Chapter 71 - Chapter 71 Quirrell's Confession, Embarrassed Little Hands

Inside the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor's office.

Quirrell was prostrate on the floor, his face pale, large beads of cold sweat constantly dripping.

"I… please forgive my ignorance and weakness, my great master."

Quirrell's voice was hoarse with pain, as faint as a mosquito's buzz.

A cold voice resounded in his mind, bringing with it more stinging pain.

"That was magic I personally improved! I didn't expect an idiot like you to learn it quickly."

"I'll give you one more week, otherwise I don't mind directly branding this magic into your brain!"

Quirrell nodded repeatedly, trembling.

"Yes, yes, my master."

The Dark Arts taught by Lord Voldemort was a curse that slowly corroded the soul, thereby controlling the other party's thoughts.

The advantage of this curse was its extreme stealth; unless a careful examination was performed within an hour of being affected, the traces would gradually disappear.

Conversely, it took a longer period, with the longest interval of use not exceeding ten days, which could be used on that audacious, damned brat during weekly tutoring sessions.

But this Dark Arts was too difficult to learn, and the process was extremely painful, like having one's brain stirred and one's throat torn.

Sensing Quirrell's deep fear, Lord Voldemort, who resided within him, was both disdainful and satisfied.

He currently had no spare power to carry out such idle threats.

But his prestige, his terror, was still undoubtedly powerful!

Lord Voldemort also realized that his life force was still draining, and he would need to replenish it in two or three months, and also recover his power. Perhaps the Unicorns in the Forbidden Forest... Inside the cabin.

Lucien closed the book in his hand.

To be honest, the system's reply made him laugh, but also slightly relaxed.

At least he understood that his "resistance" to Dark Arts was extremely high; as long as he didn't use it too frequently, and didn't touch extremely dangerous Dark Arts.

Then the impact he received would be very small, and it was not irreversible.

Dark Arts was also a form of knowledge; since it could be learned and mastered, Lucien would not deliberately reject it, nor would he develop a fear of it.

Of course, he shouldn't truly indulge in Dark Arts.

Knowledge, after all, is meant to be used by people.

"Master, I'm back!"

Lumina's figure instantly appeared before Lucien.

"Inside is Mr. Newt's reply and a small barrel."

Small barrel?

Lucien had a guess, opened his small satchel, and took out an envelope and a purple small barrel.

Purple salt crystals, a substance that can be used to preserve Billywig Sting Extract.

Lucien gently placed the small barrel on the ground and began to read Newt's reply.

It wasn't difficult to provide elements for plant growth; a combination of Charms and Alchemy, plus some Potions, would suffice.

Seeing Newt's corrections to the information about Magical Creatures, Lucien also read it carefully.

This was knowledge directly taught by the greatest Magical Creatures expert of the era; Lucien couldn't possibly ignore it.

Lucien also read Newt asking which house he was in, so he planned to mention it in his next letter.

However, this senior alumnus seemed to be hoping he was a little badger from Hufflepuff.

At the end of the letter, Newt detailed the characteristics of Billywig Sting Extract, storage details, and precautions for use.

Lucien carefully memorized this information.

The Billywig Sting Extract was very powerful, easily capable of destroying and corroding most substances.

The human body was naturally no match for it; Lucien certainly didn't want to be blown to pieces and then licked back to life by Lumina.

"Oh right, Master, before leaving, Mr. Newt asked me what kind of Magical Creature I was."

"Oh, what did he say after you answered?"

Simon tilted his head and thought for a moment.

"Hmm, Mr. Newt seemed very shocked at first, repeatedly saying 'Is a Unicorn like this?' 'Even a mutated species can't...'"

"Then he very solemnly told me to convey to Master: absolutely do not easily expose my existence, even if my appearance is very different from other Unicorn."

"He also said he would help keep the secret and would not reveal my situation."

Hearing Simon's relay, Lucien nodded.

Newt was indeed a good person, and his advice was very reasonable.

If Simon's abilities were truly as "weak" as those native Unicorn.

The Unicorn of this world, judging purely by appearance, actually resembled strangely shaped deer.

And their ability, simply put, was to "discern loyalty and treachery," the ability to perceive the purity of a soul, thereby selecting those of high moral character to become leaders of the magic world.

As for the wondrous and powerful talents like Simon's ability to ride clouds and mists, burn Net Fire, and Apparition, the native Unicorn possessed none of them.

In Lucien's opinion, the self-preservation abilities of those native Unicorn were truly worrying.

Because of their special talent for discerning people, they were targeted by both righteous and evil Wizards, yet they had no means to protect themselves.

"Hmm, I will thank Mr. Newt in my letter, and you remember to thank him next time you go."

"Did he give any other instructions?"

"It seems, finally, Mr. Newt whispered,'Should I find an opportunity to visit Hogwarts?'"

This made Lucien raise an eyebrow, a smile emerging at the corner of his mouth.

Was he uneasy about Lumina's existence and wanted to talk to him in person, or did he guess that there were a large number of Acromantulas in the Forbidden Forest around the school, and so he planned to come and see... Tsk tsk, if the students of Hogwarts knew that the famous Newt Scamander was coming, wouldn't they go absolutely crazy?

"fantastic beasts and where to find them" was a designated textbook at Hogwarts, read by every Young Wizards.

But unlike other textbooks, the book written by Newt vividly showcased the interesting aspects of various Magical Creatures, introducing a dreamlike world to many Young Wizards.

Both the book and the author were incredibly popular among Wizards!

Hmm, however, given Newt's reclusive nature, he probably wouldn't easily show up in front of so many people, would he?

He pulled out a normal pocket watch, one that could tell time.

It snapped open. Looking at the time, Lucien felt it was time to prepare for Defense Against the Dark Arts Class... Ding-a-ling—

After the class bell rang.

Lucien walked out of the classroom, preparing to follow Quirrell to his office.

He mentally reviewed the knowledge points of "Identification of Dark Arts" again.

At the same time, he also planned to go have afternoon tea with Headmaster Dumbledore after the private tutoring session.

They would chat about some learning problems and everyday matters, but mainly he wanted Old Dumbledore to help him check, adding an extra layer of defense against Dark Arts curses.

"Ahem, Lucien, can I speak with you?"

Hearing someone call him, Lucien turned back to see Malfoy and his two cronies.

The previous class was shared with Slytherin.

"What is it?"

Malfoy curved his lips into a smile he considered appropriate.

"Lucien, although you are Muggle-born, you are still very outstanding."

"I think you are worthy of Malfoy's friendship."

After speaking, Malfoy extended his hand, seemingly waiting for Lucien to shake it with an excited expression.

Lucien looked calmly at Malfoy, a hint of concern flashing in his eyes.

What nonsense was this child speaking?

Did he hit his head when Harry pranked him last time?

Alas, he didn't receive timely medical attention.

"Thanks, but no."

Malfoy seemed not to have heard what the other person said when he saw Lucien turn and walk away dismissively.

Leaving a small hand suspended in the awkward air.
