Ever since she had received the first note, she had realized something would probably happen, and in any other case, she would have been scared.
But now, Zhao Yuan was not. If you wonder why—well, it was because of the system. Since morning, she had been observing a lot of things, for example, how no one was allowed to talk. She also noticed how customers were not allowed to linger after she chose to close the restaurant.
And even if she had not tried to close the restaurant before finishing her tasks any other time, now she felt like doing it. Not because she was scared, but because she wanted to see what would happen.
But before that, Zhao Yuan decided to give her last customer a different service.
The man felt confident watching the young woman walk up to him, thinking she would ask him what was happening. So, when he was kicked right after she got to his side, he was stunned before stumbling down from his chair.
Seeing this, Zhao Yuan did not give him a chance to recover. She picked up his seat and smashed it down onto him. After hitting him once, Zhao Yuan couldn't stop herself and continued smashing it down a few more times before turning around and walking back to the kitchen.
The man, who had finally gotten a bit of reprieve, quickly shot up and followed behind her, full of rage.
Feeling his fast movements toward her, Zhao Yuan realized she could get hurt and quickly rushed to the counter, pressing the quit button just as the man lunged himself toward her.
Beep!
A loud alarm sounded before the man felt his body smash against an invisible barrier, which then tossed him toward the door.
Turning around, Zhao Yuan was shocked by the scene of a tall, muscular man's body flying across the room before colliding with the solid door and dropping onto the ground.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
An alarm continued to ring, with the previously brightly lit restaurant turning red and shaking, making her hold onto the counter as she watched various objects being flung at the man. First was his glass, which smashed his head, then other seats, which all floated up.
Seeing this, the man finally felt scared and scrambled up before pulling the door open, just as the first seat collided with his back and flung him out of the restaurant.
Outside the restaurant, the waiting crowd was stunned at the sight of a man flying out of the restaurant, falling onto the ground, and coughing up blood.
Back inside the restaurant, Zhao Yuan was still shocked and excited by the show, even scoffing smugly before stumbling to the still-open door, ready to close it when she saw the crowd outside.
Standing there, Zhao Yuan smugly glared at the stunned Liu Han, who stood in front of the crowd, before slamming the door shut and walking back into the kitchen, where the screen was flashing:
'Danger detected! Punishment zone will be changed in 04:47:32'
Reading the screen, Zhao Yuan sighed in relief before walking to one of the seats, waiting to be moved from this place.
Outside, Liu Han finally reacted after the door was shut, ordering some people to move the injured man while glaring at the closed restaurant door.
He didn't understand it.
First of all, the restaurant had shown up out of nowhere, according to his scouts, who said nothing had been there before. Secondly, only a few chosen people could go in. But they were still not allowed to order whatever they wanted or speak in the restaurant.
The more he thought about the restaurant and its restrictions, the more he realized that maybe he should not have dared to covet it.
Just as he started to think of a way to make things work, the restaurant building suddenly vanished right in front of his eyes.
The previously occupied field was glaringly empty, making various people in the crowd doubt their eyes as they gaped at the sight. Wei Ting felt as if his world were crumbling upon realizing their only hope of getting free food was gone.
Inside the restaurant, Zhao Yuan gracefully left her seat and walked into the kitchen. Looking at everything in pristine condition, she felt relieved and started looking around the kitchen, realizing all the previous equipment had been changed.
Checking the screen, she quickly read her new instructions:
'Welcome to the new location. Different dishes will be served in different locations. Get ready to start at 15:00:00'
Seeing no mention of what had happened in the previous location, Zhao Yuan wondered if she could ask about what had just happened, before ultimately choosing to rest and wait for the timer to hit zero.
Zhao Yuan had been in this new location for approximately two and a half hours, and in all that time, she had been slaving away and serving anyone who walked in.
Staring at the people counter displayed above the cooking station, she could already feel her arms get sore at the thought of serving twenty more people. This time, the instructions were to ensure no one became frustrated with her service.
Thinking back to the previous times she saw this instruction, she felt frustrated even before she started prepping her ingredients.
Zhao Yuan was just about to finish when the first person walked in. It was a five-foot-seven man dressed officially in a worn-out navy blue suit, looking like he had been running for hours. His tired eyes seemed to twinkle a little when he stared around the restaurant before walking up to the counter.
A serving of plain chips and a glass of juice.
The image appeared above his head. Taking in the info, her hands sped up, prompting her to quickly take some of the sliced potatoes and put them in the fryer.
A few seconds later, two more people walked in—a woman and a child, both dressed casually in a worn-out pair of jeans and stained blue t-shirts. Staring up, the same order greeted her eyes, prompting her to keep moving as she went back to process more potatoes for frying.
She also started the juicer, which began pouring out juice into glasses, which she quickly served before taking out the chips and serving them as well.
This process was repeated over and over again.
Earlier, she had thought she would have to work all day until a screen appeared with a single word. Asking her if she wanted to continue, her finger acted faster than her brain and pressed No.
The previously bright restaurant lights grew dimmer, making her smile before stepping back from the counter and resting her aching back against the fridge.
Her waist felt as if it were about to break, and her legs were sore from all the standing she had done throughout the day. Feeling completely exhausted, Zhao Yuan could only slide down the fridge and sit on the ground, letting her soul-stirring brown eyes lifelessly stare at the blue counter opposite her.
