Chapter 15 - Night Without Miracle Wonder

"Oh, you're awake, children!" they heard the voice of their dead granny call to them. Opening their eyes slowly, they found themselves lying in two separate coffins, tied up, staring at their dead granny's Halloween mask, she still wore them.

"Wh-what do you want from us?" Mark asked, struggling to free his tied up hands in a robe in the black coffin lay in the graveyard, next to his brother, Valentino. "Please let us go," Mark complained. But it seemed the spirit of their granny wasn't paying any attention to them.

"Mark, what's going on, out there?" Mark heard his brother, Valentino ask, on the other side of his open black coffin they both lay next to each other.

Mark didn't reply. He was struggling to cut the ropes tied to his hands together, open with the side of a nail poking out beside the coffin he was in.

Mark tried communicating with his little brother, Valentino. Mark continued to watch the sky in the opening of his black coffin, as he saw their dead granny using some kind of plant or flower with some stinky perfume spraying out of it over the two brothers.

"This charm dust will keep your monster powers under control," they heard their granny say. Suddenly, Mark and Valentino heard their granny scream. Out of nowhere, they heard somebody tackling their granny.

Of course, Mark and Valentino couldn't see what was happening. But it seemed their parents, Russell, and myself had caught up to what our granny was up to. "Mom? Dad? Is that you?" I overhead one of my sons, Mark yell at us.

Pushing me off our dead granny, I watched as Russell quickly snatched the yellow flowers out of granny's reach. "You're not trying to help them, granny! You're making it worse for them, by cursing them with your stinky flowers!" Russell said, and tossed the bouquet of yellow stinky flowers in his hand, on the ground. And smothered them with his brown shoe on the dirty grass.

"You shouldn't have done that, Russell!" their dead granny screamed. "I was protecting your children from waking up the Dark Moon Worshiper on Halloween!" our granny continued, angrily. "Why do their parents have to ruin everything?" granny screamed more.

Granny was about to get to her feet, and grab for the yellow bouquet of flowers under Russell's brown shoe he wore. Mark and Valentino were hearing us fighting with their dead granny. It was getting them upset.

"What's going on?" we heard Mark yell at us. "Get us out of here!" screamed Mark. Valentino was also screaming inside of his black coffin, he was tied inside of.

Without any warning, a shadow stepped over the graveyard. Appearing in a puff of smoke, was the mysterious priest. He wore his black uniform and wore a golden necklace around his neck.

"You won't take their powers from me!" their dead granny, shouted to the angry priest. "It took me forever to protect the children from getting whatever they wanted to keep from changing into, forever," granny continued.

Before Father Miracle could explain himself, he held out his right hand in the air. Making Mark and Valentino's dead granny float in the air. "Hold her," Father Miracle snarled angrily at me and my husband.

"Only I do the real miracles around here, granny Changeling," said Father Miracle, honestly. "If you want to take their power away from them, you don't know what you're up against," he said.

Holding onto our son's granny's arms in the air, floating, granny didn't take her eyes off the priest. "Take off her Halloween mask," Father Miracle explained.

Looking at the priest for direction, he nodded. Still holding onto granny's arms, Russell and myself used our other free hand, and quickly tore off her Halloween mask. There was nothing there but ash and bones…

We watched as the old fashioned clothes she had worn, as the dust of her body fell to the ground. There was nothing left of our son's dead granny's body. Letting go of her dress she had worn, float away in the air.

"You have nothing to worry about," said Father Miracle. "You will be safe with your children at my chapel tonight. I'm going to bless with my modern miracles I perform on ordinary people in this town with my craft. It's harmless, and safe for them. I understand you are worried about the Midnight Moon Ceremony to make it worse. But I promise, if you let me take care of your children before Halloween, next weekend, I will–"

Suddenly, Father Miracle's voice got cut off. We screamed and gasped. Turning to look at what happened to the priest, a bloody wooden stake was plunged into his chest. Looking at who did it, Russell and I gasped.

Our own monster children had punished the priest to his death. Without giving him a chance for any of us to surrender.
