt really wanted to know how much of it was Centaur data.
Just as Newt was about to cast a spell to summon them, a caring voice interrupted him:
"Newt, I just heard you cough. Did you catch a cold?"
"The weather here is too damp and cold. I told you to come back to America with me to recuperate, but you wouldn't go."
Tina watched her husband flipping through a pile of papers and said softly,
"Let's have breakfast first."
"Tina, you go ahead and eat. I'll just look for a bit, then eat later."
"..."
A minute later, Newt obediently sat down at the dining table.
Though he still held a stack of documents in his hand.
Tina looked at Lumina, who had shrunk in size. After the initial surprise, she quickly adapted to Lumina's magical abilities.
"Lumina, what kind of food do you like?"
Hearing this, Newt also looked up, curiously observing Lumina, thinking it was a good opportunity to learn about this magical creature's habits.
"Thank you, Ms. Tina. Some vegetables and fruits will do."
Tina nodded, waved her wand, and a plate of fresh fruits and vegetables flew in from the kitchen.
Newt secretly noted that Lumina was a vegetarian.
However, a surprising scene unfolded: Lumina gently sniffed the fruits and vegetables, and small wisps of blue-white energy emerged from their surfaces, entering Lumina's mouth and nose one after another.
This peculiar way of eating was truly a first for Newt.
Tina, beside him, also marveled, saying she had never seen anything so unique.
After observing Lumina's meal, Newt continued to look at the documents in his hand.
The more he read, the deeper the confusion and incomprehension in Newt's eyes became.
"Newborn Centaurs need to bathe continuously for seven days in Windstar Grass juice?"
Newt couldn't understand why Lucien could record even this, as if he had lived with Centaurs for several years.
After a quick breakfast, Newt returned to his desk to read the documents.
He finally finished the Centaur section, and this time, Newt found it difficult to offer corrections.
Just like with the Acromantula before, this information was too extensive and detailed, with some specifics that even Newt himself wasn't entirely clear on.
Newt, still pondering how Lucien could get so close to Centaurs, turned to the new information.
"Unicorn?"
This made Newt even more confused. Wasn't Lucien a junior student? Didn't Unicorns naturally reject males?
So how did he get close?
"Did he ask a female classmate to help observe? He couldn't have used Polyjuice Potion to turn into a girl..."
Newt shook his head, continuing to look at the documents. There wasn't much left; Acromantula and Centaurs made up the bulk of all the information.
"Changes in Unicorns after pregnancy..."
Reading this part of the record, Newt was very surprised and couldn't help but sigh that Lucien's luck was a bit too good.
He had encountered pregnant Unicorns before and had been fortunate enough to observe a Unicorn's birth from the shadows.
But to record the detailed changes and characteristics of a Unicorn during pregnancy, like Lucien had, was truly unprecedented.
"He should be very suited for a career related to magical creatures. I just don't know if Lucien has any interest in it..."
Newt took out paper and pen and quickly wrote a reply, which included answers to Lucien's questions, encouragement, and recognition, and casually inquired about his house.
Looking at the largest portion of Acromantula data and the bottle of venom, Newt shook his head.
"Hogwarts students are truly getting better with each generation."
Newt opened the trapdoor and went down.
Within a few minutes, he emerged carrying a small purple bucket.
This was a container made of purple salt crystal, designed to safely store Blast-Ended Skrewt explosive fluid.
He tucked the envelope and the small bucket into his satchel and handed them to Lumina.
Just as Lumina was about to bid farewell and leave, Newt finally asked the question he should have asked earlier:
"By the way, Lumina, what kind of magical creature are you, exactly?"
Lumina's ethereal and otherworldly voice echoed in Newt's mind:
"Mr. Newt, I am a Unicorn."
...
Inside the hut with the Undetectable Extension Charm.
Lucien enjoyed the undisturbed quiet.
He flipped through the "Identification of Dark Arts" in his hand.
"Soul-controlling Dark Arts, aside from the most infamous Imperio..."
Lucien had already learned many characteristics and identification methods of Dark Arts.
Nearly every description of a Dark Art would include the line:
Using Dark Arts will ultimately cause irreversible distortion and mutation of the soul and body. This is an abyss from which there is no return once entered!
A question kept arising in Lucien's mind:
If different people use Dark Arts, will the effects they experience also be different?
The best comparison would be Lord Voldemort and Grindelwald.
Hmm, Lord Voldemort's distorted madness, besides his research and use of Dark Arts,
might also be due to the after-effects of creating Horcruxes and tearing his soul?
In comparison, Grindelwald seemed much more normal, didn't he?
Physically, there were no obvious mutations; at least his appearance was still that of a normal human.
As for his soul, it's hard to say, but at least he wasn't as utterly insane as Tom.
Or rather, he was mad in a calmer way, still able to weave and advance his own plans, rather than relying purely on violence and terror to crush his enemies.
Grindelwald must have used quite a few Dark Arts; wasn't the Fiendfyre that could incinerate cities one of them?
"System, using too many Dark Arts will affect the soul and body."
"Does my SS+ Dark Arts talent also not prevent or lessen this effect?"
"[Unless the host's Dark Arts reaches a true SSS level, free from mundane restrictions, prolonged and frequent use or attempts at extremely evil Dark Arts will ultimately have an impact.]"
Indeed, there are still limitations.
However, it seems that the higher one's Dark Arts talent, the higher their "resistance" to Dark Arts.
The effects of using Dark Arts would be fewer and lighter.
Hmm, Lord Voldemort's talent was definitely strong, but he ended up looking like neither human nor ghost. Was it because he tried too extreme Dark Arts? Those evil resurrection methods? The insane operation of splitting his soul to create Horcruxes?
Haha, if an Eastern Wizard heard that someone's method for eternal life was to refine themselves into several spirit artifacts, they'd probably burst out laughing.
"System, with my Dark Arts talent, how frequently would I need to use them to cause irreversible effects?"
"[Casting 100 Avada Kedavra curses daily for a month will cause irreversible effects.]"
"..."
Lucien fell silent.
A hundred Avada Kedavras every day, for a whole month?
Interesting.
Then there should be another prison in the world, specifically for Lucien Grafton.
One that would be as famous as Azkaban and Nurmengard.
