Chapter 14 - Control Your Changing, Kids!

"Granny!" I shouted in excitement. "So glad you're here," I continued, trying to be afraid of my dead monster, smiling evilly, coming at us. Blocking us by the cave wall. Still seeing granny was floating in the air, and glowing at us, I didn't know if we should trust our granny anymore.

"Hello, children," said granny. Showing her teeth which were green and stained. Then, granny turned to look at me. "You two, go away," granny said, angrily waving us good-bye. I started to protest against our two son's dead granny. We belong in the same family. But Russell and I didn't seem to be interested in our desire being together anymore.

Waving her hands at our face, we watched as a portal appeared and snapped open in the open cave door, behind us. Moving away from us, granny waved her hands in the air. Making a strong force of wind move us away from our troubled children, and went crashing through the glowing purple portal at the front door of the cave. And disappeared. The stormy night reappeared to normal view as the dead granny turned her attention back to Mark and Valentino.

They started trembling in fear as their dead granny continued smiling and showing her stained, green-colored teeth at them. "Boys, so lovely to see you again," dead granny said. She stopped floating when she got closer to Mark and Valentino.

Valentino suddenly trembled in his knees, and screamed. Grabbing hold of his brother, around his shoulders, Valentino tried to comfort his frightened little brother.

"You two monster kids shouldn't have to be afraid of me," dead granny said, laughing. "I'm going to teach you how to be real monsters in this life," granny said, making a promise to the two brothers.

Clinging nervously onto each other, Mark and Valentino shook nervously and trembled in fear before their dead granny, floating in front of them. "No, we don't want to be monsters!" Mark shouted, speaking up first. "What's going on around here, granny?" Mark pleaded, his face suddenly turned pale like granny's dead ghost before them.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you what everything is going on," their dead granny said. "It seems the Dark Moon Worshiper wants to control every monster kid from completing their final transformation on Halloween at midnight, next Saturday," granny said, still smiling and grinning at the two brothers.

Valentino stepped up in front of his brother, trying to understand everything. "So, you're saying something is going to go wrong with the next full moon? And there's nothing we can do to control our change, from getting permanent?" Valentino asked, hoping to make sense.

"Yes! Correct, Valentino, love," said their dead granny. "But if you believe in the powers who gave them to you, to change in the first place. You should know how to control and use them for your own good," granny continued.

"Let me get this right, granny," Mark said, speaking up next. Thunder boomed outside the cave. Making Mark and Valentino jump with fright. It just made their dead granny giggle and laugh at them. "If you teach us how to be better monster kids, it could put an end to the Dark Moon Worshiper, who's controlling all the kids in Sparkle Town?" Mark asked.

Granny nodded and didn't stop smiling, showing her dead, green-stained rotting teeth. "It won't be easy. I know how hard it can be on you two kids, from controlling your change. If you trust the monster power I gave you, it will only make you braver and stronger in this race against the battle of the Midnight Moon Ceremony final journey to the forgotten time of when monsters ruled the earth," their dead granny said.

"I'm scared, granny!" Mark said, screaming like a little girl. He shakily clung onto his shirtless brother, and tried not to faint.

Annoying his brother, Valentino tried to get his brother to get off him. "Get your own space, bro," Valentino said, pushing and shoving his brother off him. "We don't have anything to worry about," he continued.

Granny suddenly erupted into my cackling laughter, startling the two brothers. This time, Mark let Valentino cling onto him. "You're wrong, Valentino. Because on Halloween, if I don't help control your changes, it will be permanent," dead granny said, honestly.

"No way!" Mark and Valentino both said, at once. "You won't let this happen to us, will you, granny?" Mark asked, still clinging onto his brother.

It thundered again from the storm outside the cave. "I'll do my best, whatever it takes, to keep my two monster grandchildren from becoming something they're not meant to be," granny told them.

Mark and Valentino turned serious expressions on their faces, now. "Help us be better monsters, granny," Valentino said, suddenly interested. "I don't want the same thing to happen to anybody else," he continued, putting a brotherly arm around his brother's shoulder. And he had a fake grin on his face.

Smiling, granny turned her back on them. She was digging in her black purse she wore around her neck, something she was looking for. "I'm very happy you kids want me to help you control your monster powers," granny was saying behind their back. "Let me ask you kids this…" her voice trailed off.

Putting something on her face, like some kind of mask, she whirled around and faced the two brothers. Startling them out of their mind, their dead granny had some kind of ugly, voodoo mask on, it's crazy looking eyes glowing bright yellow. "Does this make you scared of me, children?" she asked, cackling.

Mark and Valentino let out screams of horror at the sight of what their suddenly, floating dead granny had become! Granny floated toward them as she cornered them onto the bare unmade bed mattress by the cave wall.

Laughing madly, and floating closer toward the two children, granny didn't take off the scary Halloween mask she wore. She watched as Mark and Valentino bumped their noggins together and passed out.
